Passionfish seems to have an awesome and well priced wine list. You could do some short shows from list you find online. I was blown away buy this one. I only heard about it on the Mark Squire’s bulletin board. Great discussion on overpriced winelists.

Great show. Love the concept even though Im way over in Seattle. Still its nice to get some info from you on wine lists. Thats always a help when you walk into a place and they’ve got a 20 page or more list. QOTD: Asking the wrong dude. Besides its a year late anyway :( I always seem to be late to the game. Even today Id have no clue what the new hot wine of the moment is. Its why I watch Gary! He leads me to the promised land!

QOTD: Viognier, no doubt about it. There are some producers who make their viognier as “just a small hop from Chardonnay”, but there’s so much potential for acidity, aromatics, and complexity to move to from there… def Viognier. Although being difficult for the average joe to pronounce makes it tougher.

Gary, definitely a style of show thats engaging and could be used more. I’d kind of torn because in many ways I want you to review that list without the som there and tell us whats good, sucks, too expensive etc. but in other ways that dude today was really good and I enjoyed hearing his toughts. I’m on the fence. QOTD: I thought Gruner was still the cool wine, I guess I’m behind. thanks, Greg

Great show, love this format type and look forward to seeing more.

QOTD – I’d love to see more Spanish Verdejo from Rueda, but I think the Riesling revolution is just going to get bigger and bigger.

Nice menu. I don’t even know any places in Dublin with one like that.

Interesting show, but I think I’m dizzy. Could we get someone to operate the camera that moves a bit slower please?

    QOTD: Viognier

BTW, I met Alain Graillot in Croze Hermitage back in June and he is THE MAN. His son is doing some excellent work as well. And we even tasted the Moroccan wine and it was quite good, as Jessie says, and a great value as well.

    Interesting Idea

QOTD – well I’ve got no idea what’s “hot” in New York (and don’t really care), but if I had to guess I’d say good old fashioned, oldschool sherry

    Cheers

Ohhhhhhh…I’m a little dizzy, but I did enjoy this show. My niece lives in Hoboken…we make a trek to visit her and NYC fairly regularly. We’ll have to note this restaurant and stop in (not too far from the Wine Library, either, eh?). Sounds lovely.

Excellent idea, but the to-and-fro of the camera was dizzy!

The new white .. Xinisteri – a grape variety here in Cyprus which is very nice.

NOLITA? north of something? that is kind of where the Manhattan & Williamsburg Bridges hit the city right?

QotD: has to be Riesling, one day this wine must take the forefront of our white wine world.

QOTD— For value and taste for the summer … I have been enjoying the white wines from San Gimignano (Vernaccia).

Great idea Gary. You should turn your aim on some of the steakhouses in NYC and shame them into lowering their prices! It would be a great idea to do this for a while and then compile your favortie lists in NYC, San Fran when you get out, etc.

Definitely a great twist on the show.

Solid score for a resty wine list. I usually want to pull my hair out looking at the mark-up.

Great show. Just booked a trip to NYC for Oct…I will be sure to drop in..love the wine list!
QOTD: I have been enjoying xarel-lo this summer :-)

QOTD- well my friend, i think the Assyrtiko from greece(santorini) is the next big thing

    what do you think ???

Really liked this idea Gary; yet another innovation on WLTV. One thing I’ve found since watching your show is I find wine lists much less intimidating because I know about the wines, and more fun because I can even spot values I might not have before. QOTD: No idea really…probably whatever GV decides it will be :-) I had a Verdicchio not too long ago that really impressed me…let’s go with that!

QOTD: I’m also going with Albarino – terrific grape, and good value, as is common with Spanish wines.

Nice concept for future eps – like the wine list review idea.

    Really good show!
I like the idea of reviewing wine lists.
Good guest also – seemed very in tune.

QOTD – GV, you are trying to get Albarino on the scene – I am a big fan of this.

QOTD: Macabeo, Parellada or Xarel-lo have a shot at the next hot white wine — or as a blend.

Rocker of dudes, AWESOME idea. Wine lists, and in partiucular by the glass, are just brutal sometimes. On your travels this can really make a difference if you are brutally honest. Getting a good glass of grape by the glass in middle America can be a challenge outside of the major cities. YOU are making a difference, maybe with a little bit ame with the encouragement.

Bring the Thunder to the wine lists.

Great show Gary and great concept! Jesse was an strong first guest.

I’d agree with many of the comments re: not being able to see the wine list on the camera. How about scanning the list to PDF or similar and linking it up and mentioning it right towards the start of the show so that viewers can have it open in a separate window while they watch the show? This will remove the need to pan to the list back and forth and just keep it focused on yourself, the guest and the restaurant.

    Keep up the great work!
