the Germans make fantastic Pinot Bianco too. They call it Weissburgunder. The new wave winemakers such as Van Volxem and Keller, Becker and Schönleber are hot. I Drank a V.V. Weissburgunder the other day, at 10 Euro an absolute steal! Guess what? I had the same problem, that undefinable flavour, garlic and cinnamon, perhaps….. I couldn’t put my finger on it either. But good try!

Awesome! Alto Adige is one of my favorite regions for whites. Kerner and Muller Thurgau from here are pretty damn tasty as well. Try the Canitina Valle Isarco “Aristos” series and let them rock your palate. Seriously dude, the ’06 Kerner changed my life. (In CA the Muller retails for $15 and the Kerner for $26)

Another very interesting episode. Thanks for continuing to try to introduce new varietals to the Vaynernation. I think I have had a Pinot Bianco, but certainly not more than one or two at most. I am intrigued to say the least.

fantastic show I’m really getting in to Italian wines at the moment so i totally agree with you on how underrated they are which is a good thing as you can get some great bargains!

QOTD: I’m a avid wine student studying a wine business degree! I love expanding my knowledge of wine everyday through reading, watching and talking to people as much as i can also looking around creating my wine lists . I also love to play a bit a golf now and again and from time to time get down the athletic track and throw some HAMMER!!!!. but the work for my degree is my first objective atm.

Bought a 07 Colli Euganei Vignalta Piono Bianco in my never ending venture to “expand my palette”. It was amazing, so i searched the varietal on your show. Loved to see your excitement about it! Thank you for the never ending encouragement to try new wine!! It paid off in spades this time!
