Catching up on old episodes…this guy kicks a**…”you write the order. I’ll sign it”. Very smart move, and quick on his feet. Easy to see just from that one example why he has been so successful.

such a great guest on this episode, it was wonderful to watch. And how special to have somebody who has not only been through 30, 40, 50 years of the wine business, but has changed what we as consumers buy on many levels.

I’m just catching up after the weekend. I have never had a bad wine from the Russian River Valley. Sounds like Terlato has a great formula for a fantastic wine. Fascinating show. Thanks Gary. Your guest was amazing.

I love the Wine Legends shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m here for an education.

One of the Vayniacs needs to make a video of clips where GV says ‘calling a spade a spade’. Does GV say that almost every episode?!

I def agree with Elliot on that. Well said. If you want a “french-like” pinot noir get some vineyard land in Burgundy.

nice guest. pinot noir is under drank.

    Yo GV,

I am thoroughly confused. Why is it that so many California Pinot Noir producers make a point to give a long-winded speech about the importance of site-specificity and individuality (e.g. “Terroir”), and then go on to talk about how their ultimate goal is to make a Pinot Noir that tastes like it’s from Burgundy. Am I the only one who thinks this glaring hypocrisy is totally ridiculous?!! I think it’s about time you start calling people out on this nonsense.

one thing that I’m curious about and would like further explanation: he was a little contradictory with the pinot noir – he sent the winemaker over to Burgundy to create a California pinot noir that is just like those in Burgundy … but he “overpaid” for the RRV plot because he believes in the terroire of the land. Gary, do you think one is ignoring the terroire of California’s Russian River Valley by creating a wine that is meant to mimic the greats from Burgundy??

I have had one Teralto wine and really was impressed. Always good to hear from the people who got the wine business going in the US.

I’m at work and just dying for a sip of solid Pinot after watching this. Hopefully I can hold off until after breakfast when the nightshift is over.

    Looking forward to part 2.
