I love the flipcam videos. They make the WineLibraryTV that much more accessible and personal to the viewer, as “blair witchy” as they are.

QOTD: Best and worst wine I’ve had by the glass at a restaurant? Easy. Both were a Red Truck Merlot Blend. One was smooth. The other tasted like a slap in the face.

Funaly enough I heard that the wine origionally got the name from Todd’s brother, Robin Williams (yes the actor and comedian). When they were young Robin could not say Todd, and kept calling his older brother Toad instead of Todd. So when it came time to name his winery the Toad was born. I find it fitting that GV would have a slip of the tongue and bring it full circle and call the wine Todd instead of Toad. *RIP Todd Williams 2007

The free style video’s are killer. Looks like a nice little spot to grab a drink.

It’s “Toad”, not Todd Hollow, as previous posters mentioned.

Your rose showed better than the last time I tried it. I didn’t get much out of mine. Maybe to cold? I was surprised about the sauvignon blanc.

QTD – I have not really had enough by the glass pours this year to pass judgement, in fact due to the economy I looked back and noted that we have have not even been dining out to nice places, usually very casual places or counter service places. Oh well, that’s why I have a decent selection of wines at home.

Fun episiode, wish the place had been a little more high-end, and not just neighborhood.

Best wine by the glass was a Roots steakhouse that Mott mentioned a few episodes ago. Pride Cab poured by the glass, was not cheap, but it was very good with a great steak.

If you live around the WineLib, you should check out Roots! Strong to very strong…AMM

QOTD: rarely buy by the glass but had a very boring Chilaen sauv blanc in a bar recently – can;t remember what it was though (just wanted to leave a comment).

Love WLTV, but a little production value isn’t a sin.

    EDIT OCCASIONALLY, PLEASE!

QOTD: Corbett Canyon Cab = worst
Atalaya 2007 Red Blend = best

These improvised episodes are amazing. Keep it up!

QOTD: truthfully can’t recall the names of wines I’ve ordered. Part of the CKC…don’t have much experience ordering wine.

GV….Very cool to see you at this little out of the way place in Tribeca. I’ve had a few lunches there back in the day (2007) and it’s nice to see it get some publicity. You should do a WLTV tour of Greenwich St.

I hope the surgery went well…..

    QOTD:

Part 1: Tough question because the “best wine by the glass” will be 80% about the place you are at and who you are with. But……I had a sparkling rose not too long ago, I thought was unbelievable: Gran Gesta Cava Brut Rose….

Part 2: Unfortunately, if a wine was that bad I wouldn’t remember it.

QOTD – I have a hard time remembering what I drank this week, much less the past year. I recently had a glass of EOS Zin that was very good.

qotd: the last time I ordered by the glass was like 2007? So I have no idea hah

I really liked this episode, or any episode with a “concept.”

    QOTD:

Best = La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon
Worst = A Rioja in a flight at a Wine Bar; can’t remember the name though.

What I would give to be walking down West Broadway and see you drinking wine alone while talking into a camera phone! Just curious, if I sat down with you and proved that I’m a vayniack (SIC) would you let me sit in on the tasting? I have a camera friendly face…

worse glass: there have been so many, but all were house wine by the glass
best glass: Anything off the menu at StoneHome Wine Bar in Fort Greene Brooklyn

ps. can’t wait for the cruise announcement. I’m in this time!

I like the flip-cam shows. I am sure they let you keep the number of episodes up even when you are not at the Wine Library. Love that.

QOTD:I usually don’t drink wine alone, so if there are two or more, a bottle makes a lot of sense money-wise.

Why am I one of the very few who love the flip cam shows? It feels real, un planned.

Worst wine by the glass this year: a glass of red Lopez at lunch in downtown Buenos Aires (But then again, I knew exactly what i was ordering).

Best glass: a very good Valpolicella (cant remember any more than that) at Terroni restaurant in Toronto.

QOTD: Can’t really think of either. I don’t order alot of wine in restaurants. Hate paying high prices when I have plenty of wine at home.

Dude, New York sucks. Where are all the people, and why so much construction?!

Keep Mott…and send us all some Advil for the headaches the film-job created.

Worst wine this year- 05 Chateau Listran Cuvee Prestige Cru Bourgeois (Medoc)
Best wine this year- saving that for the Crushit Cruise!

    thanks for the show Gary.

qotd: Best glass 2004 Chateau Greysac, Medoc, Bordeaux! I think I have used that answer for at least 3 QOTDs.

Worst glass was at a tasting of sherries. It was a fino sherry. But man I hated it!! It tasted like water poured through a bunt book of matches!! The other sherries were great, but that one. wow!

    Late to the party, again…
I guess most people here aren’t aware that Gary’s riffing on owner Todd Williams’(yes, brother of comedian Robin Williams) name. The partner in the winery has been legend Rodney Strong. I’ve believed in their wines for years, and the’ve even hit a rather high note at times w/ Res. Merlot, and good Zins, besides being known for clean, stainless steel, and non ML Chardonnay.
The French Faux Frog series is a different animal altogether, but honest wines, nontheless. In true Euro-style, I think they can be enjoyed as a European man would enjoy his wine – w/ simple, everyday fare- crusty bread, cheese, sardines, or salami, etc.

QotD – best – Glass of Clos de la Siete at the Grovewood Tavern. http://www.grovewoodtavern.com

Love the doggie you showed at the end!

Best wine by the glass this year: Tom Eddy ‘05 Cab Sauvignon at Season’s 52
Worst wine by the glass this year: Hmmm. I tend to block out things I don’t like. Probably something at a sports bar when I was too full for a beer!

    Keuntz-Bas Pinot Blanc
    sorry for the misspell…

  25. August 20, 2009

Best btg- Keuntz-Bas Pinto Blanc very smooth.
Worst btg-well not btg, but a demi sec small bottle same restaurant-Moet Necter Imperial champagne–aweful no fizz I think it was corked if that is possible.

Was with the wife for anniversary in Atlanta-menu restaurant had champagnes $$$ way overpriced–I selected a Spanish Cava (per Gary’s suggestion to check out). Wonderfu,l and only $35 –at a restaurant!
