  • Torrontes show! Great call. These are…were very much under the radar for the longest time…thanks for being responsible for the price hike that will now inevitably occur in 6 months GV! Just kidding. We reviewed the 2007 Crios on our blog (http://creativejuicesllc.wordpress.com/?s=torrontes) , and loved it so much that we dropped 93 on it! We may have gone overboard, but from a value perspective, it’s tough to beat. Definitely one of the top Torrontes that have danced across our palates in the past year or so.

QOTD: The late great Reggie Lewis of the Boston Celtics.

    Cheers!

Longtime lurker coming out of his shell for the first time after Gary’s heart-to-heart!

QOTD – 35 makes me think of the Eagles’ saftey – Macho Harris. What a bozo…

Also, just wanted to point out that I saw Gary randomly while watching a special on David Chang. Fast forward to 11:40 of the video below.

  • I always felt Torrontes smelled way too flowery! Maybe I need to try it with guacamole and beans. Now I see you’re recommending wines on myrecipes.com. You’re so fun to watch, Gary! Big fan!

  • Killer memory from old school days right? Hey, it got me thinking back to high school myself. My nose sucks though. So I’m not pulling up any old scents.

  • Nice. If anyone has the chance you should seek and try Premium Torrontes from AltaVista wines- http://www.garalysoka.com/vinos/2009/3/15/altavista-torrontes-2008.html there’s so much going on in these wines aromatically speaking like GaryVee said, and a lot of herbal, grassy flavors (for me at least). Good show. Like it.

QOTD: 35, makes me think that together they make 8(5+3), the times I’ve flown solo.

Dude, you totally googled this and lifted it from:
    http://www.virtuescience.com/35.html
    Come on, fess up!!

  • I had the same thought for the QOTD

  • Anonymous

hahaha this is a great catch

  • Don Simpson

    Bringing the THUNDER!

  • Don Simpson

So Alamos makes good Malbec? I always see it but I haven’t picked one up yet. I will grab one soon. Thanks!

  • Don Simpson

I was wondering the SAME thing! Lets hope Gary has a good memory.

  • Don Simpson

I TOTALLY forgot about lava lamps, hahaha. That is hilarious…

  • Don Simpson

“thank god you weren’t singing.” – that is hilarious

  • Gary’s memory is off the hook like his sniffy-sniff.

  • Dude! This is the clip for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4EoN4nr5FQ

  • Ron

Yeah, that was actually the second thing that came to my mind.

  • Andrew

Sorry…forgot to answer the QotD –
When I think of 35 I think of 3 + 5 = 8 which reminds me of Hall of Fame Steve Young!
    Go 49ers!

  • lawschooldrunk

    first?!

  • lawschooldrunk

must be the twitter outage. 😉

  • slushpuppy

    Smell it first. TR

I wish I had something better going on this holiday than cracking the top 10 🙂

  • cellarrat5

yeeeeeaahhhh my fix is in!! top ten!

  • ONUMello

I think I would have been #1 had comments not been down for the last 1/2 hour! My thoughts soon…

  • 35 = old? lol, that’s what I thought till I turned 35 7 years ago… Now 55 is old, and I’m STILL YOUNG!!! LOL

  • benkearney

    I'm in.

  • Looking forward to this later tonight Gary

  • guymandude

That was cool video, thank god you weren't singing.

qotd; means a long time for your folks, congrats.

  • I wonder if the Bit O Honey would have paired well with the wine?

  • Honest to God you two are wasting your considerable talents with this wine stuff. Clearly you two were born to be rough riders, 'slinging crack rocks' in the hood.

I don't even know why I'm here – I don't like wine but I still watch the videos? Clearly a broken man.

  • lawschooldrunk

Screwing…by the pool?! Good catch there 🙂

Happy anniversary, Grandma and Grandpa V!

    QOTD: 7X5 = 35. That's the first thing I think of.

  • wayno daaa wino

    YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW, I'm IN !!!!!!!!!! :o)

  • In after wayno daaa wino! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • I turned at least 4 or 5 friends onto the 2008 Crios and they are still my friends!

QOTD: Number 35… I thought of an age I used to be.

  • ONUMello

Nice save on the 'screwing by the pool' haha. Good music vid too. Wonder how long until the second bottle sells out? I'd get one except I just had the Alamos torrontes, and placed a rather large Snow Day Gourmet Library order.
I guess the QOTD will have to wait for a few hours as I'm about to board my plane and this vid is taking FOREVER to load in the Denver airport.

  • cellarrat5

Good show, I always dig the newer varietals I am not familiar with. I have been drinking any white I can get my hands on and it is largely thanks to you Gary! Hilarious comment on the 20 year old stoner?s room. I got a picture of some guy in a dorm room burning sandalwood incense with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin posters plastered all over the wall, lava lamps, old alcohol bottles with highlighter soaked water in them, and the vague must of some DANK Purple Kush wafting out the windows (if he knows the right peeps).

QOTD: number of years I hope this show will keep bringing the thunder

  • johnfarrin

QOTD: Really interesting question for me because I was always expected to be a “boy” wonder. Well, if you arrive at that age and you're not, the pressure is off and you can start living your life the way YOU want. I actually always laughed at all the people who jumped on the “you have soooo much potential” bandwagon because not one of them bothered to tell me for WHAT!

  • Xavier

just turned 32.. not trying to think of 35 just yet 😉
Torrontes definately an interesting grape.. haven't had too many yet but they are fairly unique.

  • hypersomnia

    QOTD: My next birthday.

  • Torrontes is really interesting grape variety.

QOTD: It makes me think of the new organic wine from Vina San Pedro (Castillo de Molina, Gato Negro) called 35 South. I do not like it!

I love the shows! Big fan of Cindy to. Gary, I get this “I saw a puddy Cat” flashback on some of your openings. Enjoyed the Video! Bit-o-honey was my ticket out of school to see the orthodontist. I wore braces from 6th grade to Freshmen year of college.

    QOTD: 53..I'm Dyslexic

  • MarkFitzpatrick

great show….”16-year old girls room, or 20-year old stoner dude”

    #35 Tony Esposito

I knew the Chest Bump would be an instant classic. Glad we shot that before you hurt your knee a few weeks later.

  • Daria Kushmelyn

I'm either a lurker or a stalker, there's no inbetween (is that one word?). Anyway, the number 35 doesn't mean much to me. Thanks for showcasing three cheap wines – hopefully Toronto sells some of the same Torrentes you had on the show, esp La Yunta. I love your descriptions of smell and taste, and I went on that Bahamas vacation when I was 19, so I had a good laugh. Happy 35th to your parents! Has your mother ever been on the show? I think all of you are the archetypal American (North American) family – that's what this place is all about, some people just take it further than others – and that happens through drive and hard work. Good for the Vaynerchuks.

  • WhoDat_Noir

Gary my boy!!! a little value play
I like it unfortunately you didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.
Torrentes is the white that got me into whites… I grew up thinking whites were only for the ladies so I steered clear… But a good while back I had a lady over for dinner and I picked up a Torrentes made by one my favorite Malbec producers (Alamos) and I said why not…
For 11 US bones it blew my mind…
Now there is always a bottle in my house and I'm still in search for an equally good quality Torrentes. Gonna have to try some of the ones u tested today

  • CBone

Hey Gary, it is nice to see people speak so highly about their family. I feel the same way about mine. I'd be lost without all the love they've always given me.

QOTD: 35 makes me think of my age this coming April, and how I'll be halfway to 70!

  • SS_Chris

    Dude…I LUUUV Bit o Honey!!!

  • I also thought about being halfway to 70. It is also the age I was when I bought a boat load of 2005 Bordeaux!!! Best wine year so far!!!

  • scotty b

Big shout out to the parents that are still together…love you too mom & dad!

QOTD: My younger bro turned 35 this month. It's also a nice discount for Cindy Wines 35% off! I'm looking forward to tonight's offering.

  • Happy Anniversary to your parents! Great save on the screwtop comment, btw. Totally want to grab some Torrontes for the spring and summer now…

QOTD: The old “cutoff” age for demographics? (ie 18-35)

  • Jeff Dorough

I think of how old i will be this August. Great show, Congrats to your parents, 35 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is rare these days. Keep up the good work.
