  • Sweet Portugal! Looking forward to how the 2007 Quinta Do Castro Douro goes over. The wife is a big Douro fan for flavor and value…the Palestro from WL is a ridonkulous deal.

  • wish i could try more portuguese wines as these all sounded totally up my alley. for whatever reason, all of the wine shops i seem to frequent don’t have much of a portuguese section at all. what’s up with that, nyc (and heck, CT too)?!

    QOTD: Goofy. Strictly because of the scene around the camp fire in “Stand By Me.”

  • Weirdness: During the Crasto tasting, the Monorail stopped behind Gary. Odd, since there’s definitely no station there.

    I will have to get my hands on that Cabriz for sure. Sounded right up my alley.

    QOTD: My fav character is Mickey. That might make me a bit boring, but I love the classics.

  • ooof! The Crasto takes it hard on the chops…it IS only the little brother of the Reserva… the 2005 Reserva was highly lauded and we were fortunate enough to try some and enjoyed it. Was maybe a better day for Vinho Verde, I guess?

    QOTD: Jack Skellington…it’s just his time of year too.

    I’m looking out of the window at a 40 degree day of steady drizzle. I’d been thinking it was kind of warm until I watched this! sigh
    I appreciated the polite audience, and the reminder to pick up some more Portuguese wines- it’s been a few months!

    I have been very impressed with the wines I have tried coming out of Portugal.

    I know of Alicante Bouschet and Tannat’s blending attributes, but have never experienced it as the up front flavor profile in a wine.

    Sorry I missed you in Seattle, hope to see you the next time around.
