    Hey!!!
Rad idea. An ep where we can vote on a wine we taste along with!

  • Anonymous

    Agreed

  • bobbytiger

    Gary. Repeat after me. Slowly.
    Mal doe naa doe.
When I think of ties, I think of something hanging (primarily) around a mans neck, (tied in a knot of course), or something under a train track. A close second, would be the curling event in the what's going on in Canada now. My gosh, how boring. Call it a tie. Now.
    Having said that,
love the head to heads. These wines sparked my interest, and as soon as warmer weather comes around, (if ever), I'm all over the these selections.

  • Redmeat1969

    Latest tie?

How about getting dog crap on my shoe…and how DISQUS never accepts my password and I have to reset each tie!!

….other than that…I have a Tie for 2005/2006 El Nido Clio….I had them both this last weekend…and could not find a winner…I loved them Equally!

  • ladychainsaw

Just discovered this awsomeness last night, now I'm going to have to watch all the back episodes!

  • Kayla28

Thank you so much Carlo for taking the time to reply to my question. I will definitely try this places

  • howitzer

A tie is like kissing your sister….

  • bromidedrag

The Oak Monster and Butter Bandit have been pretty absent lately. But I like buttery chards… I'm crazy like that.

  • Cool episode, I'm trying desperately to get back into California chards after avoiding them for years and hanging with the Burgundies.

  • One correction:

Wine Exchange is on Tustin Ave. in Orange.

    Carlo P.

  • Welcome 🙂

  • 😉 thnx bro!

Hey, I cooked your shimp recipe on Valentines Day and it was great. TX!

  • NY Pete

hey ya frackin' vagabond, what fair city r u in tonight?

  • SeattleSteveW

QOTD: Its a tie between Blind Tastings and Head to Head Tastings.
So Gary I think you should do more of both!

  • Thanks for the great words about the KJ Chardonnay!

    Nice H-t-H, G. Thanks.

    QOTD: Cindy & WTSO

QOTD: Last thing that was a tie…..USA 2 Costa Rica 2 after USA was down 2 at half, stormed back and a tie was enough to put them in 1st for WC qualifying, crushing the ticos and bringing celebration in politically troubled Honduras. Time to learn about South African wines in preparation for WC2010

  • castello

Where do you get Clio, and how much?

  • zrm

QOD: Me and my roomate tonight for best costume at an arrested development themed costume party. He's Gob with all the gimmicks (a hundred pennies shooting out lighter fluid etc) and I am Dr Tobias Funke after an unsuccessful hair transplant.(http://images2.fanpop.com/images/quiz/78565_1224614921207_500_280.jpg)

QOTD : Last thing that was a tie, Canada vs Switzerland men's hockey last night! Well, until the shootout came… 😀

Intriguing battle though, too bad only one of those chardonnays is available in Quebec (the Camelot Highlands one, 1 bottle left in the whole province…)

  • castello

Does Bittman do a video blog? I guess I'll google it. He was great in that Spanish tour with Mario B and the lovely ladies.

  • Great episode.

QOTD: Wow great question….I kind of wanted that Vikings, Saints NFC game to end in a tie, and really either team could have won it; for me that game was better than the Super Bowl.

  • AntonT

I think the price difference broke that tie for me!!

  • I am a big Chardonnay lover and the Maldonado has me a little excited, I want to taste that wine real bad!! need to seek that out.

  • At least your commenting…most people don't even do that…LOL

  • ONUMello

QOTD: To me, every bit of the Olympics is a tie. I know 27-thousands of a second does separate silver from gold, but come on, when push comes to shove that's the exact same time and they're all amazing.

  • leapinggnome

QOTD: It's a tie: Gary V with a guest vs. Gary V solo. Or Laid Back Fridays vs. Blind Tastings. Or next years Super Bowl – Jets and Saints.

  • jamesculp

Just did bacon and eggs and biscuits for dinner tonight with a great Virginia meritage. It's nice being a grown-up 🙂

  • QOTD: 2010 figure skating.
Like the head to head, repeat, play again.

  • winecrazy

Homey, I'm glad to see you butcher other peoples names like you do mine….lol

I'm surprised Wayno hasn't corrected you yet. But come to think of it, let me do that for him. I'm sure it's Maaahhhl Ah Naaaahdo….if you catch my drift.

QOTD: I think Pete Townshends guitar playing at the super bowl = static between channels on your radio. I'm sorry but that guys guitar was so off it was embarrassing.

  • The arguement I had with my wife this morning ended in a tie. She usually wins!

Great way to start the weekend, then great also to see the Chard head to head.

  • QOTD: Tie between Me & Ed's & Round Table Pizza's combo pizza.

I gotta try these chards. I do not like the oak monster at all, so these two are on my shopping list.

  • leni

Thanks! I'm just figuring out what I like in a wine (really, so far, what I DON'T like), I'm more of a Scotch gal. Hopefully this site will help me out!

  • chukheadted

shaq and kobe were 2009 all-star co mvps. ties suck

  • RhoneDrinker

When is the laid back Friday Couch going to return?

  • WineWoman

I was looking for it today also.

  • WineWoman

QOTD: Mal-do-na-do Lately, most Olympic events.

  • ONUMello

    @RhoneDrinker AMEN!!!

  • fcindc

Gary – love the show, but seriously, were you a little tipsy today?

  • I'm no pervert but “THERE'S A GOOD AMOUNT OF NUTS ON MY MOUTH!!!” GARY!! But seriously, I think you need about an hour+ more sleep. We'll forgive you!

  • I am totally surprised by the Maldonado/ Kendall Jackson relationship. Anyone else?

  • Pat__B

I'll bet there is a tie when 900 Vayniacs try to call Maldonado at once….

  • Lisa S

I want to try the Maldonado, Gary!
Love many Calif chards that are not complete oak monster, butter balls, such as Talbott and Ramey, as well as Artesa 2007, Qupe, Neyers, Trefethen and Cuvaison for example. White burgundies are wonderful but higher price point for good stuff. Great show!

  • Well, Gary, I guess by now you got the message about pronouncing maldoeNAHdoe and describing nut locations. All is forgiven, because you put us on to 2 good chards. Plus your comment that KJ Highland Estates makes some “fierce” wines is, IMHO, right on target – for example, the Trace Ridge Cab '05. Too bad it's 70 bucks (or bones) list. Can't win 'em all.

    Carlo P.

  • Yeah.. who knew? Will seek out the Maldonado and compare to KJ Grand Reserve. 🙂

  • kungfu_sage

ok now i've been going out of my way to drink as many sparkling wines as I could for the last few weeks, just waiting for you to do your sparkling week, when's it gonna hit?

also how do you say “there's all kinds of nuts in my mouth” and not even crack a smile?

  • d000d

Say it with me Gary… Mal-do-nah-do… hahah

QOTD: For some reason the 2002 tie in the MLB all-star game cemented Bud Selig's legacy… not sure how that happened but c'est la vie…

  • QOTD: “Harvard Beats Yale 29-29” on DVD.
Good show. I'm surprised an old baseball card collector is having trouble pronouncing “Maldonado”. Don't you remember this guy?
