WOOT! Today in a very special episode Gary tells you about WOOT and what WOOT meant to WLTV. Gary then tastes a wine that is only available at the WOOT site. Sit back and enjoy and see what Web 2.0 is all about.

  • John J.
qotd would be you Gary, i'm spending the most time here right now compared to the rest.
Would like to request a vin jaune episode Gary, or see ya tackle a charbono tasting one
  • This one makes sence "One's first step in wisdom is to kuesstion everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything."
  • gary - if you like woot!, you'll also like winestilsoldout.com same concept, cheaper prices.
  • Jeff, you are right.
WLTV is a great site which I come to regularly however a comments section and a forum don't make a site Web 2.0.

One of my favourite Web 2.0 sites has the definition of "Web 2.0": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0
  • Great energy and good review of a wine you don't have. Just wondering where one gets a NY Jets spit bucket?
  • Steve
    WEB 2.0???
    www.willitblend.com
    Hillarious!!!

    Will it blend?
    That is the question!
  • careyd
    Hey gordoyflaca,
The Wine Spectator videos generall have substantially higher production value than WLTV. Not saying I don't love Gary, I do, and I watch every day and submit an intro when I can... However, without altering the format, WLTV would benefit tremendously from some basic 3-point soft lighting and better audio. Better audio could be achieved by either using lav mics or flying a shotgun over Gary just out of frame. Would make a *HUGE* difference. Oh, some sound dampening material in the room would help too.
  • What makes your website 2.0.... I don't think you have any elements that would qualify you.
  • Steve B
The Monkey Prize is now available at wine.woot.com
  • JR Laz
Great job once again, 'chuck. Gary - I NEED to know, where can I find some WET raisins??!!
  • Vinacull
Pale rider of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly asks of Gary: What ever happened to the avatars? Interesting and fun episode Gary. WOOOOOT there it is. QOTD: WLTV of course. But the Human Clock site is on your heels. Cheers, CKatalyst
  • MarcT
great show again. I'm glad you guys got the camera working. The picture and sound kick ass now.
  • Rich S
    Hey GV,

I have been a wine.woot fan since its inception. I have bought around 7-8 different offerings from woot. Some of them have been absolute gems and some have been clunkers. I will give the monkey a try when it is offered next Monday.

WLTV is still my favorite though............ :o)
  • AlisonD
WLTV is my favorite, of course!
  • Rebecca
I've been lurking for a while - or just working too much - my first comment in probably several weeks SORRY. Anyway, loved your energy on the show today. This is the Gary that turned us all into VANIACS!!! QOD: #1 WLTV!!! #2 IDEAS IN FOOD...

Just because I don't post doesn't mean I don't love this site and I try to visit at least every two days to catch up.....

BTW, what's the daily countdown on your dry-erase board? I've noticed several comments about it and a lot of us are curious. Besides Jets pre-season, what could be happening in mid-August?
  • I'm not very computer-literate (I hate these things) so I don't know what a Web 2.0 website is as opposed to a regular old website. So, I guess I'll vote for you. Or the Fat Wreck records website.

Yours is the only one I visit daily, so I guess that counts for something. Well, I don't visit if I'm out of town because I don't bring a computer along with me while travelling and I will never, ever bother to use a computer in a hotel lobby--unless I'm lost or something.

OK...Jets better beat the Pack, see you later,
    GO BEARS!!!

Drowned smurfs and cork tossing: is this indicative of too many wine tastings today? Sometimes credibility suffers when dignity declines. Energy is best when it appears to be in control.
  • I love Web 2.0, because I can say things like this.

That is a big glass. Perhaps, if you get one a tad bigger you could fit your whole head in it. Imagine having your head surrounded in wine aromas. Dream of it. You know you want it.

All in good fun, Gary, keep it up.
  • wine.woot.com is hit or miss with New Jersey shipping. I wouldn't be surprised to see NJ omitted from the 'states shipped to' list...if it's on there it'll be followed by 'expect tediously long delivery times'

QOTD - i like wikipedia.org. That's where I had to go to find out what web 2.0 was. I find myself on that site all the time just checkin' out random stuff.
  • Paul
    Great episode today.

    QOTD: WLTV without a doubt.
  • AJ Vaynerchuk
    web 2.0: http://www.popurls.com

Gary why would you ever pan grandma? :)
  • TimF
Brandon M... I agree, this comments page should be deprecated...
  • Denise
    Brandon M...the Forum scares me...
  • Lynne
    WLTV, of course! No brainer.
Thanks for the WOOT introduction. I will definitely check it out. $5.00 flat rate shipping??
Good, bad and ugly. Great movie theme. That could be used to describe the forum posts, eh?
  • wildebeest
crap, two of my links don't work

    lemme try this again:

    wikia.com
    drbukk.com
  • wildebeest
following my own advice, I just headed over to wikia.com and found the Family Guy Wiki. :D

Another favorite: the onion. I know I should probably stop listing links, but it's so hard to choose a single favorite.

BTW, thanks for introducing me to humanclock.com, Matthew L!
  • wildebeest
Wow, that was quite an episode! What got you so jazzed-up?

QOD: It goes w/o saying that I love WLTV, but I'd like to mention Gmail because it's a huge improvement on all the other email sites I've seen or used. I'm often shocked when I encounter people who are still using Hotmail or Yahoo or, gawd forbid, Aol. Also, worldcat.org is worthy of mention. It's the world's largest index of libraries, and is an invaluable research tool. Other than that, it's easy to spend hours at wikia.com, not to mention Wikipedia.

Here's another site: drbukk.com. It's not web2.0, but it's very amusing. Who wouldn't benefit from a pair of hideous fake teeth?
  • There is a serious break between forum users and show commenters these days...cmon commenters and lurkers...get on the dang forum allready.
  • BobM
Great episode Gary! I'm a Wine.Woot customer from the beginning (not all wines are available for sale in NJ, ugh) I've bought many of the offerings on the site and been pleased with the quality of each one. The $5 flat shipping rate is unbelievable (you can buy a case and it's still $5!). As far as Web 2.0 and have to include WLTV, Woot and AllMusic among my favs. Keep up the great work!
  • Another site that is similiar to WOOT, but instead offers one-wine-per-day 'til sold out is called Wines 'Til Sold Out (www.winestilsoldout.com). The prices are incredible and shipping is free with an average order of $80.
  • Susan

    QOD: Web 2.0
    Wine Library TV

    Hands down!

I love this note for orders on the Woot site: If you're drunk when the package shows up, you will not be allowed to receive it. Durn.
  • oops... correction to above... I meant flickr.com... very web 2.0... and don't forget to check out corkd.com, add me as your drinking buddy!
  • Web 2.0 siter: http://upto11.net/
  • QOTD - web 2.0: corkd.com (check out my wine "journal", "cellar", and "wishlist" - www.corkd.com/people/nasv) - I really think that site is awesome and I wish more people would use it and populate it's database! WLTV is also a recent discovery for me but I'm browsing it every day since I found it! Also, have you seen flikr.com - great idea! Also del.icio.us.

I liked that you re-emphasized the purpose of the blog and I have recommended your vblog to all my friends and family! Great episode, thanks!

    Gary,

I miss how you used to spend some time showing questions that viewers asked you about wine, and you answering them. It was my favorite part of the show. First you made it entertaining. Secondly, it was very educational - great learning for all not just the questioner. And thirdly it made for a more compelling read of the comments section because when you devoted some time to answer good questions, it motivated posters to be more active, curious, and interesting in their posts. Can you bring it back to the show? If not every show, devote one day a week to reading and answering good smart questions?

Web 2.0? Gary, you're Web 3.0! I've been Wooting for 2+ years, yet have only scored once on a Woot off and no Bags Of Cabernets yet. As far as Web 3.0, you're at the top. And when you go to woot.com, be sure to listen to Matthewmatic's songs - they're a hoot! Here's today's: http://www.woot.com/Files/20061130-COGT39.mp3
  • Jack:)
Good show. I've been to the terroir blog a few times, but I see that it has changed its appearance.
