Hell yeah, I was thinking Candy Maldonado when GV couldn’t get it right either!

Gary, FYI, a good general rule of thumb to follow when reading spanish words is that unless the word has an accent above one of the letters, the natural accent is stressed on the second to last syllable (usually) You should be safe most of the time following this rule.

qotd: i remember the most idiotic tie, that was the 2002 MLB Allstar Game that ended in a 7-7 tie… BTW GO GIANTS!!!! TIMMY FOR CY YOUNG, 3X WOOHOO!

would never claim pbr is of any quality, but the price is always right.

  • Anonymous

pbr always tastes so good when its snowing…especially hanging out after snowboarding.

…being in college i thought i would hold out on making an immature joke. but i am glad someone did! haha

Dude, It sucks all the way to Florida!

  • NY Pete

hey Dave, that’s why u fly to FLA.

  • Anonymous

    where is SS?

  • Anonymous

    Hazelnut butter. mmmmm good.

  • SourGrapesFC

You know that he knew he shouldn’t have said it as soon as it came out. There’s a moment there when you can see him trying to get that last second back, but he pulled a real pro “show must go on” move and barely batted an eye lash.

  • Bee_Dub

Kudos on that reference!!! Pitchers and catchers are reporting!!!

  • Bee_Dub

No good on the Boone’s slap . . . you obviously don’t know that the lead singer of Tool (Maynard) is a complete wine nut. He is producing his own wine these days, in AZ of all places. Oh yeah . . . he has appeared on WLTV in a 45 minute episode. yup.

  • Caduceus, at least for naynard

  • Anonymous

Thanx NY Pete I will try and find it.

  • Haven’t heard from SS in some time now.

  • Very cool.

  • Great topic. Love good Cali chards

  • Bring back the laid-back Friday couch! Today would have been perfect.

  • GV “NUTS IN MY MOUTH”

Tie – Turley Dusi 2006 & Four Vines Dusi 2006

  • castello

    top 5?

  • Well Great. Not really into Chardonnay but would love to try the Maldonado (BTW here's a little tip for reading that: Mal-Don-Ado, if you split the name it's much easier to read properly)

(side note: I've noticed you've been wearing a lot of branded clothing and I wonder if it's a PR thing that you're doing with Vaynermedia or is this something else, and if I send you a Tee would you wear it? just curious)

QOTD: something that is sort of a tie but not really, is a comparison between a Cirrus SR22 and a Columbia (now Cessna) 350 airplanes.

  • 6th!!!! Yeah!!!!

  • Great head-2-head… can find the Highland locally, so I'll pick that up…

QOTD: I have no idea… a little brain dead this Friday…

  • SourGrapesFC

“a nice amount of nuts in my mouth”– Ha!

QOTD: Vancouver and Washington, D.C. for freakish weather.

  • Screw Parker!

  • Joe Trdinich

Come on Gary, get the name right. It's Mal-do-na-do! Like ex-Giant baseball player Candy Maldonado !

Last tie–not sure. There are no ties–like kissing your sister.

  • lawschooldrunk

will this be a “popcorn' episode? top 20!

  • mattgmann

QOTD: My love of wine vs My habitual PBR consumption

  • richE

    GV Thanks for the episode.

So the Maldonado tasted like HONEY-SCOTCH…….nice

  • mattgmann

related to my personal philosophy tie, should I drink wine or PBR tonight in the snow covered wonderland that ohio is these days. If wine, what wine?

  • SamKw

So it seems WL managed to secure a few cases of the Maldonado since you had this episode filmed? From your description, it sounds like a wine that I might really enjoy. The new world wines that I most appreciate are those that have some old world complexity to them. And if you feel that you enjoyed Maldonado more, then why not give it the upper hand? I thought WLTV was all about trusting your own palate πŸ˜‰

QOTD: Last night's Manchester United vs. Aston Villa match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

I checked out Gourmet TV yesterday and I'm a happy camper regarding the prices and selection. The one thing that jumps out though is the product videos are a bit choppy in the sense that unlike WLTV & GV, the folks at Gourmet Library don't have a lot of product knowledge. For a laugh check out the video for D'Artangon Duck Fat. That said, The guy with the huge beard does seem to know a thing or two about cheese.

  • MelbaLI

I just finished watching #818 and I was going to comment when it flipped to #819. 2-in-one-day white winothon. Love it!

QOTD: Tied. My love of NIN and TOOL.

PS: A suggestion about Gourmet Library. You need to offer sampler packs, like 4 hard cheeses, soft cheeses, mix cheeses and so on. Maybe, limited edition gift baskets of GL recommended fruit, cheese or chocolate. I apologize if you have it already but I just didn't see it on the site if you don't, I let you know where to send the royalty check πŸ˜‰

  • mattgmann

scratch that. just found a sixer of bell's two hearted in the vegetable crisper

  • Great show, Gary. Technically a lurker but have left a few comments over the past year.

Say it with me now: MAL – DO – NA – DO Haha!

QOTD: Loudness tie: You on WLTV and my baby nephew when he's upset.

  • Don't know Gary…

Qotd: something you wear around your neck…!?

Wasn't really feelin' this episode… A bit MEH! Cali Chards… Meh big time!

  • Anonymous

Glad to know, and that makes sense. I love all the inside references and pop culture homages on TTS. Thanks for the fyi πŸ™‚

  • Tom Mok

A shout-out from a big Man U fan. I saw that game on MSG a few days ago. I always hate it when Manchester United draws with a lesser team. They should be kicking butts! Also watched the UEFA game against AC Milan. That's what I am talking about.

  • Tom Mok

Gary, I used to have a co-worker whose last name is Maldonado. It is pronounced as mal-don-NAH-do.

  • Very weak today GV, first you pull the Cali chards ,then can't grow a pair and make a decision, & then you keep on plugging the Maldonado pretty hard.

QOTD: I don't believe in ties

  • Green_Pea

Killer Show GV, I love the head to heads. There are no ties. There is first and second, and second is the first to loose. Just kidding; well maybe a little.

  • jayhitek

QOTD: No question. Rocky I. Rocky and Apollo's first fight ends in draw. Greatest tie in history.

  • Go Mott!…with the honey call.
I'm rarely into the CA-Chards, but the white Burgundies that my partner has been bringing back from the source have me intrigued enough to drop the prejudice, and start trying them again, so I picked up a couple in a mixed case yesterday.

  • SamKw

Just realized the game was not last night, but a few days before. But in any case, I do agree that the result of that game was disappointing for Man U. This season's not been an easy one, though.

  • QOTD – my excitement level when my wife is watching Lifetime or Oxygen

Can't help it, “nuts in my mouth” gets me everytime. How to turn a 42 year old into a 14 year old in 3 seconds or less. Have a great weekend.

  • castello

PBR ain't what it used to be. At least on the west coast. Watered down bud.

  • laurieinvt

    Like the T-shirt!

  • castello

Last nights figure skating final. Soooo Close. Lukily the Russian got a little sideways.

  • My juvenile laughed at “nuts in my mouth” – I'm such an adult. I like the head to head battles as well and think that this was a great quick episode.

QOTD: Tie – my hate for every Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy.

  • laurieinvt

    Good call, Mott! πŸ™‚
