how did i get the 1st 2 comments?

the spontaneity of this episode and the guy stopping by to get his book signed had me cracking up. Love that you kept that in without any edits. have fun on the tour Gary. Maybe give us an episode on yellow wines (vin jaunes) when you get back

  • Classic episode! Between Mr. Jones playing in the background and the random guy talking shop, this is as real as it gets.

QOTD: Never really in the mood at the airport for wine. Usually looking for beer spots in the terminal. I have popped open a bottle from a duty free shop that was suppose to be a gift. That was a hell of a layover…

QOTD: I’ve had a lot of wine at various airports around the country, but I can’t say that any of them have been very good. Nevertheless, I did have a 2005 Bordeaux (sorry, not a classified growth) at CDG (Paris-Charles de Gaulle) in November of 2008. I guess that ranks number one in the QOTD category.

Right in my back yard Gary I live 20 minutes from the airport!! I think the Dr.was on his own agenda….. lol

In 2005 we still could carry wine in our carry on baggage so we went to the Admirals Club and went to the back corner and popped a great bottle of 2003 Grace Family to celebrate the 2005 harvest we had just completed with Dick Grace

  • QOTD: Well most of the wine on the plane is plonk; probably when I had some “random” glass of red wine in first-class after getting a complimentary upgrade; I remember the meal was roasted duck. They only had “red” or “white”; and this was long before all of the airline cutbacks, about 5-7 years ago.

Loved it GV. That guy coming by to get the book signed was pretty cool.

QOTD: Never had wine on airport, but had a few pints of Guinness and FatTire on Dallas airport two years ago, and that was just prefect. Hit the spot. Ordered some chicken wings, some potato wedgies, and some beer. Heaven!

  • You were right there. La Bodega at terminals A and D has an extensive wine tasting menu with some decent noshes and without the cheesy music going in the background. Love it that you are doing episodes while traveling this much.

  • QOTD: Layover = As many beers as you can drink before you catch your next flight. Doesn’t matter what time of day it is.

  • Seems like you like green in your wines but not on your plate.
Prove us wrong and do a wine-food pairing episode with salads (tough match, I know) and/or green vegetables.

  • So great that the guy popped in with the book. My own personal QOTD for the Vayniacs: How many times did that guy mention that he was a doctor?

QOTD: It wasn’t me so much but my neighbor on the plane was a HAMMERED older woman (I’d guess around 40). She passed out with an exposed nipple. It wasn’t too shabby.
