qotd: mostly in the computer room probably.
Gary, would love to catch you doing a vin jaune episode, or seeing you tackle a charbono tasting one.

Just now going back and watching past episodes. Plan on watching them all eventually! Where do I drink wine? Everywhere I can. Favorite is any porch, anywhere, any time!

I just had the 2002 Sequoia Grove Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon in their tasting room on Saterday and thought it was fantastic. I just rewatched this episode and …87 points?!?!?
I though it was much better than some of the other stuff which I’ve tasted that you’ve given 90+ pts scores. This one really confused me.

Gary, I have had the luxury of drinking the Garretson wine a couple of times. Im a server in a fine dining establishment in Augusta, GA. And the Garretson piqued my interest because I’m a huge Georgia Bulldog fan and a fan of “new world 3.0″ wines. The way I described the wine was an explosion of fruit and it lasts 10 min. after drinking it! I’m glad you felt the same way about the wine and I think I’ll have to pick up another bottle after watching this. And by the way, I usually drink wine while at the computer after work.

QOD: Most of the time, our wine is consumed around the dinner table. Often after dinner, we ened up finishing a bottle in the family room. Certainly, we always have a bottle or two when we go out to eat at a fine dining establishment.

Like Jaye, I drink wine whenever and wherever available and possible. Mostly at home, a fair amount at weekly local tastings, sometimes in restaurants.

    Gary,

If the Caro is indeed of the Lafite-Rothchilds then it shouldn’t state Baron Phillipe or Phillipine. It would like say Baron Eric Rothschild. If it says Baron Phillip or Baroness Phillipine then it’s the Mouton-Rothchilds. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Very nicely done again. I felt kind of relieved when I saw you rate the Caro in that manner, in the sense that that’s what I feel, lately, when I try an argentinian wine. Not in the past, but it’s happened to me several times in a row while trying argentinian wines. Not bad wines, but I can clearly sense the alcohol (heat) in them, and my only educated guess is that they’re meant to be saved for a while, rather than drunk right away. I look forward to trying the Garretson and the Oberto Barbera. Again, nicely done, and thanks for the cupon.

QOD Episode 134 – whenever and wherever possible! :)

Oh, and thanks for the wine bag coupon — now I can make my holiday gifts extra special!!

QOD: First in the kitchen while I help prepare dinner. Then in front of my computer entering my tasting notes into CellarTracker. After that at the dinner table or sofa with friends and family.

Is 265 the amount of days since WineLibrary first aired on February 21, 2006?

Yet another Lurker spooked out of the cyber brush. I must say what a pleasure your programs are. Perfect for the seasoned drinker and newby alike. One comment about the Garreston Bulladoir: I find it completely undrinkable. I’ve had all of their wines (I’m a recovering Paso Robles, Ca. fan) and have learned to steer clear of them. Purple paint with sugar is the perfect description. 16% alc.?Ugh.

Good question of the day. I begin my evening by changing into comfy clothes, i.e. boxer shorts and then pouring one of your recommendations. Yesterday it was “The Other” (love the label) and since I received my “Da Bears Sux” alottment I will be testing the Don Nicanor tonight. And where do I drink these wines praytell? Well, the first glass is in front of the computer watching your show and thereafter, in the kitchen preparing and then having dinner.

On special occasions such as Sunday night watching the Colts stampede the Eagles, I was downstairs in front of the big TV.

Go Colts and congrats to the Jets.

    Cheers!

P.S. Tiki should retire after throwing his coach under the bus!

Been a while – life getting in the way. Great episode – haven’t seen GV’s face scrunch up like it did with the Bulladoir in a while. Will definitely be looking to pick up some of the Barbera D’Alba and perhaps teh Bulladoir if I want a new experience.

QOD – By far, most wine drunk at home – around the dining table or in the living room or on the deck – followed by restaurants, then friends houses. I tend to not drink wine at bars where I might be meeting folks because the usual selections are bad.

Nice job Jets, Can’t believe the Giants!

Hi! I drink most of my wine at BYO restaurants…or the South City Grill bar in Mountain Lakes, NJ…the selection is not bad.

    Gary –

Do you think you might upset Baron Eric de Rothschild by by saying that his Chateau Lafite is owned by the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Mouton Rothschild fame?

And I will again ask a question that went unanswered on a previous episode. How do you measure a wine’s viscosity with your nose?

As for the QOTD, anywhere I care to (as long as it’s not illeagal).

How I miss those “Jersey Bring Your Own” restaurants!! Most states have you at the mercy of price gouging restaurants hence I drink better wines at home meals.

QOD – we drink ours in the kitchen preparing dinner or in the family room with cheese and other goodies. And we drink it out at restaurants. We actually prefer a BYOW so we can sample the bottles we purchased at the WL. Half bottles are fun to take along as well for variety.

Brandon!!! You’re back!!! It’s not the same without you!

    QueSeraSyrah…you’re a Dukie? Ever eat at the Sanford Deli (1998 – 2003)?!

I concur KAHUNA, great answer to the QOD. How did you get the inside scoop on 265? Any truth to this?

I forgot to mention in my last post… being a Dukie, I can’t support Garretson with his Tar Hill Cuvee and all. I’m sure they are great wines, but I would literally have to swallow my pride if I was to drink his wine.

Re: 2002 Sequoia Grove Cab reserve – The 2000 vintage on Seqouia Grove Cab reserve was very good. The 2001 vintage was truly outstandng. After finishing our last bottles of the 2001 and 2000, we bought several bottles of the 2002 reserve and were horribly disappointed in it. It was bitter and lacked the smoothness and strong flavors of the 2001, and to a lesser extent, 2000 vintages. Vintage matters. For the SG Cab reserve, 2002 is to be avoided. If you can get the 2001, you will be amazed at the difference.

QOTD= The most common place I consume wine would be in my kitchen followed by the kitchen table during dinner.
