Gary – Golden raspberries exist! They’re similar to golden beets – they’re as white as white wine.

Interesting show! I can’t recall ever having a Gavi before, but I will soon.

QOTD – God is under-rated in today’s world.

YES! GAVI!! Thank you for showcasing one of my favorite white wines, sir…

QOTD: Improv. I think that Improv Comedy Theatre is one of the most challenging and most entertaining forms of performance, and I think that EVERYONE should go seek out some local Improv shows to appreciate what is out there. Second City LA!!!

QotD – Policemen/women in America today, are underrated. And sadly, underpaid.
Basic primary education in America. The right to affordable healthcare in America.
Exercise, and a healthy diet are underrated.

And yes, not only Gavi/Cortese, but numerous Italian White Varietals, like Falanghina, Inzolia, Grillo, Arneis, and Moschofilero, to name a few of the tastier ones.

Good episode, Looking forward to trying the wine.
    Character is under rated

Maybe the “white berry” smell you were trying to pinpoint is white cranberry? White cranberry juice is really yummy–it’s usually a blend with peach. When you glanced over at your phone, I realized that you have the same kind of phones as my office. Have you ever tried to transfer a call on one of those? Confusing. I tried to watch this episode a while back, but the echo in the room made it hard to hear. I tried it again today and made it through. Good episode; it made me curious about gavi wines and the cortese grape. I’ve been using the Wine Century Club application as my guide to trying new grape varities. Cortese is now on my list. Thanks for doing making these shows!

    Gary,

Just thought I’d let you know that your show is inspiring and so are you. I hope to meet you someday. You made a cameo appearance – rather this show did on a little video I just made this morning – http://www.benspark.com/motivated-by-murphy.html

Hey yo…… I always like more light white wine options. I love S. Blancs from New Zealand for their big grapefruit and affordability, nice to get some other Italian options that are affordable and fruit-forward.

What do I think is under rated? I agree with you, Italian white wines. You always hear about the giant Barolos and Brunellos, so it is nice when Italy’s quality whites get some props!

Thank you for taking the time to share with us GV. Peace and quiet are under appreciated in my opinion. A day of rest and reflection are invaluable from time to time.

Liked the episode, but a little scary – Skeletor was staring at me for half of the episode.

QOTD: Being a good husband is underrated.

Q-O-Yesterday: Flight Attendants. You need a better backdrop at Vaynermedia maybe you could sit in front of a map or something. No Jets bucket? Man the show is going downhill.

QOTD: I cant think of anything at the moment. Lots of other good suggestions here.

    Gary,

You are a nut man. Your energy is contagious. Must be form all the wine you drink.

Thanks for the show Gary, I’m a fan of the gavi myself.

QOTD: good question. I think a lot of things are underrated…even life itself seems to be underrated at times. Not to be a downer, but sometimes it’s hard to remember how cool it is to be able to sit around and watch some dude describe the taste of grape juice.

Just had a Cortese with sauteed scallops and cod cakes the other night, with fresh greens from the garden…a beautiful combo…

Gary, take care of that knee…I hope you iced the crap out of it after the trauma…aggressively over the first 48hrs post injury. And, if you are on it a lot more than you should be, more intermittent icing is a good idea (RICE method – rest, ice , compression, elevation). Heat if it stiff after non-use, cold if it swells after using it. Aggressive care early on shortens the healing time man. We need you in the game.

QOTD: sitting quietly at night and looking up at the stars

    Hey Gary,

    very interestingt and informative show!!

QOTD: I think german Pinot Noirs are underated. Also I just came back from the Guadalupe Valley in Baja Californa, Mexico, doing some wine tastings, and I have to say I had some very good surprises!!!

    Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for introducing us to another region. great to know more places and wine styles, especially those which are underrated.

QOTD: Allied Health care professionals are underrated. The up front, doctors and hospital usually get the credits.

QOTD: I think Wine Sales Reps are under-rated. I’m a sales rep for a small wholesaler Hilton Head, SC where the vast mojority of consumers want the BIG name’s. Some days I feel like NO ONE gets it.

  24. August 5, 2009

    VinoPaolo

Caught my eye tasting the Broglia on today’s show, my favorite Gavi producer.

QOTD: I’ll second Francesco’s praise of Franciacorta. It is incredible stuff at a great value. We see quite a bit of Ca del Bosco and Bellavista, if you are looking for it. Really underrated wine.

Also underrated; other Piemontese whites like Erbaluce and Arneis!

you had your tongue twisted today gary. made me giggle. good show.
QOTD: butchers. the art of butchery is fading and all we can get is mass produced supermarket garbage. (for the most part). good butcher’s are tricky to find.
