The best thing Costco does are those damn tasty corn muffins. I’m addicted to them. If on an island stranded, I’d want booze, cheese, and corn muffins for breakfast…and an xbox 360. That would do it for me.

Alexander Valley is Sonoma County, not Napa. Honest mistake, I think GV kicked himself when he watched this. Peace!

Thanks for doing this tasting… I always see these wines down at Costco, but I’ve always assumed they sucked. Maybe not…
I agree with Mr. Pierce above: Wine and War is a GREAT book, and a wonderful lesson in history. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about wine and who didn’t pay attention in History class in high school.
    Cheers all.

Not surprised Costco did well, and if you spill any of the wine, remember their paper towels are superior.

Reading “Rant,” Palahniuk’s latest. Gritty and self-indulgent as always. Go Chuck. And go Costco!

Started reading “The Naked and the Dead” a week before Norman Mailer died (on my birthday of all days). The last book I actually finished was Practical Demon-keeping by Christopher Moore.

I can’t wait to try these Kirkland brand wines. It seems lately like I’ve had so many $22-28 bottles that taste like $13 bottles. These are right up my alley.

QOTD: Beyond Distruption. By Jean-Marie Dru and a compilation of some of the top minds at TBWA, the Advertising Agency. Talks about the need to constantly Disrupt your process and your perspective, to find new value and sustainability. Very good. I highly recommend.

PS. I wish I had a Costco out here in China, so I could check out that Kirkland.

QOTD: “Reliquary” by Childs and Spector. Good scary novel to let my brain relax on this business trip. On deck is “Stormy Weather” by Carl Hiassen, one of my favorite authors. He’s is wicked cool in his dark humor.

    Hi Gary,

Please, for my sake I have but one favour to ask - the pronunciation of Barossa - please say it like a local - Bar-o-ssa not Ba-roh-sa. :)

Loving the show - even more loving the push that people get stuck into wines that *they* enjoy rather than what other people rate/say/suggest!

Here’s to changing the wine world!

Here is someone who didn’t have such a good Costco experience -

    http://winecamp.squarespace.com/journal/2007/10/31/coteaux-costco.html

How about head-to-head blinded bottles same wine (say a 2003 or 4), same exact (non-Kirkland) bottle from Costco and from WineLibrary or other ‘trusted’ merchant to see how costco storage fares. That would be a huge service to the Vayner nation.
