His wine seems good, but I personally couldn’t have spent 45 minutes with him. Will check out K vinters on Gary’s recommendation and not think about this dude’s feet.

Very nice to see and hear the man behind the wines at K. I have been slowly collecting some of his wines (and have consumed some of the 10 bone Magnificent Wine Company Bordeaux blend, which was a great QPR).

    Need ….. more ….. K !!!!!

Gary wants a girl with a short skirt and a looooooooong jacket!

With fingernails, that shine like justice!
… and a voice that is dark, like tinted glass,
She is fast, and thorough, and sharp as a tack -
She is touring the facility, and picking up slack!

Gary wants a girl with a short skirt and a looooooong jacket!

Mr Smith really got the point. He makes wines thinking to the people who drink it, so winemaking become a form of expression. big ups to Mr smith! And many thanks to Gary for the opportunity to knowing him.

Very good show gary and charles. SUPER informative and was exactly what i needed right now. I am actually really happy because i saw the little haiku on charles in wine and spirits ( Wine Dictator is not cool enough to do such a write up) this summer and i really wanted to check more out. gary you are on the Ball. I think besides the honesty of the person and the wine ( have not tasted it but from your comments) i really appreciate the openess of his approach. it is like an artist who makes paintings, some sculpture and maybe a video piece when need be. He is making reisling, cab, syrah, malbec and not just pinot, or not just cab + merlot. I really appreciate that. plus it seems that he is making small batches of wine so it is i assume managed well. as we all know, it is all about management.

QOTD, when i come to washington state, i am there dude

*********PSSSSSSSSSS gary, i have been meaning to e mail you and this is a good moment. the cab syrah issue. i saw that you have Domaine du trevallon, 2001 in stock 50/50 cab syrah…… you gotta bring it on the thunder show for a little tasty taste. PALEEEEEEEZE!

great show again, bravo x 2

best WLT ever!!!! Love Walla Walla, my favorite region in America. was hanging out with Va Piano and Grammercy this past summer and really wanted to hit up K. Run a wine program and the Kung Fu Girl, their Milbrant Syrah, Creator, the Boy are all on my list. Will add the 06 Ovide after your suggestion. Thanks for the kick ass show and hopefully maybe I can convince Mr. Shaw to visit my place and do a tasting with some regulars. Thanks again for the great show.

Great show, and quite a fun guest. But, I must add my thoughts. A twenty dollar Cabernet that is “smooth” and “easy to drink”? Sorry, but that wine exists for five bucks a bottle, or less. Words like “smooth” and “easy drinking” are the buzz words of cheap wine. I, for one, would NOT be happy to have that Cabernet by the glass at a wine bar or restaurant. I enjoy being challenged by wine, and actually rather prefer it. I can have “smooth, easy drinking wine” the next time I go to a friend’s house who doesn’t know squat about wine.

Walla Walla is a spectacular place to visit. World class wines without the attitude of Napa/Sonoma.
Charles Smith is a fun character to taste with as well. Great show!

Usually a lurker but I had to come out for this episode. Hands down, one of the most fun episodes of WLTV in a while! Charles’ passion for making wine really shines through. Great job on the show Gary!

My hubby and I just visited K Vintners’ tasting room in Walla Walla. The wines were wonderful, and the atmosphere is super fun. Now I want to head downstairs to open up The Creator, which was full of veggies and dark fruit and made me very happy. :)

Fantastic episode. Gary, it felt like you were maybe scoring the wines one point higher than you believed they were. Or maybe you were learning each wine’s amazing story and that helped them garner the extra point.
Charles, you can count on me visiting your winery next time I’m in the Northwest. It’s not very often I see someone match Gary’s passion for life… or wine. I hope Gary has you on again. I’d love to see you do a tasting of other people’s wines.

QOTD: How we all fit into that little camera of Motts – two words for you. Quantum Superposition. Yes. Or.. something.

Anyway, great show. I hope to make it up to Washington at some point. That would be really awesome.
Great show, keep up the great work.
