That is amazing news. Its too bad Im a year late or I would have absoultely gotten in on this. I hope the entire process was a success and everyone who was a part of it had a great time. Heres to success and to doing this (hopefully) again! *cheers!*

This is the coolest thing I have ever heard of! I hope you do this on an annual basis.
  • I want to taste the wine Gary! I also want to come party in San Francisco. Are all these cases already sold out?
  • Wow! So I finally caught up to this episode! Great announcement! Very excited to get me a bottle and give it a try! Congrats to the V-Man and the growing community out there that's making this effort possible!
  • I have been lurking for a couple of weeks now, Trying to catch up on the past episodes that iTunes has downloaded, wanting to have a reason to write (never know what to say), Anyway, I am here in Northern California, cannot wait to get involoved in this, Will try and make it at least one if not all events. Will help in anyway that I can. Going to go and pre-order right now if there is anything left. Being a part of changing something as monumental as the wine world is amazing, thanks to Gary for including all of us in that!

Just last night I was bemoaning the fact that you have to be a gadzillionnaire to own a winery and then hallelujah Gary comes along to lead his people home. Are you sure you aren't Canadian? Goddess bless you, and how can I sign up?
  • Hi Gary,

Great piece of news you have here. Looking forward to more great stuff from you.
    Thanks!
  • Well Gary, this is just so amazing. I feel part of a community, and not just a comunity in the Internet kind of way but a real community. Hello everybody. Let us create a great wine together. And you local people who have the opportunity to go there for the harvesting, dont go eating up all the grapes now!

    So excited

    Let's do this.

  • Hi Gary,

I am still following your vlog day by day and I am thrilled by your idea. You put so much energy and as we say in Germany "heart blood" into your idea to create a real wine community.

One question, you mentined, that in the future you might end up doing such a kind of project in different areas of the world, but how can we participate now in this project? is there any chance of a least buying some botles at the end of the story here in Europe, are you going to export some cases?

    would be great to know.

    regards
    Thorsten

    Cool idea.

    Hi Gary,

nice idea and big thumbs up for your enthusiasm.
However, I am a little bit unsure as to how this should
work out well. Many people with many opinions could possibly
    spoil the result.

Still I hope it will be a success and send you my best
    wishes for your project.
  • Gary sells out. What a jerk-off. I wonder who will get the 500 cases? Those who are in S.F. and those that pay the most. What about the rest of the nation? Piss on them. Gary wants to play big-shot wine maker and go against all that he has been saying all along. Average guy --- screw you! I make wine and you don't. Whoever pays the most gets to blend it. I say kiss my ass Gary. I don't want any wine made by some rich kiss up. In the mean time I will keep my inclusive attitude towards wine, help those who show interest and avoid the elitists...including new ones like Gary. What a disappointment. Make sure to charge your Mom for her one bottle, jerk.
  • Keith L
    Gary, Fantastic!! I am in.

Ian, good luck as host as Gary moves on to wine making. Based on your intro, you will change the wine world too.
  • My friends and I were going to make Zin through Crushpad next fall. Now we have an even bigger reason to do it twice. Count me in!
  • Jay
Nice. I live in CA so I will be getting involved for sure.
  • Rich Davis
Most Excellent! Put me down for a couple of cases!
  • Christopher T
I think its awesome, I can most likely only afford 1 bottle...or maybe not if its $38. Well, whether I participate or not, I think its awesome!
  • shmunkie78
GARY THIS IS AWESOME!!! We'll do all we can to be part of this process from Cleveland!!!
  • 97brunello
    Gary,

Do you know that you can do this much closer to home? I make wine every year at the Wine Room in Livingston. The wine is delicious and during blind tastings it has scored very highly.

Just a thought: why not spread the wealth and do this around the country?

the Nap Cab initiative sounds ok.... pity i'm in sydney......
  • Dom
    Nice Gary.........coubt me in Buddy!

So the announcement was killer - very exciting stuff. It's kind of funny about the Food Network stuff because I always talk about how I can't believe they don't have any show dedicated to wine. They even have that Thirsty Traveler guy working on Iron Chef America, but still no dedicated wine show.

So how is this going to work now that you are getting into the wine making side of things - even without "scoring" the wines, it seems like it could still be seen as a conflict of interest.

One more thing - I agree on Albarino, but I sometimes wonder about Arinto out of Portugal. Kind of versatile like Albarino, although they are markedly different, but the wine seem able to fit into several situations.
  • fatherthechair
I'm in! A surprising, refreshing announcement, far from a disappointment. The food network thing would have been one though. I only watch TV on the internet now!
  • Byzandula
What fantastic news! I hope the price point will come in at a reasonable level considering the communal nature of this juice. If so, I'll definitely be interested in purchasing a few bottles. I just wish I had the funds to fly out and enjoy the crafting experience (not to mention the final blend which would be a dream). Cheers!
  • joebot
Chateau Vayniac LOL ! sounds good! I'm in GA and wouldn't be able to buy this I don't think..?? But I wish you all the best in making this cab!!

    Joe
  • Holy crap! You had me scared there for a minute! The opening, combined w/ your twitter message about buying facebook, had me thinking that Gary might actually be gone.

It's good to see the tasting glass again.

I've got some Thundercats for you, and I'll be sending them soon.

Wow! Thank you for choosing the west coast for this project. I hope I can make it to SF for some of it.
  • Len C
Nice!!! You are a true innovator. This should be an cool adventure.
  • JonE
Your using your connections, some that most of us will never have access to. And with this your sharing the wealth to an army of people very eager to play a part in something that would easily be out of reach. Thank you for the oppurtunity. Big ups G-Man!
  • pv
At first glance of the episode, i was ready to protest your replacement. I am relieved that it was a joke. i am anticipating a great announcement while i listen to this episode. I am enjoying the buildup....so far so good. I like the blending part, the community theme and wine party in SF. I'm signing up. See you in October. I cannot believe! Great idea!
