Great episode, tried an Oscar Brillant Sancerre as part of expanding my knowledge, still prefer the New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs.

QOTD – One of the best meals I prepared was a Hot Italian sausage with onions, peppers, garlic, paired with Couly-Dutheil Chinon Cabernet Franc. Really good pairing.

QOTD: This is a beautiful pairing Bethel Heights 2006 Pinot Noir
with Lavender chocolate. This combination does a speedy drum roll
between the chocolate and the wine making a great finish.

    Please lose the mic.

    I like the shirt!

QOTD: My homemade grilled Maytag Blue Cheeseburger with a thick slice of grilled onion and an Edmeades Zinfandel, on a warm sunny evening with some good friends. Paradise…

Gee your tasting notes made me thirsty for Sancerre (with oysters!) and I usually like the reds.
qotd: Maybe mine was a Malbec or a Zinfandel we were sipping while snacking on dates stuffed with Gorgonzola…it’s hard to recall favorites when you are into trying new things.

Good show. Looking forward to the great 500!
    I usually enjoy Sauvignon Blancs, but I haven’t had a Sancerre, yet…

QOTD: My best and latest pairing was a Chateau La Lieue, Côtes de Varoix with goat cheese and Greek salade with feta.

In general I don’t like having to pick favorites of anything. But Prime Rib with a full-bodied long-finish cab always moves me, especially if there is more wine left when starting on the choc cake for dessert.

QOTD – Sancere (Cotat) with goat cheese on fresh baguette . . . perfection in pairing. I would say it rivals the oysters/Sancere pairing.

I also believe the mic is killing the thunder! Gary, the bright, acidic, timber in your voice that adds so much to the character and excitement you bring to the show is being muted. Please go back to the old format!!!!!!!!!

Great show, quick and to the point. I’m a little behind on eps, need to get caught up before #500.

Q- One of my all time favs is simply a good Brunello and a hunk of aged parmesan. Awesome!

  • Gonzo

QOTD: Off-Dry WA Riesling and red Thai curry with prawns or the classic beefy cab and fillet with bernaise and red wine sauce. Maybe hotdogs and viognier. I don’t know, its all delicious.

  • You’re so funny with the little frowny face at Mott πŸ™‚ Cracks me up. Food and wine pairing, hmmmm. I think the whole concept is overrated. If you like the food and you like the wine, then you’ve got a good pairing. OK port and stilton cheese is a good pairing. I just had an angus beef burger and zinfandel and it was altogether fine! Oysters and beer is a good pairing!

Demi-Sec Vouvray and Foie Gras. There is not a better pairing on the planet. I just enjoyed this last night with a Champalou Cuvee des Fondraux. The richness of the Foie Gras just makes the wine come alive.

QOTD: Favorite pairing? Although enjoying many different and excellent pairings, the most memorable always come back to when my son comes home for a weekend visit and we have a chargrilled steak and team it up with something like a Nicholson Ranch Cab or Pinot Noir. Enjoy wine and spread the love it creates.

Looking forward to the Big 500th!

Oysters. Nope, not my cup of tea.

QOTD: a local restaurant makes a down to earth italian dish with noodles, peppers, sausage, etc and I love it with a cabernet. That was my wine epiphany several years ago and it is still my favorite combination.
