Haven’t tried the Sauternes yet, but I will now. I’ve been happy to see a good selection of 375 ml bottles. I’ll pick up 1 for this weekend. Dude, cheer up. Your show still rocks.

I actually think Sauterne is great. I thought the 2001 Fargues was great. I did not get the chlorine thing at all. Do you think there was a problem with the bottle you tried?

Haven’t tried a sauterne yet, but I think the color alone has convinced me to give it a try.

Been having some problems connecting to the Internet so I only caught about 2/3 of yesterday’s show. Actually been behind in watching since I got sick too. I have confidence that the thunder will be back soon.

I love me some Sauternes. I’ve had 2 different producers- big fan of Ch Rieusac.

I have never tried one yet, but made a note in my book in case I run across the opportunity.

    Thanks GV

GV, I’ve only tried one Sauterne and was a little dissapointed. It had awesome fruit but I didn’t feel that it had the acid to balance it out. Your cheese and Sauterne pairing had my mouth watering so I’m going to hunt down a couple more and give them another go.

I love the varietal, but there are not that many kosher Sauternes, but Yarden an Israeli producer makes a wonderful Noble Semmilon that is really interesting (esp 2003 vintage

What happened? I watch every episode, but sometimes a whole week at a time. It’s kind of a gray morning, made even grayer by the somber mood. You are an upbeat guy, keep it up.

    We are not going anywhere.

Thanks for all of the shows.

I’ve only had the pleasure of tasting one or two Sauternes. I loved them. Gary, I see we made it past 1000! Hope you get your thunder back! Thanks for all you do.

Looks to me like you hit 1,000 chief…shake it off. I haven’t had any Sauternes yet but I put away a bottle of 2005 Chateau Filhot…I’ll wait till I’m 50 to pop that one…an ‘05 for 50.

Fella sooooooooo sorry for not adding a comment sooner on the 2 year ani, only getting to watch now, been very very busy at work.

The guilt game worked a peach on me.

QOTD: Love Sauternes, matches so well with foie gras.
Any thing that is politicaly incorrect to eat is fine by me. Love eating cute animals to.

    Bambi anyone??

QOTD: Heck yeah, love the stuff. I tend to stick with the ones that run $35 and less for 375ml. At the end of a meal after the normal dry reds, these really refresh the palate. I also like Aussie stickies and PX from Spain as bargains in this type of wine.

    GV,
Great episode. Catching up so I didn’t get a chance to leave a comment for the anniversary episode.
QOTD: Never had Sauternes before, but wife and I are going to a fancy French restuarant for our anniversary on the 26th and am thinking about seeking out a Sauternes if they have one. We almost always skip on the dessert, but this year we decided to skip on gifts for each other and just have a really nice dinner. Think it’s time to enjoy the evening and spend an extra hour trying some cheeses and hopefully a Sauternes after our meal.

QOTD: I happen to know everything there is to know about Sauternes! I love Sauternes. I love Sauternes on pancakes. I love it on pizza. And I even take Sauternes and put a little bit in my hair when I’ve had a rough week. What do you think holds it up, slick?
