Guests seemed pretty cool, although the wines were not.
QOTD1 - I am a hockey fan, therefore no marketing for me. Go Canes!
QOTD2 - drinking in a cold arena is not my bag.
  • yowens
Cool dudes. QOTD: 1. Already huge into hockey 2. I.C. Light (Go Pens!)
  • rowland
dude what is the kirsh royal?

wo wo wo lets just nip this in the bud ... i will not except "nathan the intern" as a sub for the real Gary Vee.

lol remember ninja turtles III the movie where they go back in time to medieval japan? "awwwww Hooook ayyyyyyyyyyyy!"
  • rowland
yyea garry i love the guests, always. your show really is a forum to expand pallets and broaden the wine world ... awesome.
  • QOTD1: Hockey fan, but...fire Gary Bettman ASAP
    QOTD2: Mineral water
  • innA
Quite a boring show for me - just didn't feel like the wines were the focus on the show.

QOTD - never gone to a hockey game
  • Brian Johnson
    Gary,
    Good show.

QOTD 1: I was a big Blues fan in high school and now with work and limited free time it is hard to follow all the sports so I just stick to baseball and football now.
QOTD 2: My beverage of choice at any sporting event is an ice cold beer. As long as it is not Miller, Coors, or Budweiser.
  • One of the best shows yet, Gary. The Nadeau brothers are Stars in this part of Canada. I am sure there will be tons of new followers to your blog from Eastern Canada following this show.
    Cheers,
    Ajay
  • Jerry
    Gary,

Lead wine tours in the Dry Creek Valley. Love hockey and wine....keep it up!
  • qotd1: fire bettman hah

qotd2: everything is two expensive so I generally drnik nothing. just like the movie no pop no popcorn just a movie
  • Jim in Atlanta
I am not a big hockey fan and have only been to 2 games in Atlanta. I did enjoy them because they seem a lot faster and rougher in person than on TV. So I guess hockey needs to get more of us to attend games because watching on TV is not making me a fan. I would probably drink beer at a hockey game.
  • clintster
i am a big hockey fan go Hurricanes. Number one drink at the game would be a cold beer
  • YoungDave
QOTD 2: Watching hockey at an arena reminds me of when I was a little kid when I went to more hockey games with my family, so I have to have a hot chocolate!
  • Excellent Job fellas!
  • QOTD1: MORE FIGHTS!!! Seriously, hockey is the best sport in the world, with the possible exception of Steelers' football.

QOTD2: Alexander Keith's, no question. Why the he** don't they export it to the states?

Awesome show GV - cool guys.

1999 1st game of Jets season you cried....maybe you cried because in that game against the PATRIOTS Testaverde blew out his achilles and they did end of losing....But you did not cry because they lost to the 49rs on a 90 yard run or whatever...as that is not possible. Keepin it real.

QOTD 1: I used to be a HUGE hockey fan, but the NHL lost me in the 2000's with the sloppy play, the ineffective rule changes, the expansion, and then the lockout. To get me back? First, fire Bettman and bring someone competent in would go a LONG way. Second, contract 4-6 teams. The last round of expansion should never have happened because the talent is just absurdly diluted now. The NHL needs to reverse out that error. Third, move a couple teams back to Canada. There's no reason Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Quebec shouldn't have teams. Finally, reduce the goalie pads to what they were back in the 80's and 70's. That, more than anything, will give scoring chances the excitement they deserve.

QOTD 2: Good beer or Diet Coke.
  • Megan
Loved this episode, like one commenter said, felt like I was hanging out with friends tasting wine and talking sports.

QOTD1: Figure out a way to make winter sports popular and relevant in the South. Hockey just doesn't do well in the hot and humid southwestern Tennessee!!

QOTD2: At Tennessee Titans games I love getting a Blue Moon complete with an orange slice. (I'm girly when it comes to beer - I'm mostly a wine girl.)
  • ex-lurkdawg
To be frank, I'm not a sports fan at all and did not like this episode. I thought the guests were more interested in self-promotion than wine. I can't answer either of the QOTD's.
  • M
QOTD1: I'm a hockey fan. Go Ducks. Seems like there are fewer hockey fans than I recall years ago. The games are on odd channels (Versus....spell?).

QOTD2: I'll get one expensive beer at a game. Hopefully a premium brand is available.
  • Dick M
Gary: Love'd the brotherly love! This episode felt like sitting around with a few friends drinking wine and talkin' shizzzz! Another winner!

QOTD1: Money ruins the sport. Go Amerks!
QOTD2: Beer, beer and more beer!
  • ben from boston
Bruins loss was devastating. Worst Boston sports event since the Knee injury that shall remain nameless.

qotd1- the rule changes and the new stars have brought me back from apathy. Also the new Boston GM and coaching duo.

    qotd2- Beer, something local.
  • Wow, these boys grew up just a few hours from me... I'm a Miramichi native myself, have an uncle that lives in SJ, NB. Poor bastards have to deal with NBLC to get their wine.. My brother has to contend with it, he hates it, costs too much and limited availability. Dude on the right reminds me of a cross behind Sean Avery and Ty Domi.

My younger brother was a Canadiens fan... I basically rooted for whoever was playing them Saturday night on Hockey Night in Canada... My dad was a Leafs fan, so I took the same approach :-) ... I was a Calgary Flames fan growing up, then turned to full blown Pens fan when I moved to Pittsburgh.. Did I mention we just won the Cup!!! GO PENS!!

QOTD #1: Huge hockey fan, so question one doesn't apply

QOTD #2: I stick to diet coke at the game.
  • Jayhitek
    Funny episode. Good guests Aye.
    QOTD1: Go Bruins!
QOTD2: Any kind of sporting event has to be beer. It's the only think that goes great with sausages, hotdogs, peanuts, popcorn, pretzels. Except the new Garden - TD Bank North does offer a lot in mixed drinks and fancy foods.. So.. Jack and Coke? If I got a plastic cup of wine at a Bruins game I would get the crap kicked out of me. Rightfully so.
  • Kirk
What a great show...I really liked the guests they have good humor and were a nice change from the "norm". As for the

QOTD#1: I think that if tickets were not as expensive, or if concessions were not as expensive I would probably pay attention more to the sport. I went to the first two play off games in Canada back in 2008 and the third game in Boston with an uncle. It was a great time...but his cost to such an event was beyond what I could or would spend my own money on. So if the cost was lower, I would be more likely to go to games...if I went to more games I would be more likely to follow the games I miss on TV....but I don't own a TV. Maybe if the entire games were available for streeming and free download I would be more likely to follow the sport...just a few thoughts.

QOTD#2: I will usually look for a beer like Sam Adams, Newcastel, or Heineken....
  • JayZee
Rather "meh" show, for me. No real theme other than "two hockey fans from Canada pick random wines".

QOTD 1: I am not really a hockey fan, but I do often watch some of the play-off games. I have to admit they can be pretty exciting. If you wanted to get me to be a hockey fan, put an NHL team in Cleveland where I live.

QOTD 2: Doesn't really apply, since I don't go to hockey games, but I imagine it would be a beer - probably Labatt's.
  • Nice show GV!

Those bros act a lot like me and my bro! Like you an AJ as well.
That Argentinean Malbec must be the best of the 2 reds.
There is another black label Punto Final in my cellar, I’m going to have a go soon, must be a good wine too.

If you like Argentinean Malbec, you should try the Yacochuya 2004 (90% Malbec, 10% Cab), one of the best Malbecs I had in my life. And it’s not from Mendoza, but from the very high altitude province of Salta. It’s gonna Crush It! :)

    QOTD1: Not available. :(
QOTD2: In football matches down here, a cold beer.

    Best wishes,

    Mauricio Fernandes.

QOtD#1 The Stars do a great job of making games accessible. Great prices & pkg deals which makes it easy to bring the kids. Regularly posted schedules and radio ads remind me to buy my tickets.

QOtD#2 I like to drink Shiner Bock, great TX beer!
  • Hey Gary - great to meet you last night (me=chick in the red hat) at Lucky Strike, it was a pleasure. Congratulations on a great appearance.

QOTD 1: I would definitely watch more hockey if all games were as exciting as game 7 was last week. Loved it.

QOTD 2: Blue Moon is my current beer of choice whenever I'm in a beer-drinking mood, which tends to be the case at sporting events.
  • Brock
That's embarrassing, apparently I'm smiley-face happy this morning...
  • Brock
Awesome show Gary, I enjoyed the light banter between the brothers. Reminded me a bit of myself and my younger brother :)

QOTD 1: Being Canadian you're just expected to love hockey (I actually am a bigger baseball fan), but I would definitely be interested in watching your show if you did interviews with past hockey legends, current "up-and-coming" stars (even OHL kids - I train a couple) and even hockey announcers, writers, agents, and trainers (I'd be interested in being a guest :)

Could an episode #100 Goal be to interview Don Cherry? :)

QOTD 2: I would drink wine at a hockey game if there were choices other than over-priced crap (yellowtail). Creemore Springs Lager at the Leafs game is about the only beer I can justify paying $15 a pint for.
  • Thanks Guys

QOTD 1: I live in the tropics; ice-hockey is unfortunately not an option in Hong Kong.
QOTD 2: If I ever went it would probably be (decent) coffee and then a beer.

    Cheers
    Andrew
  • not a fan
Wow this guy is so annoying, I can't believe this site is in google's top ten results, people actually watch this guy?
  • castello
Lurkers come out and play. You know Gary likes numbers. Lets hear some chatter!
Good show, Hockey, bad wine. What else could we ask for.
Great QOTD. Bad light beer for 10 bones, 20 for parking and if your team wins you might get lucky.
  • pawncop
Good show and love the information.

QOTD #1 - Hockey lost me after the strike. If managment and players are so greedy, they do not need my money.

QOTD #2 - N/A but I do love a cold Coors beer at the Ball Park in Arlington, Texas when the Texas Rangers play.
  • QOTD 1 - They would have to find a way to make the entire season as exciting as the playoffs. Otherwise there's just too much going on in all my other favorite sports (football, basketball, european soccer, baseball) for me to try and follow hockey. I try to dive in once the playoffs start though, Go Ducks!

QOTD 2 - Nothing beats an ice cold Diet Canada Dry!
  • Andy
QOTD #1 Put more hockey games on TV .......

QOTD #2 Cold draft beer - (a craft beer if they have it)

    Great ep G .....
  • They make wine in Canada :) Love hockey though!
  • QOTD: I'm male, Canadian, and love pond hockey but hate watching a bunch of millionaires play it. If they want me to give a crap, the economics would have to not exist, which will basically never happen.

QOTD2: I've been to a few games on others' dime, and I'm too damn cheap to pay $8 for a glass of shitty beer.
  • IPv6Freely
