line of the day – ‘did you really believe in the magic wand’

Ingrid seems a bundle of fun and although she brings a good attitude to the table, she takes forever to get her point across. Gary’s tempo is on a different level and although she’s probably great solo, for me, this pairing doesn’t quite work

  • Hmm…I was thinking more Mexican food: how to pair wine with an enchilada, for example!!

Gary, I loved this show and can’t understand why so much negative comment. Sure, Ingrid Hoffman was already tipsy as the show began, and also very flirty to you and the camera–what a change to see Gary have to be the adult!

And as an earlier poster pointed out, that spit wine/food analogy was a new take on bulemia.

Now to gewürztraminer: I didn’t view the earlier episodes you made with Zmor, but I hope you pointed out to anyone who couldn’t get Zmor in his local wineshop and decided to sub another California gewürztraminer, DON’T!
Most Cali g’s are sweet nothings. Zmor is fermented completely out–no residual sugar–and has some of the spice, though not the minerality, of European examples. And while Alsace is nice, Ingrid maybe inadvertently pointed out that the keyword is “Traminer,” the town (OK, Tramin) in Italy’s Alto Adige region where the grape variety originated. I’m sipping ’07 Tarczal
Tramino and Manchego cheese as I type this, and I ain’t spittin’ it out!

Great show Gary. Why are people talking about Ingrid being tipsy? She is drinking wine for God’s sake. She was refreshing and fun to watch! She brought some lightning to complement the thunder! It’s all about having fun, don’t forget that Vayniacs.

  • Man- this was the FIRST episode i HAD to STOP. (and probably not even going to bother with the 2nd episode). No chemistry, just awkward like the Cyprusian Red you’re about to show next episode.
Gotta be selective with the guests! (This was just ‘bad programming’ after Maynard and Jancis!!)

I found this episode not at all interesting and did not even watch the second part. Sorry GV, they can’t all be gems.
