I lived in Baltimore, MD too. I was taught by the Sisters of Charity. They were a pretty intimidating group. I lived in Germany too, for 5 years.

QOTD: I don’t think that I actually know any bald men. I wouldn’t fault anyone for it though.

  • I was only going to watch the first few minutes of the show until later, but Vance was so entertaining I couldn’t turn it off! Easily the most likable person you’ve had on your show. I might actually watch it again!

I’ll have to look for his wine tonight when I go to Sonoma. I like to support the little guys.

QOTD: I think bald looks great, but I’m still keeping my hair as long as I can.

Thanks to another great guest! Gary, I could tell you were particularly excited to have Vance on the show, and I was excited to watch it.

qotd: I hope the world thinks highly, because I’m nearly bald myself.

  • Another excellent guest, and another foodie!

QOTD – Bald men are endlessly young, Vance is 60, bald and looking ten years younger. I’m 31, thick head of hair which is going gray, and I look ten years older!

  • Wonderful, charming guest who must have a great family. Would love to enjoy a long dinner with them. Sharp sausage. Sharp wine. Organic vegetables.

QOTD: All of us are bald, the insecure hide it with hair.

    Hey Gary,

Great guest-Vance was one of the best of all time! Although, I’d like to see some value wine shows in the near future-us CKC’s can’t afford to drop 50 bones on a bottle of Zin. Keep up the good work though, value or not you are always great to watch!

Gary, great show. You should have paired the sausages with Vance’s wines. I would like to see you dipping the sausages into dark chocolate (that’s weird).

QOTD: baldness is a sign of wisdom and excess testosterone. Women love it.

  • ian k

I haven’t watched the episode yet (I will) but I did just watch Sanchez’s first few plays in 2009, well done. Looks it’s going to be a great season.

GV – When will the JETS make their first appearance on the WLTV?

Excellent show, Gary. Vance is definitely one of the more fun guests you’ve had on the show, and your interviewing style is coming along nicely.

This particular question of the day forced me to finally de-lurk and comment. I have much respect for men that handle their baldness gracefully, because my hair was critically thin by 23-24 and I didn’t handle it well at all initially. I tried all the over-the-counter treatments and held on longer than was advisable. I finally chose to start shaving my head, which was probably the best decision regarding my personal appearance I’ve ever made. And it felt great to finally get carded for alcohol and such; no one had ever bothered before.

Vance was a really great guest. One of the better ones in a while.

QOTD: When I see bald people I think, “I hope I don’t go bald ever”.

what a lovely refreshing person!!! It is a shame we cannot find his wines here in the UK, but what a difference than the usual stuck up toffy tweets that make wine in France… I have to admit that I do find his prices a bit high, you can get a top quality 2004 Brunello for that money, but since I have not tasted the wine I cannot really know. I am truly overwhelmed how nice and charismatic he is.

    QOTD: Ask me in 10 years… πŸ˜‰

QOTD: I am big, bald and beautiful!!!!

I can’t believe how much I want grilled sausage and vino right now; preferrably a zin.

Love the single vinyard wines…not so much the prices. Would like to have to seen Vance’s white wines showed. Let us know in Oct.

QOTD: I shave my head all while giving the middle finger to Mother Nature. Nuff said.

ps…I’m so stoked for a zin right now, I’m watching the Tony Coturi ep. AGAIN right now.

These two share some DNA! The Portuguese sausage sounds great. I love it with chunks of fatback, snout, tongue, ear, etc. Also love the flour and bread-based stuff (farinheira and alheira) Nothing better than a nice crispy-creamy farinheira with a pinot!

    QOTD: They?re fearless.
