how do the: CROZES-HERMITAGE and CAVE DE TAIN stack up?
  • Crozes is the cousin wine, a bit less expensive but its syrah and not far from the same taste experience . Cave de Tain is a producer that makes both hermitage and Crozes-H
  • Patrick Myers
Gary, you should have on the show McPrice Myers Syrah Les Galets 06

Hermitage. I have to try it now. I am a big rhone fan and have never had the pleasure of hermitage. Don't know if I am going to spend 110 bucks but I will seek out the varietal.
    Great show.
  • Dessert Wine Nerd
Great show. Glad you went on and treated yourself even though the last wine was a dud. My wine shop has Hermitage so I will look into buying one in the future. QOTD: Well obviously its way too late, but I was Giants all the way. I HATE the Pats and didnt want them to share the light with the 72' Dolphins.
  • yut
i don't hate you.... i don't have a particular flavor profile that i prefer... i really just care about strong structure (mid-palate, finish, balance, complexity etc...) what region/grape do i look to for the best qpr?
  • Chris Holbrook
Also a fan of the McPrice, my wife and I love yr show and the Grenach. Let's see a show on Navarra and Jumilla. Keep it up!!!
  • StevoVino
QOTD: Eli scrambles away from 50 possible sack opportunities, throws a prayer to his TE who catches it on his pinky while horizontal and getting crushed from both directions which leads to a last minute TD and Giant Superbowl rings all round. ;-)

    BTW 491 and counting...

Good show Gary--truly lived up to the "thunder" rep! Trying to get you to 500 even if it is March....
  • Adema
Friend from mmo social network told me about this...rofl to exploding wine!
  • Andrew
True that, Gary, our pals can change. Thank you for embracing that concept.
  • Matt Sievert
Nothing to see here, no lurking here.
    Good episode.
  • wannaBconnoisseur
Great show!!! Hermitage has been on my splurge list for a while, got to try one.

    Hey Gary,
I am glad you are staying. I have turned learning more about wines as a second hobby!! Between WLTV and traveling to Bordeaux last year, I am having a ball!! Keep up the good work!!

  • Nice work with the wine today...not so much with the initial SB prediction though.
  • Claus
I scored two bottles of the McPrice locally...yum. I get a lot of Brussel Sprout though underneath the fruit. Very nice. Let's see how it fares tomorrow with some food.
  • QOTD: Just watched WLTV 2/5 and the Giants won on 2/3, so I can't make a prediction. :(
  • C.J.
Butter bandit! haha you gotta make shirts for that. A stick of butter robbing the fruit from chardonnay.
  • QOTD: I watched this too late. :) But now I predict that when I get home to Maine, all the football fans will still be inconsolably depressed.
  • SoCal
QOTD: I took the pats and lost a $100
  • Doogie
why spit into a bucket with your favorite team's logo on it? As a diehard Packer fan, I'd gladly spit into a Bears or Viking spit bucket ....
  • Scottie P
I'm into the butter bandit. Bring it on!
  • RieslingRon
    Gary,

Great show.......it's Monday and I'm catching up on last weeks episodes, as Friday we left for Hilton Head for a month.

My Giants managed to pull off the upset..........WOW !!!
  • YoungDave
QOTD: PATS BABY!! (but I'm watching this on Sunday night and am both exremely surprised and depressed by the reality that the damn Giants somehow pulled it off at the end, and the Pats had a crappy game...the kind of game that they have one in every, say, 19 or so games...WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE THIS ONE??!! Damn it!)
  • Hey there WLTV,
OK, GV, you have done it, finally brought me out of Lurkerdom. It's great to see the show kicking with renewed energy as it approaches 400. I watch here in Japan, although I hail from South Aussie. Speaking of which, when I worked in the industry throughout the nineties, the big cult wines of the Barossa V were the Hill of Grace and Grange. I hear nothing of these wines now, what happened do you think. I have loved wine for a long time, and used to work as a sommelier (Aussie style). Just wanted to say, Cheers mate! I have learnt so much from watching WLTV and it sates my appetite for wine talk, because let's face it, outside of the industry it is an exy hobby! Shame really.
  • Scott
Bring on the butter bandit shirts!
Thanks for the link it up contest. Can't wait to see the results.

QOTD: NYG 17- Pats 14. I'll even put money on it.
  • Gary,
    Your New York Giants!

    Albany, NY
  • Kirk
QOTD: I'd like to start by saying that I don't even follow sports. but if I had to guess. I'd say Pats 24 and Giants 17. With that said...I see you have more of the new wristbands out there....can i get one of the new ones? I sent in a picture of myself with the black one...but would love to have another to flaunt at tastings...
  • Big Nick
WOW.......I don't think I have ever seen such a swing in mood as just happened here. The Hermitage to the last P.S. what a swing. Your face said a thousand words. I am not a huge butter bandit guy, but on occassion I can find a creamy Chard that hits the spot. Had one the other day that was buttery, but also full of pineapple. It was a nice flavor combo.

    QOTD: Giants 17 Pats 27

I feel your pain......as a Lions fan we are used to getting our handed to us.
  • Brian Swanson
    Pats 35
    Giants 17
  • salvatore
    Gary................

No contest... none.....nadda..... forget about it !!!!!!!!!!!

Perfect History making Patriots all the way.......... "World Champions !"

    QOTD: NE 31 - NY 17
  • Hey GV- Thanks for another great episode. My dad was visiting from the other coast and we had a nice time watching this together.

    QOTD: Patriots, 31-17.
  • Gary great show

Haven't had any US Grenache, but my favourite New World examples are from the good growers of the Mclaren Vale - Samual's Gorge is my current passion, you'd love it.

    QOTD: Super what???

    Andrew
  • Giants! Global nationalism is way to over reaching and creates rifts where there should be none. Hrrrm, a bit too opinionated for a QOTD!
