Lines of the day, This wine smells like a steak’ and Mott’s pretentious home run, ‘would you say it’s big but it doesn’t lose control’. I bet Mott can’t believe he said that.

Steee – rike. Great show helped by a couple of stonking wines

  • Listen up Vaynerchuk. Bru-ha-ha is my word. No thieving!

I am curious why you love the Oakness Monster in Chardonnays but not in the Cabernet.

QOTD: The best time was 2004 World Series. I believe it was game 7. I was at Mohegan Sun celebrating my birthday. I was at the bar surrounded by Sox fans. When they find out I was from NY, they started to raze me but I said I was a Mets fan so they forgave me. They were nice enough to pay my tab, get me a cake with a candle and sing happy birthday. So just before I blew out the candle I said “I wish for the Mets to win the World Series next year and………..the Sox to beat the Yankees” and rest is history.

    Yup…all my fault.

For you Gary; QOTD: If the Justin was tasted in a brown bag how would you have rated it?

  • mattgmann

    hoping these aren't disappointments……

    Pirates. Clemente and Stargell

  • alexandrecf

Hey Gary, GREATTTTT show, really really GREAT. You are the man.

QOTD : we don't really watch baseball here in Brasil, it's all about soccer, but like the Mets.

cheers from Brasil, you are changing the brazilian's wine world.

  • Brouhaha? Ha ha ha…
    Ha ha ha ha ha….
Wait…Wait a minute. Don't you want this doorknocker?

  • paulbrady

Tigers and Red Wings fan for life. But since I moved out to the NYC/NJ area, I've become quite taken with the Devils. Brian Rolston is a Michigander and still going strong! Gary still waiting for the Primitivo/Zin mystery to be explained. Could you do a show comparing those?

  • mattgmann

nice to see pinot make an appearance……I've been off of pinot for quite a while because of the qpr gamble. I'd like to see an under $20 pinot show.

  • mariobnskn

    San Diego Padres.

“water that tastes like a chocolate milkshake” = Yoohoo

  • Phaser

Tigers, not a die hard fan, just the home town team. Now the Lions, there's a team, (as long as you don't look at the scores) 🙂

  • He can have “Brouhaha” but Bru-ha-ha is mine! Mine all mine! (nice save right?)

“What knockers! Why thank you doctor….” 😉

  • WpgGord

Why can't I ever remember how to log in to post a comment?

  • mattgmann

    too much vino

  • gotsha

QOTD..Phighten Phils….go flyers…and Chi White Sox (O'bama has good taste now and then).

    11/18/10? – Bob Parker?

How long will it take me to get this comment deleted from backtype.com?

  • Oakmon's BF

QOTD: The Phillies, both championship years were big. ?80 I enjoyed with my dad who is no longer with us. ?08 I enjoyed with my sons who never got to meet my dad.

  • mattgmann

CINCINNATI REDLEGS!!!! 1990, Nasty Boys. Rob Dibble, Randy Myers and Norm Charlton. I can't believe the reds haven't won a pennant in 20 years. And it may be another 20 before they do again. Just dropped 5 games in a row…..3 of them to Pittsburgh. Keep an eye out for Aroldis Chapman though. Cuban defector the reds signed in January. He's at with the River Bats down in Louisville at the moment fanning batters with 100+mph heat….AS A LEFTY!

  • Thursday

    …the Justin was 89 RP

qotd: ANGELS in the AL & DODGERS in the NL, YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAW !!!!!!!!!

  • guymandude

Funny you said Big Red machine, my Grandfather was a scout for them at that time so it was a big deal then. Now ,I gotta go with the Yanks or Philly, I know, but it's a long story.

  • robrx

We had 4 generations of NY Yankee fans until my grandpa passed a few years ago. He and my dad were at Don Larsen's perfect game in the 56' Series.

2004 Red Sox – the great comeback against the Yankees with Mark Bellhorn at second base and Johnny steroids Damon in Center field

  • jaybloxham

QOTD: Yankees baby!! Here comes # 28
I am so glad you tried the Foxen wine. I have been wanting to order some of their wine ever since I saw them on John Cleese's movie about wine. I am glad to see they live up to the hype. Geat show GV you must have had a great weekend, because you brought the thunder today.

  • jaybloxham

That's a great guess, but I think it's Mark Sanchez

  • Hah! My favorite baseball team is my fantasy team: The Toucans of Whoopass! 🙂

  • slave2thevine

QOTD: I don't follow Baseball. Never have…so I guess I would have to say the “home team” the Portland Sea Dogs.

  • amsgpwarrior

I just have to say ThaNk YoU! For doing a show I'm excited to watch these days even though its a short show in comparison to others (at least there are no commercials). With so much crap these days on t.v. your show seems to be a vacation from all the BS the rest of the world puts out there.
Loved this episode and hope to try all three wines since the last couple of episodes didn't impress me (wine wise I mean).

QOTD: Favorite team is the Chicago White Sox which is treason from where I am from in Dallas, TX. But our team (Texas Rangers) sux hardcore bc we have the worst owner ever, and only gives a sh** about his new Premier league soccer acquisition. But my fondest memories of baseball are from 1991 when Kirby Puckett led the Twins from the worst team one year to winning the World Series the next in magical fashion. ALSO the greatest single moment was when I watched my hero Nolan Ryan beat the sh** out of that prick Robin Ventura.

  • gretchen

the new york yankees are CLASSIC, but the boston red sox are so dear to my heart.

  • mattgmann

I don't know how people can live with rooting for the Yankees. That's like rooting for the 5th grade bully to beat up the kid in the wheelchair and take his lunch money. Their payroll is well north of $200,000,000. I put all the zeros in to show how ridiculous it is. The Rays payroll is ~$35mil and they play in the same league. Bullshit. If the yankees don't win the world series every year, they suck. Just like the Mets, Cubs, Phillies and every other team that just throws money at players instead of working a farm system.

  • mattgmann

BTW, The DH is everything that's wrong with Amercia. NL for life.

  • drt999

QOTD — grew up with WPIX coverage of the Yankees on cable from 1967 on, although my baseball interest peaked in 1978

  • jaybloxham

I have no problem beating on 5th graders!

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    Yo Lawrence, It's a TUUUUUUUUUUUUUFFFFF LIFE !!!!!!! ;O)

  • cellarrat5

I don't understand how you can think the Yankees are classic and still have Boston near your hear. That would be like carpooling with Bielzabob and God.

  • Great to see some wines rocking again. I was getting a little depressed myself after last week.

QOTD: Not a huge baseball fan, but being from Philly, you know I jumped right on that Phillies bandwagon 2 years ago.

  • cellarrat5

There are not enough like buttons on any blogs or facebook pages combined that could describe my feelings for this comment.

  • cellarrat5

AWWWWWWW wayno! Say it ain't so, the dodgers!?? OH well, nobody's perfect, not even wayynoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 😉

  • JiminAtlanta

Good show and good wines. QOTD – I am currently a Braves fan, but not really that much into baseball these days. I have been a fan of the Brewers and Cubs when I lived in other cities. I prefer football these days.

  • cellarrat5

Nice show, glad you are back on Olympus raining down thunder on all video blogdom. Most Justin I have tried has been fairly good. Too bad this one did not melt face like the Pino. Classic descriptions this ep, keep up the crushing.

QOTD: Thank you! A sports QOTD I can actually answer! SF Giants, no question. Best sports moment for me was the 8th game in the 04 season, Bonds passes Willy Maze with 661 career Home runs. Say what you want about the man, add as many ********** as you want, watching him his was a blast.

  • zrm

Awesome one gary! Re bringing the thunder! Calling out K-Murph, giving a thx out to all of us in the V-nation, some mott action. Looking forward to seeing what that cindy pack brings

QOD: I am a Detroit Tigers fan.

  • zrm

Fantasy does take a serious amount of precedence over all other teams

  • Hi Gary,

Super show man – Looks like you've got your mojo back – last week you didnt look 100% focussed.
That Chardonnay looked very cloudy – In fact I actually thought the bottle was chilled. Keep up the great work, you're such an inspiration.

qotd – Not much into baseball over here in AUS – but we are starting to get a bit of live coverage which is good.

  • scottEJ

Thanks, G. Nice content and solid wines. I'll be in Cali w/the Mrs. for the next few days up in the Russian River Valley. God help my liver.

QOTD: A lifer Cub fan. To name a favorite season is tough, but, probably one of my biggest dissapointments was 84. We had 'em, then we lost 'em. BTW – Least favorite team – White Sucks.

  • TooYoungToDrink

QOTD– Lets go Yankees!!! here comes a repeat!

  • ChrisNY2

    The Yankees

  • DCaragher

GV – “BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!” Good show, per usual, but I have some rockin' ideas…red Sancerre and rose Bandols! RIP IT!

    QOTD: Red sox…

    READ CORK'D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kmurph

that 89 is for the Justin Reserve which is only available at the winery (and about 2x the price of the regular that GV tasted)

  • dsallen

“It's got BADOW!” So does this episode!

Thanks for wearing my favorite purple shirt, Gary!

    QOTD: I should be a Rangers fan, but I don't really care…

OH, and this weekend I found out that a close friend of the family is a Master of Wine!!!

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    Yo cellarrat, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZ ZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP ??!!!!!!!!!!??
Hey, I'm a Southern Californian, what Ya expect ??? Used to be a Padres Fan, but
