Wine and weather go hand in hand and today Gary will tackle the issue once and for all, sit back and enjoy!

  • I have a weird question - why is the numbered sign in the video a different number than the episode? Just curious. Damn you looked cold. Another nice episode!

This is a great video for us Vermonters...Snowy, icy, burrrrr cold evening. Gary is like a mail man
through wind and rain and snow...!
  • Ahoy Gary,

Thanks for the Tweet about this. This is the first time viewing for me. After growing up in Chicago and living 20 years in Maine, I am not in any hurry to see snow anytime soon. ;)

I don't think you will see snow today in New Orleans. However, they did have snow not too long ago! A weird perfect storm front...

  • Best video ever my man! By the way, you guys need to get a new sign for Wine Library
  • Green Pea
Now that was priceless.......I can't wait to pull that one up at our next wine tasting.

This episode is the best.. I watch it and laugh, yet become informed/educated on the wines. We need more like this!!!
  • Brandon
hahaha Dude, favorite episode so far, NICE CATCH!! That was PERFECT! Cheers

qotd: it was anyone that got me off school as a kid.

love the lengths you go to on this show Gary.
Would love to see you do a vin jaune episode
  • Tnx so much, i live in really cold place and some time its impossible to get warm enough bottle of wine home.
But Garry, sound is terrible :(
  • Van F.
    Last!

April fools snow day back in the day.
  • Mickey
    hey Gary,
    Funny show.
QOTD: is there a wines glass that will not tip over under a heavy wind?
  • I don't think people are talking about the weather when they drink a wine, more maybe when the grape is one the vine, maybe. Do you think? Freakin crazy.
QOTD: Best snow day? Yeah well I live in LA, and had to be evacuated due to rain, but never snow. My neighbors house started to slip into my backyard. Got to spend it with my honey and a good Bordeaux though. Because as long as you haven't the slightest clue if your house is going to be there in the morning, you had better enjoy life as best you can. (House is still here. WOOHOO!)

:D Great episode. I hope you got the disguised assassin back! At least he didn't give you a white wash on camera.

QOTD: We used to get snow days when it dipped below -20°F for a day time high. Which was funny because the time that I am remembering, my friend and I built snow forts all day, so I was outside waaaay longer than if I had just gone to school. That time and the day we could barely open the front door because there was so much snow that dumped overnight were my favorites.

i am going to go full-moon skiing up ontop of the sandia mountains (10,000ft elevation) tomorrow night. We usually take a bottle of burbon, but I think i will try to take a bottle of wine and some glasses and see how that works at the forecast 20-25 degrees F.

i think a white...so it will be properly chilled. any suggestions?

it does get pretty windy up there also.

    i'll let you know.

No one here talks about wine??
  • Ray Barnes
Gary, I gotta give that show from the archives 95+ points for originality. In its bizarre fashion, it makes the most compelling argument for the greatness of Ch. Lynch-Bages. Frankly, I liked the bad audio. Your crew has a great sense of humour. Too bad you didn't have any ice wine at the end though. :-)

QOTD: On December 21, 2001, the day before my 40th birthday, my family had a day trip while on vacation in Yosemite National Park. There was a snowstorm the day before and on that day it was sunny, clear, and not too cold. It was a truly sublime day.

Gary, its realy amazing. Next tasting on the rocks.

    Greatings from Germany
  • This was a very fun episode to watch. Seeing the glass slide across the table was fun and seeing, I think the dudes name is Mott, stand in the background the entire time and cover himself with the sign when Gary spit was fun to.

One of your best episodes Gary.
  • E dog
    Epic episode !

I ve been watching a couple of early WLTV and this is really one of the best episodes... ever ! :D
  • Gary, we have GOT TO get you to do a WLTV at a tailgate party at Lambeau Field!!!

From frozen Jersey to the Frozen Tundra!!
  • VTchef
This show definatly brings the thunder baby, you have one more loyal fan Gary.
I have allways wanted to learn more about wine but with running a kitchen I don't have much free time now I can learn at home. Thanks a bunch Gary you rule.
  • Just 2 words to say:

    It rocks! :)

    THX, Gary.
  • John D.
Holy crap! Good grief that weather reminds me of the lake effect snow we used to get growing up in Rochester, NY coming off Lake Ontario. Gary, you da man! The best snow day? Well, I can only think of the monster ice storm we got way back in 1991. We were without power for a week and cooked all our meals in the fireplace. One of the few times they ever cancelled school up there!
  • Andrew H.
That was awsome! ...also, nice catch
  • brian
    amazing catch of the glass
  • OMG GARY!!!!!!!!! That is too too too funny!!!
    It made me cold!
Glad I finally saw this past episode...youre a nut!
    xo
  • OMG,
Gary, you are one crazy dude!

My mother would get an heart attack if she had seen me like this outside on the snow (plus she would probably give me a smack to the face;)
  • The Virginian
LOL!!! That was fantastic! But I thought it was going to have more to do with how weather, i.e. rain/dry/hot/cold affect the grapes during growing and how this affects the finished wine.
  • Damn! I remember that storm, it took me 3 hours to drive home from work and almost got blown off the highway!

Awesome show!!! I was laughing so hard when the wine bottles starting moving too!

Thanks for doing what you do! We really appreciate it at our house.
  • Maybe it's cause I'm a canuck and I'm in the middle of a snowstorm right now, but this one has replaced 148 as my all time favourite ep. We didn't get a recap at the end on how weather affects wine though - maybe you could do it again??! Love the wine glass blowing across the table.
  • OMFG, this was H*I*L*A*R*I*O*U*S!
  • Kristen
haha! this is an amazing episode!

QOTD: Probably one of the snow days during elementary school in Massachusetts.
  • Deanna
My husband and I watched this episode a couple weeks ago and had to rewind it several times to watch your glass slide off the table! You are hilarious! Thanks for not being a stuffy wine snob!
  • CiderJack
We've got nothing to do with it. It's ALL you, Gary! You have changed the face of wine tasting forever! For the better, imho...

    Cheers!
  • Winenerd
    Aha Gray, very intersting...
