  • I was just reading other comments and they reminded me of another chenin blanc that i have tasted recently which is 1990 Aigle Blanc Vouvray $25, this would really stood out to me especially at first glance in the glass. Its got some age on it so in almost orange in color and has a powerful mouthfeel to me but I might be wrong i am 22 years old. Just thought I would leave 2 comments for this show. Im a new fan, wish i could say im an long time fan but i just discovered this website like 2 days ago. Good job and I will be using your scores and tasting notes in my store from now on, much better than parker for me.

Chris Sabo! love it. 1990 Reds wire to wire, sweep the world series against the A’s. we could use some more of that here in the ‘nati.

last Chenin, N. Joly Saviniers. I have no idea how to spell that without cheating. This one was different that even those 3. Petrol and pineapple, very full bodied.

Great show; thank you. I would leave a longer comment; but, leaving to find a Cederberg before the stores close.

QOTD: I haven’t had any bottles of Chenin Blanc at home, but we go to a wine shop that does tastings on Fridays and they’ve poured several South African Chenin Blancs in the past. They all struck me as just OK, or more towards the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc style, which is generally not my thing.

Oh, wait a minute. At the Charleston Food + Wine Festival this year, I went to a less common varietals seminar and they poured the Pine Ridge 2007 Chenin Blanc/Viognier. It was awesome. Canned pineapple syrup all day long.

  • Last CB was on a tour at Chapellet Winery last fall. If I remember right it was their last vintage, they had torn out the CB and planted more Chardonnay.

i am still trying to replicate my 1st chenin blanc experience…pine ridge, 1987… ahh… to remember.. it is a great wine & doesn’t over power, if the choices include something strong and dry, i will opt for the tap water, however, this little jewel has kept me in the loop !

Just had one before watching this episode! Sainsbury’s own Anjou, Loire Valley for £3.69! Actually very pleasant with sweet apple and pears with some nice grapefruit action going on – all in all a great cheap and cheerful glugger. (I like to watch shows when I’m drinking the same wine; i.e, drink merlot whilst watching your past episodes on merlot. It’s highly enjoyable! Anyway peace out and all that. Tom (UK’s biggest fan I must say).

Gary you got me into wine and I've been watching for 4 months now. I'm trying to read up on wine and trying to learn a lot. Sad that this is my first comment. First chenin blanc was actually today. The 1993 Baron Herzog Chenin Blanc found in my basement. It blew me away.

  • corkscrew

Have not had many of this varietal. QOTD-not sure.. http://www.winelx.com
