‘I’m quite bored by it and I’m almost taking a nap.’

After a couple of bore draws this episode turns up a decisive and surprising winner of the head to head. Makes for a much better show.

  • Great episode, I’m really loving these blind head-to-head tastings. Also, I’m a newbie, and am trying not to be such a lurker 🙂
QOTD: I really want the Planet Earth series DVDs and some new books to read over my holiday break from college.

Good tasting. I have never had a Oregon pinot, because i am still trying to focus myself on old world regions and not yet have the money to spend on American wines.

    SO I GUESS

QOTD: A good bottle of internationally recognized american wine.

Gee, blind tasting two Willamette pinots side by side. Way to go out on a limb guy and challenge yourself. Next we’ll be comparing two Lodi White Zinfandels.

I want a 61′ Latour. Was born in 61′ and will never taste a 61′ unless you give it to me.

Way to stomp on the Beaux Freres also. You’re paying $16-18 for the wine and $16-18 because Bob Parker’s name is associated with it. Glad the other wine was a more sincere effort.

I went through a number of ’07 Oregon Pinots (for a column I write in Oregon) and was ready to sum up the vintage as rather thin and only mildly interesting and then, at a tasting staged by a small distributor, I found Penner-Ash, Redmond (winemaker Michael Beckley) and Tony Soter wines, all 2007s. I think these Yamhill County grapes, coincidently close neighbors of Beaux Freres, had the luxury of hanging on the vine a little longer in pockets of warmer air and the results were excellent. Especially those of Lynn Penner-Ash

+1 for Marcia, below. Comparing different vintages seems like a flawed way to do this.

Fun show. Have been off the Pinot thing lately mostly b/c of cost. Trying to keep my “school-night” wines under $12 and that is very tough for pinot.

QOTD: Looking forward to sitting with my family and drinking some nice wine. Brought a few bottles up for Thanksgiving and my bro was really not feeling the Roussilion red that I was loving. Going to bring some new world love (more his style)- maybe an Argertina Malbec or something from Spain.
As for a material thing, a nice 2007 Cdp would be great, but the wife & I agreed to only get presents for the kids…

  • Gary, good episode, I definitely want to see if I can get my hands on some evening land. Great upset!

QOTD: I want a new pair of shoes, those reebok pumps, I’ve been oogling over them for a long long time. I just recently found myself in a new kind of freedom where I can actually do and wear things that I really want to do. I want those pumps and I’m gonna sport them proud.
