great episode Gary, love to see you answering viewers requests/comments.
I have a request. Would be a joy to see you do a charbono tasting, and especially nice to see yo do a vin jaune tasting/episode.

haha, Snakes on a Plane. I saw it in France dubbed into French. I did feel a bit disappointed when “the line” came and went and was in French. However, I was treated to it at the end of the movie (right before the music video during the credits).

Qotd: Answering would be cheating now, but my wife and I saw it on openning weekend and thought it was hilarious. We actually had a really great time at it because we didn’t take it serious. Good episode!

    Brandon M:
Your comments regarding fast growing collection in fridge plus cabinets suggest you need a storage unit as much as space and wallet afford. Others may disagree, but such units are usually not well suited for garages, especially over the long haul.
    Gary,
Boohhl yaahhh (great job)! Loved the tasting suprise at the end. This raises a question to you: What was the single best wine you have tasted that was made significantly better from being open a day or more? If you answer this question please be sure to tell us what the changes were that contributed to the improvement. Thanks, CK

SOP – I know most everyone is coming in between 25 and 45 million, but if it makes more than 20 bucks it’s a disgrace, not to mention prove that we are all gullable idiots that will spend our $ on anything that we are told to. It’s insane that they make millions on crap and I make pocket change working with Special Ed children.

    Gary -

I hear that Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson are already signed to do the sequel to Snakes on a Plane. The working title is Snakes on a Money Train.

    Keep Rocking!

    Gary,

I was in Greece earlier this summer, specifically Santorini, and tasted some very good wine. This was not my first trip to the country and have noticed the quality of the local wine is improving every time I visit. I have started noticing more Greek wines (outside of Boutari) on the store shelves recently. What is your opinion of Greek wines and assytiko, nykteri, mandilaria or vinsanto varieties? Hey, that is a great idea for an episode of Wine Library TV.

What does “Snakes on a Plane” have to do with wine?

    Gary,

Glad to see you finally got a port wine to taste on WLTV. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Hello Gary. I just “stumbled” upon WineLibaryTV over the weekend, and I’ve been watching show after show. Thanks for providing such a valuable tool. Am I really at the nascent stage of appreciating different varietals, and I can see you will be really helpful in ramping up my learning curve.

Like going to the dentist? Hmmmm…stop by my office where we have scented candles burning to mask all the “smells.” I don’t know if I really want to drink wine that reminds me of nitrous oxide. Maybe we should just breathe in deep. Great episode and thanks for all the info. Any recommendations where I can purchase a good wine tasting kit so I can appreciate all your comments?

Why would anybody care for such a dumb movie? The bigger issue is how many games the Jets will win? I say that is a bigger concern. My guess is a 6-10 season.

Can you review the Pian Cornello Brunello 2001?

    Gary,

Looks like my original estimate of $18mm for Snakes on Plane was actually too aggressive! Who knew that it would top off at $15mm? My instinct were telling me this all along but even I started to believe the hype. This is huge failure for this movie despite winning the weekend.

Goes to show you that viral video, media hype and the hard core audience is simply not enough. At the end of the day you still have to have a good product and that is where this experiment failed. It is the movie that everybody wants to talk but how many people are going to pay up at the theater. Should break even domestically or push past its $30mm budget and do well in aftermarket on DVD.

WLTV is way better than SOAP because it is free, entertaining AND QUALITY content. :-)

I have a similar question as Isg (#66). Like Gary, I like to bring my own wines to a restuarant. Even with a $10-15 corking fee, it’s a bargain and I get to drink what I like.

But I live by decanting. What’s the point in drinking a wine that hasn’t breathed? So I’ve been decanting the wines a couple of hours before we leave for the restuarant and then pouring them back into the bottle and recorking right before we go.

Your thoughts on this, Gary? Is this good, bad?

P.S. I’m eagerly awaiting tomorrow’s episode on the effects of heat on wine. Should be a great one! (You didn’t really think I’d let you get away without mentioning that, did you?)

    Hey Gary,
Wanted to know your thoughts South African wines?
2005 Nitida Sauvignon Blanc, Durbanville, SA.
    2004 Warwick, Pinotage, Stellenbosch, SA.
I really enjoyed these but found it a bit difficult to find others.
I was very excited about this Pinotage as well,
fruit forward with a smokey finish.
    thanks

    Hey Gary!!!

WHat happened to the “Jets to go all the way” post on the Mark Squires’ BBS? Did Mark delete it saying that it was too commercial?

Do we get free shipping tomorrow?

Can we get free shipping if we ask you to hold the wine until October (since I am in Houston. And the Texans have their best team ever. Though that doesn’t say much)

If you plan on staying in your current house it may be worth building your own cellar. I built mine myself two years ago for about $4000, it has a Whisper Cool 3000 – so the temp stays at 58 Degrees. The room is 6 by 15 and will hold about 800 bottles. The book I used to build it is called “How to Build a Wine Cellar.” You can find it used oneline. I currently have about 120 bottles down from 200. We had a baby last year my budget was reduced, so I’ve been drinking more than putting in. Good Luck
