These improv, flipcam episodes are fantastic – anyone who says they are sloppy needs their head examined. Also the Jets hoodie is phenomenal – I’ll have to get one.

Ive missed your show recently and this was a great show to come back to. Its the playoffs so Nashville Predators? Good QOTD!

  • GV, I have no problem with the bad lighting and the jerky camera movements and all of that which some folks are complaining about. It´s real, and it´s ultimately about the content. Great job.
    QOTD: Tennesee (lame)

So far today no new content has been pumped out.
Is that a broken flip cam play?

  • Troutmonster, internet on the Thunder Cruise was 50 cents per minute and boy was it slow! Hopefully yours is faster for that extra 5 cents 😉

I really appreciate the time that you take out of your busy day to provide me with some top quality content – just wished some of the Vayner nation could also respect that….I certainly find the flip cam action fun and entertaining and dont believe tht every episode has to be 30mins sat behind a desk. As you say preach all along….variety is the spice of life….mix it up a little…for sure.

QOTD – Being English I would probably say, Rednecks….ooops..very un P.C.

  • Gary, don’t let people drag you down with the nirvana fallacy (the idea that trying is pointless if you can’t do it perfectly), because daily content of slightly varying quality is better than sporadic, perfect episodes. I’m saying that purely as a fan. Please take the Flip cam to more wine bars because this is an under-appreciated aspect of wine culture for a lot of people, but if I can make one suggestion, have the person that’s in charge of the wine list there with you!

    QOTD: Musicians.

great episode, love the flip cam stuff. QOTD Nashville – first thought was NASCAR…sorry that is the truth

Gary – I am surprised to see no reaction in your vlogs about the Rangers or Devils being out?

No need to apologize. I enjoy the road shows. Next time let the wines sit
for awhile to assume room temp (stop the episode and restart it hour or
    so later).

QOTD: Honky Tonks! Can’t beat the live music scene.

Hess chard is on the radar now. Also, good move to let the pinot warm up for a bit longer, many of us realize what a cold bottle of pinot tastes like. My though was “What is he doing!” Then “Few!”

I know everyone is weighing in on the technical aspect of the road eps so here I go. While I realize the low budget nature of the show is important to preserve the perceived authenticity as an impartial and informative video blog, I would think that many viewers would appreciate a road camera that did IS, or image stabilization.

    GV are you listening?

  • Byron

Gary, I have been a viewer for over 400 hundred shows now and I still love your commentary on wine varietals, that is why I watch. Friends call me to pick their wines for dinner parties just because of my winelibrary knowledge. It is very obvious that you are playing to a younger crowd now, maybe for more exposure or maybe all the hype has gone to your head. I am sorry I hate the flip cam, tooooo much kaos for such an important subject WINE. Remember one thing, your father would probably agree, young people dont spend money, they dont stay with anything for very long and they prefer something for nothing which is what you are giving them. Stick to what got you there our move on.

QOTD: You say Nashville. I think Tennessee. The second thing that popped in my mind was Country Music.

  • Hi Gary,

I didn’t know shit about wines until I started watching your shows. Great. And as for the flip cam coverage, love it. It’s about “quality” content, not production values etc. Flip is perfect for what you are doing.

    Got a new fan bro.

    cheers

Tennessee, uh, tennessee…take me to another place…lala la la laaa la la.

Shows with babies: OK. Shows of you reviewing baby food: novel and cute. Anything involving you and breast milk: wrong, so. so. wrong.

I love these shows, its like Gary raw! We get to see you at your most basic, and its pretty damn entertaining. When you say Nashville, I think country music, which I hate, so its not a good association.

QOTD: Country Music. You should head out to the Loveless Cafe’ and experience some true southern cuisine. What wine goes with country ham and biscuits? A Muscadine or scuppernong wine perhaps? Certainly not a $30+ wine from your hotel mini bar!

I say country music marathon, as I just finished that race last week. We actually ran by the hotel you are/were in. But this was on Sat 4/25.

    Nice episode.

  • Love the flip-cam episodes — keeping it fresh. But mate, what have you done to your eyebrows? Was it just the camera angle, or are you having those things plucked now? It could be my imagination but I thought I was seeing a little “Burt Reynolds action” going on?!

GREAT episode. I can’t believe so many people commented on poor lighting in the last flipcam show! It was an IMPROMPTU FLIPCAM show! That show, and today’s, were both great and filled with fairly fast-paced content… so thank you.

QOTD: The HONKY TONK MAN!! (That’s a little old school WWF reference for ya, from the early 90’s when I used to watch the WWF like it was my JOB! I never liked him, but that’s what I think of when I hear “Nashville, Tennessee.”)

I travel a lot for work and pleasure and I wish that more hotels and hotel restaurants would improve their half bottle wine list. (And price them reasonably!)
