QOTD: Kind of. But certainly didn’t have anything to do with wine.

The clamor of the crowd was a bit distracting. Going to have to give that envoirnment a PAZZ. But you were pumped, and that’s always cool.

  • Gary, didn’t like this episode. You seemed to rushing, talking the fastest I’ve ever seen and yelling into the mic. Though I do like hearing the reaction of the a live audience, just not feeling it in this episode.

Yea, way to hate on those f*@#g pats yo, they are dirty dirty yo, mad dirty dirty!

on an interesting note, after picking my first 40 bushels of wine grapes, im kinda thinking that when you smell “forest floor” in a wine, its cause the grapes hit the vineyard floor. i cant imagine how much of the sediment that will eventually settle out of this wine is going to be pure dirt lol.

I’m sure you had fun with this but it wasn’t much of an episode of WLTV. The constant sound of the crowd would have been good if you were there but not so good online. Really didn’t recognize what you were tasting at all.

Hey Mott … WTF … you cut short all the rowdy applause at the end of the show …and FWIW, I concur, the Donatiello Pinot rocked the house!

    Gary –

Okay episode. Actually much prefer the episodes you shoot in your office (both at the round table and the laid-back couch). Unfortunately, I’ve come to find that the live shoots just don’t cut it for me. Just my humble opinion. They’re usually shorter with not as much thoughtful descriptions or background info. Sound and image quality suffers. The background chatter that can occur with these situations seems to just dilute the message. I can only speak for myself, but I watch WLTV to not just be entertained, but to be informed, educated, and at times, inspired (to expand my palate).
QOTD: No, I have never experienced that type of situation.

ive seen every single episode and rarely leave comments. ill just say that your wine based episodes lately are excellent. i love how honest youre being about the wines and pretty tight with the scoring, really classy. could do without the beer and cheese and whiskey and all that and have come to really dislike the guests, but when you just take on straight wine head on youre rivaling the best.

as for veramonte i just wanted to say that the $1.99 2004 veramonte chard they have at grocery outlet near me is a great value and i bought a couple cases of it. love the values that come out of south america and hope youll do more on that in the future.

remember when winelibrary.com used to have free shipping offers.. sigh those were the days…. now back to lurking.

I hate to say it GV, but I agree with Hido. We get GV energy cranked up to a deafening and distorted level on some of these. It’s awesome to see how energized the crowd gets you, but the content isn’t quite as good. It’s all good, I just don’t expect as much from the live audience shows…

QOTD: I once gave a lecture on disaster management and the evacuation of my hospital in New Orleans to about a thousand people… pretty freaking overwhelming! And now that I think about it, it’s hard NOT to go over the top when you’re trying to keep the attention of that many people – I’m sure I did!

That was entertaining. I like it when you do shows in front of a crowd. I always want to see the audience though. Maybe Mott could do a pan of the audience at the beginning of those shows?
    QOTD: nope.

I do like the live shows, you have a higher energy level. Yery much enjoyed the episode. So far have only had the lower end pinot noir’s, but am trying more soon.

QOTD – I have been priviledged to been a moderator for state conferences in past for my professional society, and appreceiate the energy they provided.

Sure, but after seeing this show, the 500 episode, and a few others in front of big crowds (Boston) I think you’re much better in smaller settings, where your humor comes across more playfully. Its doesn’t need to be a contest between you and the crowd, just some fun with wine. Maybe leaving the football booing too… Why be negative on such a happy positive show?
But thanks again as always for the insight on the wines. I’m looking forward to exploring Anderson Valley Pinots soon.
