It is about time that we have some Fing big expensive wines, I have the money, tired of these cheap ass wines. Is that an Fing Vaynerchuk BOBBLEHEAD!?!?! WHERE CAN WE GET ONE? I need one on my desk at work.

QOTD: Rare… I think this was a QOTD in the past.

  • QOTD: med rare!

  • Gary you are a class act. Thnx for bringing the thunder & for the honesty.

    Remember that couch tomorrow!!!

    Qotd: Rare to medium.

Lol on this ep; “um.. um….” (Gary like), and Motts freshmints ; ) “Tryin' to smell nice”, that's funny to me. thnx Mott, you rule big time. “USA, USA, USA…!”

Thnx for bringing the Big ass glasses back! What can i say: I LOVE this show! Cheers!

  • Gayle

What's with the bobble-head? Love it!
    QOTD: med-rare

  • adrums

I'm clearly not GV, but; even then, it's still a good idea to rinse any dust, or particulate matter from the glass before the first “official” and “market-moving” sniff and whirl…

  • WAW!

Nice show. Very very curious about the Crocker & Starr!

QOTD: RARE. Only way to enjoy steak. 😉

  • Hey man, where have you been? Haven't seen you in a long time… what are you up to these days?

  • LOL

  • ChicagoMatt

QOTD: Steakhouse Med Rare. Not too medium.

Definitely bring more comments on pairings.

  • jayhitek

QOTD: Medium. Recently had a Pittsburg Medium and it was insanely awesome!

  • Meh,

QOTD: However the chef recommends, but medium in general with no red but hot pink in color.

  • tortillaflat

    QOTD: Rare to Med-Rare.

Loved the show today, more comments on pairing would be appreciated. What about trying to get Andrew Dornenburg or Karen Page on sometime to discuss pairings?

  • johnfarrin

QOTD: On the rare side of medium-rare.

Too bad Crocker & Starr is $80. Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!

  • “Population: most american wine drinkers!” 🙂

QOTD: medium rare or rare if there is wine in the glas, medium for the beer

four sips today???? thats a first?

Pichon Comtesse reference, nice 🙂 Can't get hold of that Crocker in Sweden 🙁

  • johnfarrin

Been posting later. Have been doing the personal chef catering thing. What can I tell you? Peeps like my food!

  • Good show! Out of my price range for now, but I'll get on the mailing list. Once I'm rolling I'll be glad to be on the mailing list, haha. Definitely like my steak rare 🙂

  • mob515

Black and blue is the way to go. Bone-in RibEye cut of choice. While this is not fashionable I love Cali Cabs — thanks for adding the Crocker to my list. Larkmead is been my favorite go-to pricey choice — but I'll give this a whirl

  • castello

QOTD I've taken to the test kitchen way for pan fry or bbq steak. Warm it up in a 250 oven for about 10-15 minutes till about 90 degrees(f) in the middle of the steak. Then grill or pan fry till it's about 120-130 degrees in the middle. You get less grey/gray colored meat and more pink. Yum with a BIG ASS CAB in a BIG ASS GLASS!

  • You my man,,, When shall i be there? ; )

    I could bring the glasses!

  • erikwait

Question: I know that are convinced that Reidel stemware makes a difference in how you perceive a wine for I've seen you do the test yourself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=886KA1jLal4). So, why should I believe that you are perceiving the wines correctly when you use the exact same glass (and the incorrect ones to boot) for every wine in this show?

Nice, compact and satisfying show. Crocker and Starr sounds great (also a 93 from Tanzer, fwiw) though a tad pricey for me (compared to Larkmead, Chappellet, Snowden, etc.)
QOTD: Grass fed. On the rare side of medium-rare (circa 112 degrees F). A nice deep brown crust (not quite charred) on both sides, plenty of salt and pepper.

  • Tom

QOTD: Medium (although I have been working my way down from well done over the past 10 years)

  • adrums

It's a great technique. Only works for fairly thick steaks though, so be forewarned!

  • drt999

QOTD — thick, and medium on the grill so it's still juicy without being pink

  • jolieelman

I really enjoyed this episode. Thanks Gary!

  • Ok, good to have you back ; )

  • Top 11, got ya man! ; )

  • ReubenLW

Yep Pittsburg style on a nice NY strip.

  • DaveyJohnson

    QOTD: Med Rare

  • 920albert

1 1/2″ thick and medium rare.

  • ninefingers

Medium rare (pink). Remember drinking 1963 George De Latour PR while touring the Beaulieu winery in 1968. I enjoyed Louis Martini CS 1965 better!!

  • laurieinvt

QOTD: Medium rare. (gotta get just over the magic 140 degrees farenheit unless I know the farm and the farmer that raised the beef and which slaughter house…)

Wish I had a spare $80 for the Crocker & Starr!

  • johnr

Great show…..I just think its hard to ball 90 bones for 05 Cali Cabs with 05 Bordeaux's falling down in price. I think 05 Cali is nice, but 05 Bordeauxs are redunkulous! my 2 cents….

QOTD: Med, however most steak places always over cook anyway…..

  • WTG Cali! Wish I had some extra $ to drop on Crocker & Starr. I love hearing the food pairings…I tend to jump to that in my mind when I drink or taste.

QOTD: The better half and I are medium-rare for steaks, chef's rec for other meats.

  • The food and wine pairing helps me a lot. I have had some help from a friend where a wine I might not like is just great with the right food.

QOTD: Knock it on the head, wipe it?s nose and put it on the table.

  • jenna35

new wristband or shirt would be amazing, Gary!!!! (side note, ever consider selling a wristband vintage pack…meaning offer all of the wristbands for purchase) I've noticed Wine Library only have bringing the thunder and vayner nation. I still look everytime I go to the store!
    QOTD-medium to medium well

  • Brian R

Loved it. QOTD: I like strip-streaks rare. My next steak will be Black and Blue.

  • erikwait

QOTD: Filet Mignon, Med-Rare with blue cheese crumbles
