line of the day – ‘Mott, have you ‘done’ a lot of white pepper in your life…..’

This is a short format, one wine show – I like the longer ones

    QOTD No, sounds good tho.

And i agree with you, good meatballs are simply amazing and make the meal. I like them with loads of spices 🙂

  • Rick D

QOTD: Been to Italy, but not to the heel. Next time we do southern Italy and Sicily.

I like the quick hitter show featuring a single wine. It allows more time to concentrate on that wine and possibly other aspects of the wine world, different varietals, terroir, etc.

Out of the last ten bottles of wine I have had 5 were Italian.

    GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!

    QOTD:No

I can’t find the Tormaresca Neprica in my area, but I will be looking for some wines from Puglia, especially those with the varietal that is new to me, the Negroamaro.

I like the short and sweet format. More in-depth analysis of wine is educational and entertaining.

    Keep bringin’ it Gary V.!

  • Hey Gary

    Thanks for the show.

QOTD: …yep think so, but can’t really remember the wines themselves. Value palys that offered decent drinking, but obviously nothing that rocked my world.

    Cheers

Just a so-so ep IMO. GV managed to stretch out 3 minutes of content into a 10 min show. Great news about the meatballs, though. Sorry, but I have to honest.

Sadly, that show did not bring any thunderclaps…more like a slight shower or drizzle. Fewer wines is fine with me but at least two, please. The comparisons make it more interesting.

    Hi Gary,

I just wanted to let you know that I will be seeing you in Boston at the Wine Expo. I also wanted to let you know that I signed-up for the 12:30 seminar that immediately follows your seminar. My friends and I will try to
sit close to a door, so that we can discreetly leave. Please don’t be offended. I’m hoping to get one of your sniffy sniff glasses and maybe one of your autographed books, if there’s time.****I think I may have had a Puglia Wine, but I think it may have been a white, not sure. ********

QOTD: yes – in fact, I’ve had this very bottle! (although I think I had the ’05…. I’d have to check my “buy again” list)

QOTD (more): have also had the A-Mano Primitivo (disappointing) and currently have the Felline Primitivo in my cellar/queue. Both Puglias. I’ve probably had others, but haven’t kept track of my Italians by region very well.

Good show… definetely appreciate you talking about price point and in this economy it is so important to know how to pick up great wine at a great price! I hope Cynthia says yes for that fellow! Would love to see you do a show on a wine from Greece!

QOD: Unfortunately havent been there! But will go soon!

Question for Gary: If planning a trip for wine tasting what region if the world would be best to go do this in?

  • Way to go with the proposal. Cool.

QOTD: Yes, my friends and I bought two bottles of Borgo Canale in Brindisi while waiting for a ferry to take us to Greece. Needless to say we had to stay on deck the whole time but the bottles were just what we needed for a stark boat picnic: they didn’t last, we sunk those in less than two hours, it was such a cool trip.

I haven’t tasted the Tormaresca, but will look for it soon.

    Cheers !

Yes, drank a 2002 Tormaresca Castel del Monte Bocca Di Lupo.

    Great wine. From cellartracker:
1/7/2007 rated 92 points: Color is deep red with medium legs. Aroma of Wet rocks, rose petal, dirt, macerated cherries.
Taste of black cherry, rose petal, round red fruit. Lots of tannin in the front to mid-palate. Very chewy at this point with cherry flavors. Long smooth silky finish. Drank it too early. Probably an even better wine when the tannins melow.

I have enjoyed Salice Salentino from Puglia in the past. Hope to be able to visit that area of Italy one day.
