Sorry about the 1 for 3. I know how pumped you get to tell us about wines we either havent heard of or almost never drink. QOTD: Monty Python's Flying Circus. Its not even close. There was nothing like it at the time, and still nothing has been like it ( Sorry SNL, you jumped the shark YEARS ago and are quite predictable). The great sketches that ended at any time, the crazy cartoons, the all out randomness of it. Pure brilliance that's yet to be topped.

The is a really tough QOTD... I don't know if it is my favorite, but one that I can watch over and over is Seinfeld. I was really into sports center as a kid, and that of course has not changed much.
  • Michael H.
    QOTD: The Fall Guy.

Disappointed in 1 for 3 with the Barberas...
  • V Mellado
the dragon ball series and captain stubasa, an 80's japanese cartoon about soccer....there is a book in the bucket
  • SoCal
QOTD: All time favorite would have been any sci-fi...BSG, Buck Rodgers, Dr. Who, Star Trek.......
  • question83
The Wonder Years, no doubt! Great show!
  • Hola Gary. Tienes razon, aun no he probado un vino Barbera, pero lo hare pronto. Felicidades por el show!

Back from a relapse into lurkerdom!

As soon as I finish my impending move, I'll have to grab a bottle of Icardi; haven't had a Barbera in too long.

QoTD: Hard to narrow to just one ... Twin Peaks, My So-Called Life, The Office (the original U.K. series), and Riget come to mind.
  • Mike V
In the pumpkin? I am guessing a fourth generation wrist band!

    Send it my way, PLEASE! ;-}
  • Rob Csenar
    QOTD: M*A*S*H
  • Blake W
QOTD: HBO's Entourage for sure!!! in the bucket is a rick flair action figure!
  • subb
QOTD - Definitely Whose Line Is It Anyway. Man that gave me the best laughs of my life. That and Monty Python!
  • Matlatzinca
Crud, just noticed the last cork behind the 3rd bottle. I'm revising my guess to say it is the pen he used to sign the book.
Great Barbera episode, also one of my favorite grapes. Anyone try Barnard Griffin or Desert Hills? Both Washington, both awesome.
  • Matlatzinca
Only 2 wine corks on the table, so the last cork is in the pumpkin.
  • Andy
    QOTD--- Old school MASH

Probably Gary's favorite candy bar a whatamacallit
  • David
QOTD: That's a hard one, but in the end I'm going to go with the Simpsons.

That was a great show for my 20th birthday. Just one more year.
  • Favorite TV Show ever would have to be either Thundercats (for cartoons...it takes me back) or Highlander: The Series.
  • cma82
It's a trick, the pumpkin bucket has absolutely nothing in it.

I freaking love barbera. I've been rocking the barbera hard ever since I got a quartino of it at Otto at 19 with my fake id. It has great acidity, goes perfectly with food, and viable on a CKC budget--what's not to like.

QOTD: I don't really watch much tv. WLTV is much better.
  • J Crazy
Looney Toons hands down. I've been watching it since I was 5 years old waking up at six o'clock on Saturday to watch all the cartoons: Looney Toons, GI Joe, Mask, Tranzorzee (anyone remember Aphrodite A?!), Thunder Cats, He-Man/She-ra, Care Bears, Gummi Bears (bouncing here and there and eeeeverywhere...), etc. But even now, after the Simpsons, Prison Break, CSI: New York, Law and Order and all these other fantastic shows, Looney Toons alone can make me laugh and forget the life around me for 30 minutes and take me back to when I was still in "zip-up from the foot" one-piece pajamas sitting a nose length from the TV hoping my parents wouldn't hear the TV and tell me to shut it off so early in the morning.

    I love the Barbera, too!!
  • Dan-o
I like Barbera's and therefore this show was in the zone.
QOTD - Seinfeld by a mile, followed perhaps by All in the Family.
  • Sassodoro
In the pumpkin, well we all saw you put a copy of the book in the pumpkin. So there.

QOTD. I thought you were going to ask us for our all-time favorite Barbera. That would have been easier to answer. All-time favorite TV show? I'm not sure, but I'm a big fan of Battlestar Galactica.
  • J David
Barbera: I've picked it, fermented it and almost tossed it 2 months later. So acidic, so tart...this grape needs TIME. And, experience in the vinification. It's not economically viable for California vintners, so you don't see it often. But, when you do, and it's aged for a couple years in barrels with a moderate amount of oak, the wine is a great late afternoon pleasure in warm weather. It's definitely a 'red' with all the fruit and tannics, but it's also acidic and thirst-quenching enough for a picnic. Enjoy this 'summer red,' as the Italians do.
  • GREAT barb show all these cool grape variatials on the show of late keep it going.
RE: your last e-mail still looking in LV!
  • Henry Hlavaty
    Gary,
In the pumpkin, pumpkin seeds of course.

    Thanks for the shows.

Pizza tonight--gonna track down some Barbera.

QOTD: Seinfeld. Period. End of story.
  • TWalk
    Scooby Dooby Doo...Where Are You?
  • ChrisR
I'll leave a comment just b/c you mentioned Dave Winfield. Yay, Dave Winfield!!

QOTD: Dinosaurs. Kind of creepy with the puppet thing, but a damn funny show.
  • Fraser Gould
In the bucket: A Japanese daruma doll.
  • Bernard
qotd: All in the Family rules you meatheads.
  • David Cole
I like it, Barbera!! One of my favorites, when you get a chance try some California ones from the Amador, Fair Play and El Dorado County areas, there are some great values in these areas!

I really like that you will be trying stuff that is more available. And you are right, Barbera vs Chianti is a no brainer, Barbarea all day long and twice on Sunday!

Hey, Dave Winfield was a STUD! I just saw him on a show and he is still in shape! I like that you pulled that out, I was a fan of his!

QOTD: I'm going old school since you said all-time! Two shows, Big Valley and The BIonic Man!! It's just funny that Lee Majors was in both of them.
  • TxBigD
What's in the bucket? The one missing cork!
  • ScottG
QOTD: So many good shows, but Northern Exposure is my all-time favorite.
In the pumpkin...a plane ticket to Newark?
  • Grapedigger
Great show G. Very good idea to concentrate on widely available wines!! My favorite all time show is for sure SEINFELD! My current best show is also a comedy, Two & a 1/2 men! Cheers..
  • Hey GV,

Great show. I love it when you take the show in different directions. I've only had one Barbera to date so it looks like it's time to revisit and get another opinion.

Can't wait to see you when you visit Boston for the book tour. My advice? Do it at the Borders downtown. You'll absolutely draw a big crowd.

QOTD - Hands down SEINFELD. Not only did my family and I watch it while it was on, we bought all of the DVD's and I swear on my future children that we watch at least 2 episodes per night.
  • Mason
I think you have one of the corks in there. I only count 2 on the table that I can see.

QOTD: Favorite show of all time: Cheers.
  • Juicy Jesse
qotd: Star Trek (original); What's in the Jack-O-Lantern? A thunder cat, of course!
  • Sheina
QTD: My favorite television series ever is "Nip Tuck".

In the pumpkin...Thunder! One of your action figure characters.
  • OmarG
I'm going to say...really really old Halloween candy in the bucket.

QOTD: Any Yankee game on...ok not a show.
  • Jason S.
    QOTD: Twin Peaks

I think there's a thundercat in the pumpkin
  • victor
big-league chew in the bucket and qotd - Get Smart.
