I’ve loved every blind tasting that Gary has done. How many other major wine critics in the world would be happy to do ‘one-take’ blind tastings? My guess is less than 1. Phenomenal

Every ep in 2009 blind? Nah, nope. I think it would be passe’ by April. Definately need to do blind more often. I agree with a lot of the others. Once a week.

I think the blind tastings remove any biases you may have. As good as you are and as hard as you try, you cannot remove all bias. The blind tasting can just about do that.

I really love the blind tasting. The fist episode I ever saw was a blind tasting, and it hooked me! At least two times a week, bro!

I like the idea of a blind Tuesday. I would also love to see some more Verticals of a producer to compare vintages. Also, it would rock if you could taste wines all made from the same vineyard grapes, but by different wine makers/producers. For instance, Gary’s Vineyard in Santa Lucia Cali is the source of many different producer’s Pinot Noir. It would be cool to see the influence of a winemaker in the final product.

Great show, but blind all the time? NO! After a while it would get boring. Once a week or so would be fine.

  • Love reference to blue fruit.

    QOTD: Go all year mate!

Go blind once or twice a week. It’s fun, very interesting, but I like the regualr format and like the guests. Keep us guessing and mix it up a bit! 🙂

so did you NOT get the tabacco THIS time the “first time” you’ve had this…or did you NOT get the tabacco “yesterday” like you slipped and said? Curious. Enjoyed the cover run onto football though….calmed you down and got you back centered…..!

I love the blind Tuesday idea!

Great show! Where the hell were you? I’ve never seen an episode with you the in the “box room.” I missed the Jets paraphernalia.

QOTD: Oui, absolument !

  • QOTD: I like the blind tastings, they are a lot of fun BUT I like it when you change the format up every once in a while, so that would be a ‘no’ for the blind tastings for all of ’09. Maybe you should do a blind episode once a week?

    What a great episode.

QOTD: Go blind in two thousand nine!!!

  • BCWineAreIn

    Great show Gary!

Definitely get some blind episodes in there. 2 blind episodes a week would be a good balance. You should throw in a ringer that you had in the past and see how you rate it now. Would be very interesting.

I like the blind tastings but I think that every episode would wear out the novelty. It’s like the McRib, it’s not out all year, but every time McDonald’s puts it on their menu people go crazy.

Going blind the whole year would be great. It would show your tasting ability much more clearly. I do not, but I’m sure some people out there think you rate on WL sales. This would prove everyone wrong. Give it a go.

Qotd: i like the blind tastings, but you should only do it like once every week or something like that. I really enjoy the guests much more.

  • labslave

I have to agree that once a week blind tastings would be great.

I also like Brian’s idea of verticals & wines from the same vineyard by different winemakers.

    As always, great job!

I wanted to continue : but once a week will do. That makes it to look forward to, and you need a specific topic (same grape, same region, same something) to work around, like now with Napa Cabs.

QOTD go for it but i do like the idea of tasting the same variety for a show or two and then do the blind tasting.
A lot of fun. Great show.
I was at a wine tasting tonight and had two “Layer Cake” wines. The layer cake brand is a great story and i completely enjoyed the Primitivo, the Malbec wasn’t bad either just maybe lacking in a littel depth.
