    GV,

Ironic that you had a craving for the buttery chards. Last night (11/17) I did too so I went and watched your past episode on “Carneros” and busted out a Rombaur 07 chard. You were spot on that it was massive butter and oak all the way. I used to dig that syle, but now I’d rather go with something with more AE and complexity.

QOTD: I’ll be up in the bay area with my folks, wife and baby girl. Can’t beat that. Maybe I’ll get to Napa and try some of the 07 cabs I’ve been hearing about!

  • Gary,
Great show, sometimes when we crave it is good to satisfy the need. I agree on the Ramey, very subdued and one dimensional. Ramey does one of the best cabs I have tasted out of Cali. I have to say that I am absolutely giddy that the Patriots lost. You have to love the hubris of Belecheck. As far as turkey day, I’m am having my five children and four grandchildren over and I am supplying the wine. This year I am going with ’07 southern Rhone especially the ones that are dominated by grenache. I am in a total grenache frame of mind this season. I think the spice of the wine will match up well with the food. Of course, I will throw in a couple of zins to make everyone happy. I will spread the word about cinderellawine.com to my friends and am looking forward to making that awesome purchase myself. Have a great Thanksgiving!

    Biggie Smalls on WLTV? Beautiful.

You should have linked up that song for everybody.

I’m bringing Venison Dolmatis, I’m sure a hardcore dolma fan will clarify that dolma with meat in it is not dolma, please correct me.

Great Cali Chard I recently had is Talbott Audrey’s Cuvee. It had this awesome raw honey play, insane with Chevre.

QOTD: Bringing 6 bottles and setting up a tasting for the gf’s family. Want them to appreciate wine, but where is that thin line between wine lover and wine snob? I’m definitely the former, and definitely not the latter – but knowing a bit about wine and enjoying tasting it in sniffs and sips smaller than gulps makes some people think you’re on the snob side of the fence…

But I just picked up the Thanksgiving secret pack, so maybe I’ll let you run the show, Gary.

The Thanksgiving pack is my first purchase from WL. I’m just worried that none of my family will actually try the wines with me and, even though it is the holidays, I don’t think I can do four bottles by myself.

QOTD: I’ll cook Alton Brown’s brined turkey.

Gary the reason we get mad at such expensive cali Chards, is those Premiere and Grand Crus have locked off deliniated sites .. Clos de Mouches can’t expand.. very limited. However there is craploads of area we can call Russian River or Sonoma coast.. not a limited production or lack of space.
