Hi Gary – great show! And thanks for the new wristband – it really is cool!!

QOTD: I’ve only had one Israeli wine, and didn’t like it, but I promise to try more, especially after this show. I actually get my kosher wine from Spain, and am one of those people who thought all Israeli wines were kosher, so I definitely learned something new today, which is awesome.

Gary – Great show! Hope your trip to India is going well. Never seen any wines out of India. Kingfisher beer, but no wine. Looking forward to hearing in a future episode what you heard/saw/tasted!
QOTD: Never had a wine out of Israel. I’ve heard somewhere (maybe even on WLTV) in the past that Lebanon was famous for high quality red wines (Chateau Musar being one). Maybe a future show?

  • I just returned from a trip to Israel where I had the chance to visit three boutique wineries in the Judean Hills: Agur, Sea Horse (Suson yam), and Yehuda. All three make splendid Cabernet blends. As mentioned in a previous comment, Agur does export to the U.S. One winery that I didn’t have the chance to visit and regret not fitting in was Ben Hanna. A friend shared a bottle of Ben Hanna’s 2005 Shalem (a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend) and it was incredible. If you go to Israel or have a contact there, try to get a copy of Red or White: The Wine Route Magazine of the Judean Wineries (published in Hebrew and English). 25 boutique wineries are featured–it includes contact info and a good map.

Very interesting show. Admittedly, when I think of Israeli wines, I assume “kosher”.

QOTD: I’ve never had an Israeli wine. I’ll have to see if we have any in Ohio.

  • Great article/interview in the Wine and Spirits Special Issue with Greico! When I saw “Rebels Rock the Best of the Wine World,” I had an inkling you’d be in there! 🙂 I’d love to see Greico’s wine bar someday. If you haven’t seen it, the interview video is here: http://www.wineandspiritsmagazine.com/

QOTD: Sadly no. I’d love to have one though! I’ll keep my eyes peeled!
