QOTD: An idea that springs to mind is to break into a wine store with Bacchus, and strawpedo some Krug (I heard that’s his favourite) before the cops showed up.

QOTD: If I could pick anyone at any time in the world, I would choose my buddy, my pal, my life’s partner: my wife.

If I *had* to pick a non-family-member, then it would be really fun to tip back a glass of vintage port with Winston Churchill.

The Cabernet boom had a lot to due with the French paradox as well.

Grammar 101, folks – Sauvignons, not Sauvignon’s – plural versus possessive!!

Thanks for doing this show. I’m always curious to know if those big cult cabs from CA are really worth the $$$. Gary, you rock!

BTW, what do you do with all the open bottles of wine after you’re done recording the show? It would be a terrible waste to pour such pricey wines down the sink! Say it ain’t so Gary! Say it ain’t so! LOL

I would like to say Godspeed Don, and I hope you get well soon!

DON: You are in my prayers, man. QOTD: I swear we’ve done this one before, but tonight I will say, Thomas Jefferson. Why? He liked wine and he was brilliant.

Nice eye opener Gary! Just goes to show, that high cost and snobby labels, don’t always equal a great wine(2003 Mount Veeder Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon $66.00!).
    All the best to Don!

I had the ‘02 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon way back on ‘05 camping out under a bridge near the Washington/Canada border, so i can’t really remember if it was any good. It was fun though!

Question: Charles De Gaulle or Hunter S. Thompson

You da man Don, be good.

I had my suspicions about CDF when I heard Winn was involved. It sounds fun, but sort of too lavish and time-serving, capitalizing on the mass affluent who line up for Winn’s casino and just giving them what they want, i.e. candy. I’d still like to try it. Sounds great with… chocolate!

Don, be well. You’ve heard it a bunch. I’d love to share a glass of wine with you any time!

    Hey GV,

I have never had thge Coup De Foudre, but the way you are describing it sounds awful similar to the 2003 Kenwood Zin ie lots of chocolate flavor. The Kenwood does not overpower you and it only costs around $16.00 bucks. All of my friends that I have served it to love it. I picked up 2 cases of it out at Kenwood on a 50% off special. So for $8.00 it is a great everyday wine. I would be interested in knowing what you think…Maybe do a zin episode. Ever try Suusal Old Vine Zin? Another nice one..

Shot out to Don, hope you get better soon.

GV – great episode. Thx for steering me away from the MV.

QOTD: How about Jesus? I’d bring the water – we’d be all set… ;)
    Alternate choice: Kurt Vonnegut.

Why Gary V of course. But I would love to sit down with Stephen Tanzer as well. Maybe just follow him around to all of the barrel tastings he does.

Don, I’ve seen your posts from the beginning and am getting to the age where health problems may crop up so I can identify. Keep up the positive and that will keep you going.

The Chappelet has disappointed in the past. They seemed to make a big drop off in qualtiy in the 90’s. Glad to hear they are making better wine. ‘78 Chappelet was absolutely wonderful

    Hi Gary,
I love this episode. I wish you could have added Kuleto Estate Cab. and compared it to these other Califonia Cab’s. I think you will be surprised on how good the Current release Kuleto Cab’s are….

Thank you so much for being the most interesting, in your face wine reviewer ever to have walked on this earth!!! You inspire me to learn more about wine every time I watch your show. Simply put, you are my wine hero :-D
QOTD…Of all the living people on this revolving planet, other than my boyfriend, Michael (of course), I would find drinking a glass of wine most enjoyable with none other than you, Gary Vaynerchuk…Duh, that was a no brainer!
Of all the dead people that ever walked on this rotating orb, I would appreciate most sharing a bottle of fine wine with Carl G. Jung. I have no doubt that it would be the most interesting conversation that I’ve ever had…
P.S. Don, my thoughts are with you…I hope you are feeling better soon!!!

Wish I could give the Coup De Foudre a try (with Carolyn, that’s my answer to the qotd). But dang, that’s pretty high rent! I gotta say, I’m more inspired to find a bubbly that knocks my socks off, I struggle with appreciating the fizzy wines.

Holy crap love chocolate-wish I could afford the last wine. QOTD-my wife-who is currently in england for the next seven weeks (was that too cheesy?).
