Warning! High adrenaline release in 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1. Since I’m watching this episode 5 months late I doubt that my intro warning is timely. For every person who complains about your high energy intro there are several of us that appreciate it. You said you’re thinking about having an “Oak Monster” show. At first I got a little excided but it soon started seeming like a bad idea. I’m not cool with you trotting out my Oakmon just so you can slam him. Anyway in case you’re looking for candidates, here’s some of my favorite oaky reds, they’re all reasonably priced and they’re each a different varietal: Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon (I loved the mouth drying sensation of the 2004); Iron Stone Vineyard Cabernet Franc (the 2003 definitely wasn’t aromatically challenged); Cune Rioja Crianza (2004 was delicious–lots of cherries); Rodney Strong Pinot Noir (this was my favorite back in the 80’s, I bought a couple 2006’s but I haven’t started drinking 2006 yet. The last one I remember trying was 1982).

Just watching the archives and wanted to comment on this show (#357), it was awesome! Great energy, plus I really enjoyed watching a half bottle show. I recently went to Thomas Keller’s Per Se in nyc and had a half bottle of the 2003 Guiseppe Mascarello Monprivato Barolo, we freakin loved it..especially with the braised pork belly course. Thanks for the show!

I cannot understand why anyone would drop out because of the intro. I think anyone who would, really takes themselves and wine a little too seriously. GV, I love the intro, and your enthusiasm in general. Please never change a thing!

    Hey “dude”,

You can have your opinion on GV, but I’ll give props to someone who will blast a wine and call it junk, while having it standing on his stores shelves. I winery must clam up when they hear they were on WLTV.

    Hey GV,
I would be hesitant to change anything. Look where you are. You’re reading e-mails from fans that have stuck with you . . is that a hint . . they’re still with you.
OK, maybe a variety of 15 minute spots with warning labels might help to reduce loss but I would say most people find out about your by word of mouth or surfing the cyberworld so they should get past the first 15 seconds.
    great ep, Keep it up.

Hello Gary Vaynerchuk, and welcome to QOTD - NO! Do not change, for me it was the crazy intro that pulled me in, anything else could get pretentious, boring or worse……mainstream.

Sorry I’m late to this, been away. You’ll be getting my 5×2 cents all in one go tonight!

Not sure of the hoody-look, slightly monastic tones there, nasty habit.

QOTD: When I first started watching WLTV, I didn’t like how you talked about all the miscellaneous stuff like the jets, e-mail, birthday’s, etc. in the beginning of the show…it would be nice to start out with the wine, and then all that other stuff at the end, so we can skip it if we want to.

GV - Little slow on my episodes - but good to see a show on halves. I often have to open a bottle solo - so good to hear your thoughts!

Don’t sell out and be reduced to the common denominator. People either like you or they don’t. If they are that closed minded, then you don’t need them. Or have you been feeding us a bunch of bull? Practice what you preach and don’t cave in.

    Hey GV,

I was entertained by the show intro’s from the start. Part of what originally intrigued me was the fact that you were a “down-to-earth” guy with upbeat energy; somebody most everyone can quickly relate to! I wasn’t looking for another cork-dork or wine-snob and your personality makes viewing the show that much more enjoyable.

I’ve recommended WLTV to all my friends and work-buddies because there’s no intimidation factor and I’m convinced all the viewers can both learn and be entertained. Your energy lets everyone know you’re excited about wine and gets the viewers pumped for what’s about to follow.

If you want to slap a warning label on anything how about any televised Jets game (HA!)

QOTD: I happen to like the beginning of the show, but I trust you will do the right thing. You can’t please everyone, and sometimes it may be better not to. If people are turned off by the beginning maybe they are not the type of people you need watching anyways.

I believe if you have a true heart with good intentions, you can let the chips fall where they may and good things will happen.

They say “Ore-uh-gun”, accent on “Ore” in Oregon. Also in WA, CA, all over the west into the plains states into the midwest down through the south up the east coast and around Jersey, all the way to Maine. Jergheeeeunssssss.B.unique

Don’t give up the intro! It’s what make you, you! Thought I’m gonna try to come up with a warning intro for you soon.

I live alone, so I drink alone almost every evening (a glass or two with dinner). So a 750ml lasts me 2-4 days. (seldom 4…. usually just 3). Almost every wine I drink is better the second & third days- and I don’t Vaccuum-Vin or whatever, just cork it back up and refridge it. Given that, I think a half-bottle would make my wine experience LESS fulfilling.

QOTD: forget the disclaimers - you’re doing fine. A few complaints out of how many thousand viewers? I’d bet for every person turned off by your intro, another TEN are intrigued / fascinated / psyched by it.

You ARE weird Gary… but that’s why you rock! If you weren’t different, you’d be boring like all the other wine nerds in the industry and who needs more boring?!? Mix it up, change the beat! Great show. Keep it up.
