I’m already noticing a trend due to economic woes:
Lots more value wines being sold. Pretty close to the same amount of covers (dinner entrees) but more QPR drinkers.
That’s ok, I started pushing the wine list that way in the last quarter of 2008.
New yrs eve crowd the same. Lots of btls but kept it around $100 as opposed to $200 ++ in past yrs.
Ole Miss fans partied hard at our restaurant. Spent lots of cash. Thanks for stopping in!!!
Still gotta say: “Get your guns up!” (Tech had a great yr)

Absolutely love the show. Very, very excited for you and your success. Thank you for all you have done for us and the wine business in general. On the topic of To Do’s for 2009, I hope to see more restaurant list reviews. As a server, representing a solid, albeit Pacific NW and French dominated list, I am always curious to see how ours holds up to all the others.

Hi Gary only discovered your show about a month ago, loving it and gonna spread the word to fellow Brits who are loving the wine like me; keep up the good/crazy work! Question of the day for you: how does wine generate heat in the mouth? I see you don’t seem to like this happening when you try wine (white). Also; have you tried the following?: 2007 “Devil’s Rock” Riesling, Germany (Pfalz). It’s a steal here in England for £5.49. Lovely citrus crispness etc, would love to know what you think. Have a good 2009, Tom, Plymouth, England (newly converted veyniak)

Petaluma Riesling and oysters – great combo & top choice Gary. My wine moment – it’s 1979 and we have just caught some flatheads in Port Phillip Bay off Rosebud, cut our own chips (English style, not thin French Fries) and drank a bottle of Petaluma.
