Gary, This is your best quote Ever:
Tim: “There are about 279 Masters of Wine in the World.” Gary: “So, you’re like a JEDI. You are a JEDI!”
That is hilarious man. something totally unexpected. What great quick thinking.
Also, I’m not sold on the Vignon powder, but if I happen to ever see it around I may pick up a small bottle to try it out.

Sorry, that was a really bad show. If I wan’t to watch commercials I can do it on TV. And I really enjoy matching food and wine according to my taste, so I don’t need this VIGNON stuff. That would just take away a lot of the fun and excitement of wine in general, which to me should taste differently with every dish you have it with.

Gary! was he sponsoring the episode? This was not one of your best episodes…this guy was a little full of himself although he seems brilliant.

While I thought the guest was sub-par, I do like the idea of mixing up the show every once in awhile the something off-beat. Gary clearly also thought the guy was a bit of a douce bag…several good comments from Gary, loved the “oh, you pulled the thunder there” when he came out w/ the italian. keep up the good work. – Your wino friend from Chatham

Interesting little infomercial. Waiting for the chopper/dicer/slicer to come out. Where’s Ron Popeil to bring the “BAM”? Gentleman guest is deserving of respect because of his “credentials” but he was just a bit too full of himself.

At any rate, thank you, Gary, for making certain the wine was mentioned and reviewed. That’s what it’s all about.

    Poor Mott!!

I like that guy. He’s cool. He reminds me of a musicians mentality kind of guy so I can’t wait to see his website and his band. I play guitar for 40 years now and I have met many a Tim Hanni in my day…. cool peeps!!!

  • Great show. Great guest. I love his bio blurb from the Toasted Heads band:

Tim Hanni MW (guitar) is a wine geek and President of WineQuest that really would not be playing with the band unless he was married to Kate. He owns several expensive guitars and gets the gigs due to his status in the wine industry.

    LOL — classic

    Good Show. Interesting concept.

The guest was a trip. You could tell he wanted some of that wine – it was in his eyes. I look forward to trying this product.

Years ago, when I saw John Ash’s cooking show, I thought he came off as something of a prick. Then he became one of the developing partners at Sauvignon Republic, and try as I might, I couldn’t help but reassess my opinion.

    Yikes!

You did a great job gary. Your direct question if it is BS was great. And who doesn’t think that this whole idea is doomed to fail. Some sort of spicy salt for wine-nerds? Come on… Put this on your food and your wine tastes better. Ha! Finally I can eat my oysters with Barolo… 😛
And that he didn’t taste the wine and avoided to say anything about it, that turned me off – this guy treated your show like an commercial. But you stayed true to yourself and gave us your honest opinion. Kudos. Reminds me of that Clef du win show.

Hey Gary and viniacs! I found super interesting this episode but I just wonder if this seasoning doesn’t kill some of the fun of “playing” with the matching of diferent foods and wines in the form of “one size fits all”.
No matter the ingredients or the specific weight of the dish every wine suits.
It’s just a question. Thank you for expand our palates and our knowledge.

    Interesting show. Informational and fun.
Try some fried asiago cheese with wine – the salt and fat really makes for a great combination with tannic red wines. I think that salt and the parmesan is what makes the product do what it does.

  • Somewhat interesting but it did come off like an infomercial. I have tried the Vignon seasoning within the last 3 months and I can’t really tell any difference. Artichokes still made my wine taste like a tin can. While his credentials are impressive, the product is much less so.
