Qotd:Can’t pick 1 but the Lucien Albrecht Cuvee romanus is a helluva QPR. I’d pay double the price for it

Great head-to-header! QOTD: The most interesting Pinot Gris I tried was the Nobilo Icon, Marlborough NZ–it was almost peachy-orange in color, with a honey, floral nose-more like an Alsatian but with a wierd little acidic zap.

Very good head to head contest.

QOTD: My all time hands down favorite is the King Estate “Domaine” Pinot Gris (from Oregon). Well worth the few extra bones over the regular bottling and it’s Organicly grown to boot.

I like the Stellina di Notte (about $10 in Central Cali)…tastes like Santa Margarita which is overpriced at $20-$25.

The Pinot which brought Thunder to my palette was :
Chateau Diana Pinot Grigio with 6% alcohol.

We had our first pinot gris last weekend. 2000 Trimbach Vendanges Tardives from Alsace. It was mighty delicious, and I was surprised at it’s sweetness. It was a great match for the thai take out we had.

I’ve many pinot grigios, and they have all been sharp and citrus like flavors, much drier than the pinot gris.

I don’t think I have ever had one. I have a tough time drinking white wines because my wife doesn’t/won’t drink them.

I’m wracking my brain but I can’t remember one that i’ve had but I for some reason feel like I did try one awhile ago and it reminded me alot of gewurtztraminer. Great episode, always nice to see both wines bringing the thunder. There seemed to be a long stretch where most of the wines on WLTV ended up sucking. I’ve heard Oregon is a great spot for pinot gris.

Great show! A high-level draw is good though methinks you favored the Binner just a tad. QOTD: Klein aux Vieux Remparts Pinot Gris “Burgreben” — just AOC so not a grand cru, but at 17 bones a pretty good deal because it was outstanding with pork/ginger/cabbage/garlic/tsin-tsin potstickers. We’re also witcha on the “Izzit sweet or not?” thing. It’s not! On the other hand, it does seem just a little sweet, except when it’s not. Cali PG is all sweet, bland, no focus, but thanks to posters for the many Oregon recommendations.

I’ve only had a couple P Grigios, both from Italy, both sorta cheap (inexpensive) but I thought they were way too light, almost watered down. I’d like to try the Binner.

Qotd: Nothing stands out as the best one, but the Keesha- Hungry Pinot Gris brought smone recent thunder for sure. Gary, just wanted to say that I finally bought the book last night…awesome. The intro made me remember why I got interested in WLTV and really spoke both from, and to, the heart. I stumbled onto WLTV during a difficult time in my life and it has only been a blessing in a myriad of ways. Seriously- Thank you Gary, we are so lucky!
