QOTD: The last Primitivo I had was the Bracco. Don’t know if it was from Puglia though. Have had some blends, didn’t pay much attention to where in Italy they came from..

If Cynthia and ???? have half that marriage that Gary has then he will only see 25% of the time.

Great show Gary, short but sweet.

QOTD: A couple times; Most recently a 2004 La Corte Negroamere. I would give it 89+, but it really needs to breathe 1st – decant at least 1 hour for best results.

1 wine certainly mixes it up! Don’t get crazy and do like a week of 2 wines- that might crash the servers.

Thanks for the birthday shout out Gary. I can’t believe I made the chalkboard!

QOTD: nothing that blew me away as of yet

KAHUNA is on a roll tonight!

  • I like the idea of mixing up the formats. You never know what you might get one evening.

QOTD: I don’t think so though I’ve had Primitivos you have rated but forgot the region.

    Cheers!

One wine? How about 4 glasses for 4 wines instead of 1 glass for the show? Mix it up. GO back outside, that was way fun. Spit in the parking lot. Got roof access? I’m getting into this…

I do like white pepper. It’s used in a lot of asian cuisines and adds a hot, not spicy pepper taste. Great in clear soups and marinating because black pepper burns on the grill or stove!

QOTD: Nope, haven’t tried any wines from Italy’s boot 🙁

Yes, Negroamaro and Primitivo. I have also enjoyed Aliatico which I think is from southern Italy, but I’m not sure.

A Mano Primitivo and Piluna Primitivo… The latter is much better in my opinion but A Mano is easier to find…

I went to Europe over the summer, visited ports in Italy and drank some really good wine but no recollection of the names. Also am a white pepper fan, great in egg drop soup.

This is really weird…I opened the 2005 felline primitivo that u recommended in episode 300 and something about 2 hours before I watched this show. Your tasting notes were right on the money…the orange was an obvious call, however you found oregano on the nose and palate that i wouldnt have gotten without your help and it was dead on. Great bottle for 12 bones, cheers!

I agree southern italy is a place i always have my eye on for value. It is unfortunate that selection is limited in my neck of the woods.

QOTD: when I was last in Italy I was too young to drink wine.
The last time I used white pepper was in a white sauce so that it didn’t have ugly black flecks in it. That was quite a while ago. I still have the white pepper though.
