    I forgot. Tell Sam Zen that the word is spelled “heinous”, not the goofy way he tried. I shudder to think how he would have spelled “erudite”!

    Excellent show. Need to get those Ratt. My favorite Chenin So far was Baumard Savennierres (regular bottling, Clos du Papilon, Trie Speciale and especially Quarts the Chaume) and Huet’s.
    Will be checking your pages more often.

    First time poster Gary. Great website.

    I have to get some of that Raat’s for my wife. She grew chard-fatigued and we were looking for other whites for her (and myself) to drink. Viognier has fit that bill for her, but that Chenin Blanc fits the flavor profile that I think she would like.

    Thanks Gary for covering a varietal that’s under-rated and really off most wine-radars. Chappellet in the Napa Valley does a beautiful chenin blanc, but one has to wonder– they sell it for about $12 a bottle, so how much longer will any CA producers of quality chenin blanc hang on, when they are selling chardonnay at $30-45+ and cabs at $40-75+

    Gary, your energy today was contagious! Could ya’ tell by my answer to your QOD? Too bad I’m a day (or two) late and a dollar (or two) short on my WLTV episodes. Sorry - work has been CRAZY and I haven’t been able to get my daily dose of WLTV. I doing the WLTV mini series today before I head into work.     winelibrary tv rocks! look forward to watching this show everyday. Now that I’m no longer a “lurker”, I wanted to post a question…although it has nothing to do with chenic blanc. What are some favorite house reds out there? I mean, I love to drink the $50 - $75 wines as much as anyone, but I can’t do that everyday when I get home from work. Right now, I’ve got a few red favorites that I love to drink but don’t have to empty the wallet to buy…they are in order of QPR: (a) McManis Cab (’05 - $7.99/bottle), (b) Waterstone Cab (’03 & ‘04 — $19/bottle), Tablas Creek, Côtes de Tablas (’05 - $18/bottle). Also, I’m curious how my tastes are advancing and wonder what the man, Gary V., thinks about these wines? Keep pouring…

    I’ve been a lurker since ep. # 119, and this is my first post, (found you on YouTube BTW) since then I’ve been bouncing around to various episodes trying to catch up.

    Great episode, Gary. I haven’t tried very much chenin blanc because of bad memories of Almaden and Paul Masson (sp?) back in the day. I really have liked several Vouvreys and didn’t even know that they were chenin blanc, so that’s a bit of an eye opener.

    QOTD: Get way too excited, in a couple of different ways. The one I can write about here involves me spending a freakishly long time time on the internet researching the wine, then adding it (along with the varietal, producer, country of origin, price, and my own tasting notes) to an admittedly geeky list I keep of every wine that I’ve ever tasted. The other one—- I’m pretty sure no one wants to hear about.

    When I drink a nice bottle of wine it makes me want to find out as much about the wine, where it comes from and how it is made as I can. Then I want to go out and get another bottle to try it again.

    Gary, once in a while could you remember that some of us are brand new to wines,tasting and wine talk. I know that I am not the only one that sometimes has no idea of what you are talking about. But I sure am learing a lot.
