I want that couch. Seriously. Can we work out some kind of deal? I'll fly out there and mop the floors or stock wines or something. God it looks so comfy!!! Anyways back to the wine. Sorry about losing a friend over being who you are, Im sure we all know how that feels but it still hurts. QOTD: I assume this is somewhat related to it being Easter weekend and its obviously not Easter now. As ive said before I work weekends so I dont really do much other than work. I usually come home and just vegetate online or do some reading.
  • QOTD: Too late, but I WANT A WRISTBAND!!!!!!! PLEASE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  • Hm. Watching this after the weekend..makes the qotd difficult.

I will invite some new blood into the tasting group. Promise.

Well, it's a bit late, but last weekend....our family went out to celebrate my Mom's 80th birthday. Had a lovely dinner and some unremarkable wines. But the company was fabulous!

    Great show Gv!!

It is Easter weekend and therefore there are a lot of family and church events planned.
Just a quick note - and I don't want to come off preachy - I would much prefer you dropping an "F bomb", than for you to use the GD phrase. It is just not cool!
  • GARY!
Whats with ALL the wristbands..but I have NONE?! Huh? Huh?
    :)
    Thanks for another fun episode.

Sweet little video of the south of France.

QOTD: I was on the French Riviera all weekend. Nice, Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Ventamiglia in Italy. Phenomenal places down there. I am in love. It is also amazing how rose down there seems to go with all the beautiful food, and how can you not drink a rose on a beach in the sun? It pretty much demands it
  • Hey beutiful video of France

QOTD: This weekend I'm all over the HK7s: the bigest party / sporting event in Hong Kong.

    Cheers

Well work as usual, work in a busy pediatric ER. Do the wine thing during the week, work with the police department during the week, catch up on the episodes etc. Love what I do, love the WLTV, really appreiciate your knowledge and passion.

QOTD: I know it's late, but over the weekend I worked, popped both an Italian white (Pinot Grigio, of all things, but it was the Fantinel Tessis de Borgo from Friuli that you did on the show a LONG time ago- decent stuff) and a Sardinian red (2005 Argiolas Perdera), and had a few LONG conversations over the phone with family back home on the East Coast on Easter Sunday. Family really is the most important thing...

I've been tasting a bit of Colorado wine, and I'm yet to visit a local vineyard. For some reason the vineyard you visited reminded me of CO... I could be way off though. Maybe it was just the hills and the rocky soil.

QOTD:I watched a lot of the"Madness" this weekend and watched some great young b'ball players. My wife and I prepared beef Bourguignon, took some cheese that was FedEx'd from France, some sparkling wine and a bottle of 2005 Chinon for friends on Saturday. On Sunday, more "Madness", a home baked organically raised smoked ham and sides, with a bottle of 2002 Foley-Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir for the two of us. A good time was had by all!

Cool video, makes me want to go see a vineyard since we've never been to one. Not a whole lot of vineyards in Montana. We had a great Easter weekend and hung out with Edie's family. Our 1 1/2 year old nephew was hilarious and kept us well entertained.

Dang, the weekend's over. Oh well, in Asheville last weekend, friends, family, wine, and Easter.
  • Cheese and wine is always good. This can only be topped if you have a woman in your lap...

Live in NC and going to Mt. Lakes for my 75th birthday, all my kids and grand kids will be there...close to the WL but don't have time for a visit. We will be drinking a fair amount of wine...the kids are buying.
  • I challenge you!!!

Let me choose a wine (I send Mott an email with the chosen one), and you blind-taste it on an laid-back-friday and after giving the score you are allowed to see it.

To be fair I can choose any wine at WL between 10 and 25 dollars.

    Deal?

This past weekend was nice - met up with some people in the city, saw a great movie, went to the union square farmer's market, had dinner at a korean place, got together with some friends on Sunday. Friends and family always make for a great weekend.
  • For anyone who hasn't seen it, Robert Scoble captured a great discussion between Gary, Kevin Rose, Tim Ferriss & the owner of DeLoach Winery... of which Gary seemed to steal the show, but it was a great "inside baseball" business discussion.

GV - Here's my review for the 2003 L'Oligocene - we just had another bottle tonite. Will probably get some 2004 for & do a blind tasting with friends for fun:
    2003 L'Oligocene . Just had another bottle this evening (Mar 23, 2008)
2 hrs decanted in the cellar - very old world, barnyard, mushrooms & a bit of hard boiled eggs on nose, earthy, smooth, a bit of sweetness, strawberries, red fruits & bacon mid-palete, a long finish but not a profoundly long finish, smooth tannins, lacks a focus point to take it that next level - something that captivates & fascinates that separates it from other wines (what I think of in a 95 pt or higher wine) very good, but not quite a 95 in my book, more like a 93 -still an exceptional value. (Looking fwd to trying the 2004)
