Ok, I was on the Thunder cruise-over 300 wines to taste. At the end, Gary said, “please take oa bottle to your room if you like”. Of all the wines there, this is the one (The Frank Family Zinfandel) I chose as my gift wine-I had never had a Zin before-I know they as a group may not measure up to this Zin, I have to say this was an awesome wine-(2006) vintage… Impressive!!!

qotd: double windsor, but four in hand works better for me sometimes (double windsor uses a lot of the tie so it kinda sucks if you’re tall)

Had the chance to go to Frank Family Vineyards last weekend. Was totally blown away by their entire selection of wines.

Ended up splurging on their 1998 Signature Brut – simply put, the most incredible sparkling wine I’ve ever tasted.

Gary, I just went on my first trip to Napa and stopped at Frank Family, not remembering this episode, and couldn’t agree with you more. Though I am on a very limited wine budget, I had to get a bottle of the 2005 Napa Valley Zinfandel. They also have a very limited production of zinfandel port that was outstanding, and I wasn’t supposed to taste, oops, but couldn’t swing it. Thanks Gary.

I watched this episode. Went out to get FFZ and watched you again. I totally agree. This is an amazing Zin! I called Whole Foods, who said FFZ is flying out of their store since Thanksgiving, so I am going to get their last 4 bottles. Gary your wine choices have influenced Silicon Valley!

Had the pleasure to visit Frank Family last year in Napa and the Zin was fantastic. Reserve Cab from the winery is also outstanding. Dennis (in sales) conducts a wonderful tasting. This was a hidden gem of our tasting trip. Frank Family rocks!!!

Double Windsor baby! Best looking knot of them all! There are seriously some real poopy looking knots out there… can’t people learn how to tie a tie?

I’ll have to check out the frank family zin! I had the Saxon Brown 2000 single vineyard (can’t remember what vineyard) and I thought it was the cat’s ass! I LOVED the stuff!

The classic freestyle bowtie knot is head and shoulders above all other knots. Dapper and sophisticated, yet fun and unique.

I just learned it last week so I might be biased.

QOTD: Pratt knot, AKA the most sophisticated, perfectly balanced, yet not oversized knot. (http://www.totieatie.com/pratt.asp)

    Happy Annivesary, Birthday, and Thanksgiving!

    Happy Birthday Gary! :)

Hope you and Lizzie had a great anniversary yesterday.

QOTD – I don’t wear ties, apart from the clip on Bow-ties I use with my Kilt. In the past I’ve gone for a simple single knot – no idea what it’s called (nothing pretentious anyway).

Thanks for the tip on the Frank Family. Seeking some out today.

QOTD: Tie? … I don’t where one if I can help it, but interesting to know there are so many ways to tie a tie.
