QOD – Except for the occasional dinner out, I always drink wine in my kitchen. Always with dinner, and on weekends, an additional glass or two while cooking dinner.

Hey, Gary! I’ve been missing WLTV…thanks for another great episode.

QOD: Great question! Just this past week I enjoyed wine in many different settings…on my bed, on the phone, at the table, in the kitchen, next to my computer, while in the bath…was planning to enjoy a bottle wrapped in a paper bag while taking a nature walk with a friend (it’s really fun when you have the right attitude…and, of course only with someone you’re willing to swap spit!)…Also, I drink wine at work (…and get paid for it!!). (I love my job!)

I know I’ve been a viewing slacker lately, but I can’t help notice the screaming ommission of comments from Brandon M, Itallion Stallion, and Jason Hicks. Is everyone okay?! Have I missed something?!

Thanks, KAHUNA. I’m so addicted to WLTV…”The Forum” scares me to death. I haven’t even signed up out of fear that I would never get anything done again in my natural life! I am missing those guys, though, so I guess I should get my act together…

    Thanks, man!! : )

I drink my wine in front of the couch, with my macbook pro in my lap and a glass on my tile table I made when I was in high school. I lean back and watch the latest podcasts and check email..

    Nice show
QOD Almost always in the kitchen while cooking and eating. Were I enjoy wine the most is relaxing outside on the back porch on a cool evening.
GV had some Twenty Bench over Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. Would like to see it in an eppisode

Occasionally I’ll have wine when I’m at a restaurant, but when I am at home, I almost exclusively enjoy my wine in bed. Every single night I go through this ritual of putting on my nightie, getting my Riedel glass, getting my wine of the night, and climbing into my bed to surf on the ‘Net or read a book. In fact, I’m really very very surprised that more people don’t do this–it’s sooo relaxing! And if you get tired, or drunk, then all you have to do is lie yourself right down…

  • hi Gary, I am a recent addict to WLTV, thanks for taking the time to do this very valuable v-blog!

QOTD: wherever there is GREAT people with whom to share the wine! Usually this is around dinner or some sort of snack in my apartment living room; but when thinking about your question, wine is best in a place where you can share it and celebrate it!

Cheers to you, Gary and all WLTV community!

Re: 2002 Sequoia Grove Cab reserve – The 2000 vintage on Seqouia Grove Cab reserve was very good. The 2001 vintage was truly outstandng. After finishing our last bottles of the 2001 and 2000, we bought several bottles of the 2002 reserve and were horribly disappointed in it. It was bitter and lacked the smoothness and strong flavors of the 2001, and to a lesser extent, 2000 vintages. Vintage matters. For the SG Cab reserve, 2002 is to be avoided. If you can get the 2001, you will be amazed at the difference.

I concur KAHUNA, great answer to the QOD. How did you get the inside scoop on 265? Any truth to this?

I forgot to mention in my last post… being a Dukie, I can’t support Garretson with his Tar Hill Cuvee and all. I’m sure they are great wines, but I would literally have to swallow my pride if I was to drink his wine.

Brandon!!! You’re back!!! It’s not the same without you!

    QueSeraSyrah…you’re a Dukie? Ever eat at the Sanford Deli (1998 – 2003)?!

QOD – we drink ours in the kitchen preparing dinner or in the family room with cheese and other goodies. And we drink it out at restaurants. We actually prefer a BYOW so we can sample the bottles we purchased at the WL. Half bottles are fun to take along as well for variety.

How I miss those “Jersey Bring Your Own” restaurants!! Most states have you at the mercy of price gouging restaurants hence I drink better wines at home meals.

    Gary –

Do you think you might upset Baron Eric de Rothschild by by saying that his Chateau Lafite is owned by the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Mouton Rothschild fame?

And I will again ask a question that went unanswered on a previous episode. How do you measure a wine’s viscosity with your nose?

As for the QOTD, anywhere I care to (as long as it’s not illeagal).

Hi! I drink most of my wine at BYO restaurants…or the South City Grill bar in Mountain Lakes, NJ…the selection is not bad.

Been a while – life getting in the way. Great episode – haven’t seen GV’s face scrunch up like it did with the Bulladoir in a while. Will definitely be looking to pick up some of the Barbera D’Alba and perhaps teh Bulladoir if I want a new experience.

QOD – By far, most wine drunk at home – around the dining table or in the living room or on the deck – followed by restaurants, then friends houses. I tend to not drink wine at bars where I might be meeting folks because the usual selections are bad.

Nice job Jets, Can’t believe the Giants!

Good question of the day. I begin my evening by changing into comfy clothes, i.e. boxer shorts and then pouring one of your recommendations. Yesterday it was “The Other” (love the label) and since I received my “Da Bears Sux” alottment I will be testing the Don Nicanor tonight. And where do I drink these wines praytell? Well, the first glass is in front of the computer watching your show and thereafter, in the kitchen preparing and then having dinner.

On special occasions such as Sunday night watching the Colts stampede the Eagles, I was downstairs in front of the big TV.

Go Colts and congrats to the Jets.

    Cheers!

P.S. Tiki should retire after throwing his coach under the bus!

Yet another Lurker spooked out of the cyber brush. I must say what a pleasure your programs are. Perfect for the seasoned drinker and newby alike. One comment about the Garreston Bulladoir: I find it completely undrinkable. I’ve had all of their wines (I’m a recovering Paso Robles, Ca. fan) and have learned to steer clear of them. Purple paint with sugar is the perfect description. 16% alc.?Ugh.
