    AMAZING show.
i love chesse but i don´t really love the combo cheese and wine. i love wine, i love cheese but i just like the combo.

QOTD: i´m into blue cheese. Bleu des Basques Brebis and Rogue River Blue are just the best.

  • mw

Great show, can't wait to try the White X -sounds very intriguing!

QOTD: I don't like cheese, I wish I did but I don't. Yes I have tried different kinds and want to learn to like it, but it keeps being awful. Except fresh mozarella/bocconcini and haloumi, which to me are barely related to hard stinky stuff that overloads your mouth with some kind of…musty dairy flavour. But, I do appreciate shows like this that show a variety of flavours and palettes, whether its cheese or wine.

  • DmitriEn

I'd sure like to see more wine/cheese shows. Great job!

QOTD: Soft – brie. Hard – Grana padana.

  • Capt_M

Great show, guys! Gary, you're a great brother-in-law. Cool wines. QOTD: I love hard cheeses, like Pecorino and Grana.

  • I love ALL cheese…some I eat the most often would be soft goat cheese, manchego, asiago, gouda, gorgonzola….I make a baked pasta dish with a blend of gruyere and brie….now I am hungry!

QOTD: In French chesse, my favorite is Abbaye de Belloc, a raw sheep cheese made by Benedictine monks. In Italian cheese, Boschetto which is a sheep and cow's milk blend with white truffles mixed throughout. I think I'm happiest when I'm eating either of these with the right wine.

  • Good show, just wish the Beard made an appearance.

QOTD: My go to cheese is Petite Basque, but I know I tried a triple cream goat from GA when in Atlanta that was fantastic.

  • Ozzy

Great show. Love the episode's when you are pairing wines and cheese.

  • Mike

Awesome show! I wish I could just live off of wine, cheese, and a loaf of bread.
A few of my favorite cheeses include:

    Petite Basque
    Mt. Tam
    Anything made by Cypress Grove
    Rogue River Blue
    Beechers Flagship
    1 yr aged Manchengo

  • beardedmystery

Great show. I wish I had some cheese right now.
My favorites are Parrano and the XO beemaster. I love the crystals in the cheese and their a hard cheese but get real creamy when you let it melt in your mouth.

G.K Chersterton wrote the following ode to Stilton Blue Cheese (a play on Wordsworth's sonnet to Milton), thereafter my favorite:

Stilton, thou shouldst be living at this hour
    And so thou art. Nor losest grace thereby;
England has need of thee, and so have I–
She is a Fen. Far as the eye can scour,
League after grassy league from Lincoln tower
To Stilton in the fields, she is a Fen.
Yet this high cheese, by choice of fenland men,
Like a tall green volcano rose in power.
Plain living and long drinking are no more,
And pure religion reading “Household Words”,
And sturdy manhood sitting still all day
    Shrink, like this cheese that crumbles to its core;
While my digestion, like the House of Lords,
The heaviest burdens on herself doth lay.

  • Jay

Love the Beehive cheeses (yes, I'm a homer….), especially the Barely Buzzed and Full Moon.

  • DAveAll

I LOL'd over the warm wine “thanks for watching” comment. That was fun. snicker.

love pairings, you should get a CHEF in and do real food, too. Balance it with cheese pairings where you are selling it.

QOTD: Cowgirl Creamery wow. ride 'em cowboy!

  • bobbytiger

If it's a cheese, we eat it.
Currently enjoying the Yodeling Goat Gouda, the aged Gruyere Special Reserve, (cows milk), and the Fulvi Pecorino Romano (from the Countriside of Rome), Sheep's milk.
    All good stuff.
Paired with Chardonnay, Torrantes, or some white/red Meritages.
Love cheese, and liked today's show.
    Keep em coming.

  • Great show! You're b-in-law seems like a great guy. Very interested in the Le Fleuret now. Normally I shop cheeses by type as I am nowhere near knowing the difference between a cheddars or soft cheese from here or there or made by this producer, etc. Agree as well on the Neyers Merlot. MUCH too fake fruit.

QOTD: Marks & Spencers Stilton (London chain)

  • Hi Gary, Looking at Gourmet Library videos page, .. I think you should consider getting some free samples out to a random consumers and viewers and encourage them to create review video responses. I really like the options there for reviews & video responses. Personally I would like to see more opinions. Maybe you could reward video responses and reviews in some way. I was thinking a credit system where members earn credits when they purchase, review, post video etc.. they can then exchange the credits for free product samples, discounts off purchases, secret sales, special deals etc.. also i would encourage people to post videos replys on their own social media channels and have them embedded in some way. i just think this would be more viral and gives people a chance to develop there own personal brands. Great Show BTW.

It looks like a cool link. Don’t be a hater of foreign stuff MattG. Us winos need all the help we can get.

  • Phil G

GV, you're like a cheese fiend – slow down a little! Too bad the last two wines threw the show off… and Gary being way distracted by the cheese…

QOTD – Saankanter is good stuff, though probably better with beer.

  • Anonymous

Ain’t got time to take a fast train. Lonely days are gone….. I’m a coming home,,,,,,my baby, she wrote me a letter………

  • Allan

I dunno, but i think it’s gettin PUMPED UP by the press. And probably 35% of it will end up in asia…. The chinese have got enormous buying power at the moment.

Bordeaux needs to sell this time around, otherwise BOOOOM!

Only time will tell if 09 is overated………..

  • D_Rod

    Nice episode guys.

QOTD: I love the Tomme Crayeuse you guys stock. Just delicious. My next favorite (and this episode inspired me to break some out) is probably Italian Pecorino. They're very different preferences, but I like each for their own reasons.

    Keep rockin' it.

  • FullOnNelson

Glorious glorious cheese!!! I remember my days working behind the cheese counter in Whole Foods so well.

QOTD: One favorite is not enough. Here is my list Justin in no particular order:

    1. MouCo Cheese Company's ColoRouge
    2. Any from Neal's Yard (especially their Wensleydale)
    3. Piave
    4. Cocoa Cardona (Carr Valley or Cowgirl Creamery)

  • I'm a sucker for mixed-milk cheeses — faves are La Tur from Piemonte, Italy and Campo de Montalban from La Mancha, Spain. You probably carry these, Justin, but I just had to give them a shout out since they're so delish!

Too bad the Southern Right was corked; I've had a past vintage ('07 or '08, can't remember) and it was excellent, especially for the price point. And they donate a portion of their proceeds to whale conservation.

    Fun show! 🙂

  • Hey Guys

Great show, HOW GOOD IS CHEESE!!!!!!! It's certainly up there with coffee and wine as my favourite things.

QOTD: Hong Kong were I live is a pertty good spot to buy cheese. There's a good international selection here of cheese from different countries. Storage however isn't a high priority in most places. What am I enjoying? Recently I've tried a few different Spainish cheese (mainly sheeps milk) and have really enjoeyd them.

    Cheers
    Andrew

  • Several Vayniaks mentioned Mt Tam by Cowgirl Creamery and also Manchego, so today at lunch I perused the cheese section of my local grocery store and bought Manchego aged 6 months.. I shared it with my co-workers who also said that 1-yr aged manchego was better. Mt Tam was $17 Holy moly. Will try it next time. 🙂

Sorry for spoiling it for ya!

  • Allan

    The Goat-monster is BAAAAACKKK!!! ; )

Why no new Ep? Is Gary the guy who invented Slackin??? ; )

  • Allan

I'm with ya on this castello, that was a bit weird. They should have seeked out another sample from da shop, and give the wine some justice.
