A blessed swedish vodka on Air France. Perfect for plane fright. Just one little vodka, unfortunately.

best wine I had on a plane was a Treana, which is a CA red blend. Can’t remember the vintage.

GV, great little show – I liked the airborne Thunder Show. :-)

Props to trying the Vendange, which is certainly an inexpensive play that is widely available. And, yes, it is generally pretty bad.

QOTD: On my last flight from Geneva, Switzerland, I had a 2006 Corbieres (I don’t recall the producer) that was actually pretty darn good with the roast beef they served. I gave it an 88.

Had an ‘07 Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel on Continental flight from Newark to Hong Kong. Twas well balanced, amazing and excellent to experience especially on a long flight.(and I don’t usually like Zin…) Kudos Continental.

Soy Bean Milk on Singapore Airlines Business Class. I don’t bother with the wines they never taste as good in the air anyway. :P

Gary. My wife and I are newbies in the wine world. Just saw your airplane episode. I fly for Southwest and loved this show. (as well as the rest of the shows.) I live 60 miles south of Houston and you have tickets waiting anytime you want to come down.

I miss the shorter episodes GV, I really like the one wine review with some background, my ADHD kicks in when the video is over 10 min! QOTD: Nobilo Savi on an Air Fiji flight!

Yes,California wines always too oaky and make-up,but you know most people may not be experience enough a good wine in earth, while in high altitude, sensory becames retarded,it is more difficult to distinguish a wine than in earth level.Even one time tasted a Beaucastel cdp, seems smaller body.it is not good to taste wine in hi altitude I think.

GV – as I said in my last comment on the hotel episode, boy have I lived that experience.
I used to travel a lot to Europe in Business Class and the wines were getting worse and worse through the years, and so….
QOTD – the only memorable wine would be a White Burgundy on an International flight that i really enjoyed – although I do not remember the name.

    Great “off-the-cuff” wine show today.
QOTD: When you are in Cambridge, UK – look me up, I’d love to have a tasting with you in my 15th century wine cellar!

Just come back from Vinitaly wine fair in Verona and was devastated by the news of the earthquake…my heart and prayers go out to all those in central Italy exposed to this disaster – especially those who make great wine in this beautiful part of Italy.

Love it! Glad there wasn’t a Fruit Bomb involved – that could have been dangerous! About wine on planes – Wine in Coach sucks. Wine in First Class is fairly decent and free. Why won’t they sell the wine from First Class in Coach? I’d pay for it!!! (I realize there is no First Class in Southwest) I hate flying, and a glass of wine calms the nerves. I cannot drink Vendange. Ick.

That is so awesome that you fly Southwest like a real person and not some other airline in First Class only! GaryVee – KEEPIN’ IT REAL!!!

Speaking of Southwest & Vegas, gotta go pick up my niece at the St. Louis airport in 30 minutes. She is visiting from Vegas for Spring Break and flying Southwest, of course, and has – on her own – since she was 6.

    Peace out!!!

QOTD: A 2002 Meursault “les Casse Tetes” VV from D. Hubert Chavy. It was a bottle we opened earlier in afternoon, and we snuck it on a flight from JFK to SFO. Best airplane wine EVER.

I’m compelled to answer the question of the day although I’m cheating a bit. It wasn’t on a plane but a train through Italy and it was definitely an unforgettable moment in my introduction to wine. I was studying abroad in Italy and was on a train to Spain I think it was . . . anyway, the wine that was available on board was Santa Cristina, San Giovese. I have no idea of the vintage (it was ‘99 at the time) but wow, what a delicious wine. The beginning of a long and (generally) beautiful relationship. I must have been 19 or 20 at the time?

I got my first bottles from the wine TV club today. Yey!

HAHAHA this episode is awesome. I love when the nuts hit the laptop and Gary says oh crap i just ruined my laptop lolz.

    QOTD:
    -A bloody mary :)

    hilarious episode, Gary

QOTD: beer and peanuts, baby. since the majority of the flying i’ve done is between the US and Tokyo, i’m talking Asahi, Kirin and Sapporo. What Japanese lager beer lacks in variety it makes up for in consistency.

I’ve fallen behind on viewing WLTV just because I don’t have as much free time and a crappy Internet connection, but I loved this episode.

I’ve had that same “glass” of wine on a SWA flight, which is usually while I opt for bourbon & soda or a bloody Mary. I have several customers who are flight attendants (a few for SWA) Its amazing the enthusiasm that flight attendants have for good wines; and we almost always joke about the selections available for passengers.

Loved the show, reminds me of a lot of my life!

QOTD – A few free upgrades to KLM Busines sclass and the wines get better, but if I ever see another “Terra Andina” from Chile I’ll scream! Have to agree with Laura, Air France as a rule is best, even in economy you get some half-decent drink, and the business lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle has a nice mix of whites!

Great show, Gary! Like the ‘on the move’ format. For longer flights, I go with coffee/decaf and Baileys, for shorter flights within or close to Texas, it’s Club Soda and lime or lemon, especially in the hot summer months.
