I like these tighter, shorter shows but this one is possibly too short. You just can’t please some people!

Big shout Gary. been watching the show for some time now. I personally like the longer in-depth shows. Would love to see you taste some UK supermarket wines.

Hi Gary, glad to hear that people are licking the slick episodes but I’m not fussed about length really, longer episodes are fine by me as well. I’ts nice to be tight – but not that tight! 2 of my favourite episodes (J Robionson and H Schoma) are approaching 40 mins….

QOTD: Honestly, the Felton Road Pinot Noir that you sent out in the Oct. “B” wineclub. It was just not hitting my palate right….it did however, help me to realize that right now…I appreciate light, delicate, racy wines more than powerful or intense wines.
I also have to say that, I really love WLTV beacause I don’t know what you are going to throw at us. Some of my fav. episodes from the archives are the ones when you were out in NYC doing “restaurant week”, as well as super nerdy episodes (the show with Jeffery Davies stands out…) Just keep doing it, however you want to do it Gary…we know it will bring thunder:)

I like the tighter shows. I also like the longer shows where you’re tasting more wines or interviewing someone interesting. I’ll be happy with anything wine related (I am referring to some of the guests you’ve had in the past).

  • Gary,
I love the tight shows, but I can honestly say I also miss the drawn out intros and reading out some of the comments from previous shows and the 2, 3, or 4 QOTD’s. I know I can’t have my cake and eat it too. I like the pace, no nonsense, and great monologue tasting notes, but I just want you to know that I enjoy both formats.

QOTD: In the last 60 days, I was very disappointed by a job interview I had. The guy who interviewed me was one of those guys who hated his job, had been doing it for 30+ years, wanted out but didn’t think he could afford. He was interviewing me because his boss who was supposed to interview me left. I wanted to be the SOMM at this restaurant but they jerked me around. I had promise that I was going to rock that interview, but I got a dude interviewer. It sucked and I was disappointed.

Only 1 serious Bordeaux show this year, come on Gary, get back to more popular wines, most of us have tasted enough crap out there to know what we like, and what we, and by we I mean ME, like is BORDEAUX.

As long as everyone is commenting on the format, here is my 2 cents.

Monday through Thurs the show should be in this shorter, tighter format, but I would love a 25-30 minute show on “laid back” fridays (what happened to that anyway?).

This would allow comments, antics and tangents to be enojoyed when I have more time. Also … fridays are great for the 4-6 wine blind lineups.

QOTD: I stressed out on an MBA level finance exam and ran out of time.

Like the quicker shows. Every once in awhile you have to go crazy and have a two-parter and do some new stuff, but this is your bread and butter and it works so well. Keep it up!

My biggest deception recently : my first meeting with a Chablis wine from Raveneau : it was a 1998 Montée de Tonnerre paid about 50 euros. I hope the Buteaux and Valmur I bought at the same time from same vintage will be more interesting.
Very soft and pleasant attack, but the expected complexity was just not there.
    hi from France

  • Like the nice, tight shows. Good to see and talk to you in the rain in VA.

QOTD: Oh gee, last 60 days? Life is good and I’m choosing “joy” so finding few things to be bummed about. Ok, how about a close friend from Australia leaving to go back home. I was bummed about that.
