92/100

Line of the day – ‘I could literally sit here and sniffy sniff this wine all night long.

I really enjoyed this episode as GV got a little serious as well as exploding with his normal enthusiasm.

  • John__J

  • Puligny-Montrachet? Wow. No taste-along today… But can’t wait to actually be able to watch this!

I vote for the longer shows Gary. Jay can suck it up and fast forward ๐Ÿ™‚ no offense Jay, I hope. Just saying for me, but I respect you liking the shorter ones.

My parents anniversary was yesterday. 46 years. long time. very long time.
QOTD: Wow, took a long time to get to the official question. I gots all confused for a little bit and didnt know where you were going with it.
Italian red wine. I have never really loved it enough to go out and buy it. But had a great on one Sunday night and I was surprised by it. Caught me off guard a little. I was prepared to hate it. Not so.

Gary I posted this on the Greco episode also but, why don’t you use the Jets bucket to show the color of the wine. It’s white and would show off the colors really well no? It’s even the right height I think, maybe not for the big ass glass but at least for the white chick butt glass?

Oh….1000 is coming up fast Homey!!!!! I wanna be there!!!!! Jus so ya know!!!!!!!

How do you have that much time on your hands to watch it. A few months ago every show was 30+ minutes. That’s 2 1/2 hours a week of watching GV! Would he spend that much time watching me? I think not. He would probably give me at most 12 minutes.

Drank a 1966 Henri Bouvret Chรขteau-Chalon recently that made me want to get more serious about the wines from Jura. Should be fun to explore.

  • Nick

YEAAA BABY PULIGNY MONTRACHET. Love it! Will love this ep regardless how u score the wines

  • Anonymous

why watch if the information/perspective given is just an inch deep? much prefer the shows that get in depth with a region/grape/style/producer.

  • Anonymous

Fine I’m wrong. I can live with that.
But what’s your cut off before you have to bail on a show? Do you not have a cut off where you have to get back to work or get back to anything else.. Would you keep watching a 3 part episode that 95 minutes total? All in one sitting?

Really liked this show format. The final wine certainly brought it in but this wine is one of the wines that turned me off to older white burgundies as I had several bottles undergo premature oxidation or premox. On the other hand, the 2007 Puligny Montrachets have been wonderful. I’ve had no 2008 yet. Italian wines have been my big comeback this year. I have had more and different varieties of Italian wines than ever before and have made Italy a big buy for me. That being said, I have had a big turnoff to Spain as I am tasting more California style wines from Spain and don’t like those.

If the topic interests me, absolutely. It seems like we watch the show for completely different reasons, which is cool.

  • Nick

where’s the ‘do not like’ button when you need it..

  • Jay

This show + drinking Silver Oaks on Christmas night with family made me want to develop/get to know my wine pallet

  • Keep passing them to Mott(if he wants) the convo. back and forth between you two comparing them is always interesting and fun to watch.

  • ALLAN

When you gonna guest the show again ? That was one of personal favourites…

  • ALLAN

C’mon we all watch for different reasons don’t we ?

All we know, is GV will continue to MIX IT UP for us.

LOVE the burg!!!! where’s the batard? i call this a baby baller show. so close……….

  • John__J

Oh wow I’m jealous. How was it?
I’ve been building up a collection of Chateau-Chalon’s myself, but nothing that old.
I love the wines out of Jura, they also specialize in vin de paille out there.
One of my wine distributuor’s just emailed me an article about a recent auction where a guy bought a Chateau-Chalon from the 1700’s for over 57,000 euro’s and that he plans to drink it.
I’ve heard those suckers will age over 200 years.

I would love to ….. I lost over 20 pounds I feel good. I cut all my hair…I think it would be great to do that and see the before and after. Gary fixed me up with the Fresh Diet he was on and now he really should have me back on the show to tell the story of how I saw the bag of food and he handed me his menu with the number on it and now I’m feeling good thanks to him.

Write him!!!! Tell him…We want Winecrazy!!!!!

  • John__J

Great episode and an ironic one for me.
qotd: real similar to you Gary. I had an old Hillside Select yesterday that kind of made me think the same thing. I’ve been going after the most oddball wines I could find for the past couple years, and barely ever buying things like Napa cab’s and white Burgundies and things like that. So I made a mental note last night to definitely devote more of my wine drinking this year to those wines again.
Which is great because since I’ve stayed away from them for so long they almost seem new and fresh to me again.

QOTD: I bought a new Martin D-28 guitar, it has inspired me to practice like I used to and the riffs & chords are coming back. It’s a side of myself that I set aside when my daughter was born which has come back to give me hours of enjoyment.

  • Neil McNamara

    RIP Patty Bogle.

  • ALLAN

    Great

  • For $90 I’ll buy growlers of craft beer, bottles of Fox Barrel Cider, fine cheeses and throw a party. Enjoy your Burgundy.

QOTD: Recently did some illustrations for a children’s book and realized I shouldn’t define myself so much as a particular artist and do whatever drives my creative process.

  • ALLAN

    LOL…… the horror, the horror… ;P

  • Interesting to me that you ended with a PT/Massage story. I too used to enjoy the regular massage; hard to find a good one that didn’t break the bank. Before the show I was saying to myself that you always look fit. Do you play a sport or have an exercise routine? Good show!
    Smell it first. TR

Oh, white Burgundy. This episode reminded me why I love and hate them.

The best white Burgundies are creamy, fruity, mineral, and bright – everything that is great about wine. But they are also very expensive, and often underwhelming. I taste wines all the time, and I am always on the lookout for a great White Burgundy. It maybe only happens once a year. But when it does, it reminds me why I love wine so much. A great White Burgundy is the best wine in the world.

QOTD – My last visit to Sonoma reminded me why I love Zinfandel, and I have been drinking more of it since then.
Last Thanksgiving was a 4-hour marathon meal with a dozen friends, which inspired me to cook a 12-course meal…that hasn’t happened yet, it is more of a long-term goal. Consider that a food & life inspiration

  • ALLAN

    Good for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

That could make up an inspiring show!!

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

Really solid episode, Gary! Loved the interaction with Mott today. Your snicker at how good the Pernit was reminded me of the same reaction you made at the 05 Cos D’Estrounel in a while back. Can’t remember the episode. I knew, like Strasburg, the high 90’s were coming.

QOTD: I’ll have to think about this one and come back to it, but I’m going to lean with a high-end white Burgundy that I had while in Vegas. As well as an 01 Opus One.

qotd: 75 dom p blew my mind the other night. need to fall off the aged (vintaged) champagne wagon again!!!!

  • ALLAN

Can I join in on your awesome party-time-excellent ? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Had a 1985 white burgundy at Berns a few months ago, really woke me up to how well a white burgundy can age.
