2004 Can Blau Montsant

Today Gary Vaynerchuk starts tasting from the 6pack we sold earlier last week. Watch as Gary goes through this wonderful Monstant the Can Blau Montsant 2004. A 90 point wine from Robert Parker the Monstant is loaded with cherry fruit flavors, but lets see what Gary Vaynerchuk thinks.

    Gary,

Is WL still offering the 6pack and can customers purchase it at the store? Or is it an internet special only?

Nice Spanish bargain which I also tried this week (without the sixpack). This is basically a Spanish Cotes du Rhone-type blend–but a good one. Like many Cotes du Rhone, given about 15 minutes in the glass, and lots of swirling, the wine will evolve as the Syrah comes forward. Decanting would bring this about much more quickly.

    Gary,
I really like what you are doing with the tv. I mostly agree with your evaluations; you were right on about this wine. We did it somewhat differently. After waiting all day for this guy to mellow we tasted it against another Monsant wine that I had; a 2003 Mas Donis. (9.99 at a local wine store) The Mas Donis was great right out of the bottle. For my money, the Mas Donis was much better. Thanks for blazing the wine tv trail and keep up the good work.

About a third of all my wine selections lately have been Spanish reds. There are some real high quality wines coming from that part of the world and the pricing of these wines is even more attractive. The Can Blau is now on my shopping list. I missed out on the first tasting. I hope you do another one soon.

Why did the six pack tasting thing die? Very cool. I’m ordering the ‘05 hoping that the vintage won’t mess up the experience too much.

I really wish that I would have found this site earlier. This is exactly the kind of tasting that I would love to do.
