  • Gary, growing up I was HUGE freak for flea markets. I was in love with Flea markets, but I'm a huge lover of history, and that's really what flea markets are all about, and I could not get enough.
  • So that's Brandon, great guy, helped me out on my last order, gave me a great deal beating out the competitors. Lovely man, the kind of guy you'd love to9 have a drink with.

    Winelibrary for the win.
  • Time to make you feel slightly older. Brant Brown dropped the ball on the second to last day in the 1998 season, or maybe it was the last day of the season 1998. Regardless, it hurts still. We won the one game playoff game against the Giants, but the playoffs didn't treat us kindly. Saw a good 14-inning game that May against those same Giants, we won. I ended up on the first row behind the Visitors Dugout because everyone else was going to watch the Bulls game that day in May. Remember Mickey Morandini anyone? Oh, the memories.

New all time favorite episode. Brandon and Bobby seem like a pair of great guys. Youre very lucky to have them in your life. Lots of great stories. Gary it seems you were quite the dealmaker in your youth. Ever think about doing some deals with Donald Trump? You could be rolling in a billion by the time you hit 40! QOTD: Not a holiday over this weekend, but I might pop a dessert wine to guzzle.

We went to the Penn State game Labor Day weekend. No wine until we got home on Sunday. BBQ Sunday and Monday with friends and wine.

This is what the show is all about...I had a smile on my face the whole time! Just awesome!
  • GREAT stuff!

qotd: mai tais and zombies in hawaii.

Great show. I feel that real wealth is measured in honest and supportive good friends. It would appear to me, Gary, that you are truly wealthy.
  • Hey very intersting show, enjoyed listening to a bit of banter.

QOTD: we didn't have a holiday in HK, but on the weekend I drunk:
    - Metcalf Valley Sav Blanc (tiny production from Central Victoria in Aus, mates vineyard and a surprisingly good wine)
    - A very average and over priced Cote du Rhone at a restaurant
    - Monte da Casta Vinho Regional Ribatejano 2004 (very smooth little Portugese number that's worth seeking out)

    Cheers
    Andrew

Wundershoen! This show was rockin'! Good to have good friends on the show! I love to see that Gary and friends are makin' wine. Happy Labour Day to all blue collars!

I spent my week-end in Magog, QC. at the Fête des Vendanges 15th anniversary. Loads of fun. The red wine from Québec sucks but there is potential in the whites and the rosés especially from the Cep d'Argent and the Orpailleur. Gary should do a show on wines from Québec, Canada.

I've been drinking some Dolcettos from the Dogliani as well as Vinho Verde from Portugual, as well as Chateau Eugénie from Cahors. Good stuff!

    Great show!

Gary, great show and a lot of fun. QOTD : I spent the weekend in wine country outside Portland drinking some yummy local juice. Highlights being pinot from Lemelson, Domaine Serene, Scott Paul and Archery Summit. Enjoyed some wines at the Carlton Winemaker's Studio. FYI a producer you liked out of the CWS, Bodecker, is rumored to be moving production out, into NW Portland; so it might be a good place to stop if you can't get outside town next time you are here. Also was thinking of you at the Tyrus Evan tasting room talking with a real knowledgeable gentleman about the 100% p.v. wines starting to appear out of eastern Washington and also how great cab franc is taking to that region. So on your recommendation, and also my natural inclination, I spent the weekend expanding my palate with people I love, taking advantage of industry discount.
let me know if you need any food suggestions in p-town,
    josh

I'm a bit late with this, but I loved this episode. Don't get me wrong, I can only handle this type of show about once every couple months, but it was an epic classic! Neat wines, especially the merlot!

QOTD: Finishing up the oaky reds that I bought when I first got into wine (I was also into bourbon, and loved that oak... now I can't stand it!)
  • Great show!

Someone probably already answered the cousin question but I'll put in my 2 cents. Gary and Bobby are second cousins. Bobby's dad and Gary are 1st cousins once removed. The once removed means they're removed by a generation. (So Bobby and Gary's dad are also 1st cousins once removed).

    cool episode
  • AWESOME SHOW! Fun to watch. QOTD: nada, I spent the weekend chillin out with my family and recovering from all the summer drinking. Gotta get back into school mode for the little ones.
  • Those trips down memory lane are always fun.

QOTD: I wish I could remember the name, but the 2005 Bourdeaux that I had was awful. Oh well...
  • Stephanie from So CA
GV - what a fun episode! Thanks for all you do for us :-)
QOTD: Found my wedding ring I lost a month ago so we celebrated all weekend with lots of "J" and family. Oh and a margarita Machine for those who couldn't handle the bubbles. LOL
  • Marshall
I think this show needs 100 comments

    Fantastic episode.

Thanks for giving me a shout out for my 40th birthday - not expecting that at all - you did kill the name though :-)

    Family above all !
  • Too bad those of us in Stupid-shipping-laws-achussts can't get your house label. QOTD - Opened some nice Bordx this past weekend - the highlight being Ch. Bonalgue - oh my!
  • JayZee
Nice to see Bobby and Brandon (I get enough e-mails from Brandon that I think I'm related to him). :-)

QOTD: We didn't do too much for a change on the long weekend. Went to the Tribe game on Saturday (no wine), went to dinner on Sunday with my sister to Bravo! (chain Italian restaurant) and had a 2006 bottle of a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo which was actually pretty good with the Italian fare. Monday we went to see "Bottle Shock" and for dinner opened a bottle of 2005 Valderiz red that was pretty darn good with the Mexican BBQ ribs that we made.
  • Andrew
QOTD: Spend the weekend at the beach Club with close froends and enjoying Jules Cotes Du Provence Rose 07 per Brant's suggestion. we really enjoyed it with meals and alone.
  • Phil G
    That was fun, thanks.

QOTD - this last weekend was more of a beer event, no wine...
  • J Crazy
Drank beer and sake at one of the most awesomest festivals in Japan! Of course, with my awesome friends.
  • Ken T
Great show. The stories are great. I agree with Bobby that Brown Zin is my favorite as well.
  • cgatesman
    Gotta love reminiscing back...
  • Hey you wine buffs great show so upbeat and very interesting ... Ive been a fan of red wines for years now and always side stepped white wines simple because they seemed to effect my stomach like as in acid stomach so my style was to get over this girlie kinda mind-set so I set about beating the obvious by treating my wine habit like a true boozer

I started to buy white wines chardonnay and sauvignon blanc and the likes but I also had a bottle of white dessert wine and then ad a little to the chardonnay and the others slowly adding less once I got the taste and my stomach was used to the cold tangy flavorer's now I can drink red and white straight with no sider effects except for the rewards wine gives all who understand the true value classy wines bring to the table of good taste ... thanks for sharing your knowledge lads ...

Grrrrreat show be back soon hic hic

All my best to you and your wine tastings

QOTD: Had a great holiday weekend tasting Santa Rita Hills, Santa Ynez, and Santa Maria wines. Decided to stop being a lurker to give a shout-out to La Vie vineyards, had some excellent Pinot Noirs. Would love to see a Lompoc "wine ghetto" battle royal (perhaps Sea Smoke, Fiddlehead, La Vie?) to show off what cooperative/innovative winemaking can do.

Craziest(good) taste of the weekend: Kenneth Volk Cabernet Pfeffer.
  • EPIC.
    Great show - hilarious stuff.
